View Full Version : Anyone Feel Bishop was written too strong?

I love the character personally but I happened to see the Hun on the Run episode and during the final fight scene Bishop is fighting off all 4 turtles Karai and Hun. Very rarely did he take any hits. I always thought Shredder/Splinter should be the best skilled fighters. It just seemed a little off that in a fight scene with Shredder all the turtles are able to get hits in and they really can't even touch Bishop. Anyone else feel that way?

Honestly I loved that Bishop was such a worthy adversary even compared to The Shredder at points. The dude was bad ass. Having a government agent mop the flour with the turtles so easily was a pleasant surprise.

Bishop is the best my fav villain and being the Turtles worst nightmare and able to take them on is just darn right cool.8)

I guess he had to be potrayed this way now that I think about to give his character some legitimacy. I must say if the 2k3 series accomplished one thing it's the introduction of this character. He is a vicious and original villian for the turtles. With I still think he was too strong at points lol. In a single scene he's slapping around 2 battle nexus champs as well as Hun, Karai and the rest of the turtles.. It's almost too unbelieveable that any of he plans were ever stopped...

I liked how tough Bishop was. Though I do agree, I find it hard to believe that he was able to hold off all 4 turtles, Hun and Karai in that one battle without breaking much of a sweat (even though it's one of my favorites from the entire series). However, I found their fights with Bishop to be more entertaining than the ones with Shredder. When Shredder fought the turtles, they were pretty much out of the fight with one punch, whereas with Bishop they seemed to get up much faster and rejoin the fights. The most interesting battle between the turtles and Shredder, was sadly in "Bad Day" because that fight was more similar to the newer fights they had had with Bishop.

Not really. He was not quite invincible- though he did live a long time. He had weaknesses.

I DID put him as Napoleon Bonaparte in one of the "TMNT vs. _________ " in another thread, though.

I think it's fair to say that Bishop has had a fair amount of genetic enhancement and the like. His abilities are probably more engineered than they are trained.

Bishop was always my favorite villian in the series. Although his character took a pretty lame turn in FF, in my opinion.

I wish Bishop would of been featured in BTTS. That "cameo" in the final episode wasn't enough.

I thought it was nice to see a character kick the Turtle's butt once in awhile.. Not too strong, no...

I loved the turtles/Karai/Hun fight. And yes, he is crazy genetically enhanced is fine enough background for me. I wish we had learned more about him though, he is my all-time favorite villain in TMNT.

The best part? He's also intelligent. he doesn't try to bite off more than he can chew. He could see that he was outnumbered and opted for a strategic retreat on that fight.

Most other villains don't get this.

One reason I wish Zixx was written more intelligently actually. His concept? Great. But I didn't care for the character in the end though.

I wish we would of saw a Utrom Shredder vs. Bishop showdown. I think Bishop could of taken him. BTW, do you think Bishop knew he was an Utrom?

I think so, he was there when Shredder was planning on leaving the planet. But it's been a while since I saw those particular episodes.

I'm not sure if he knew he was an Utrom or not, just that he was equipped with alien tech and was a threat to the Earth. I liked that Bishop was so quick and skilled, yet not a powerhouse like Hun or Shredder.

im going to have to say that bishop didnt know he was a utrom. I remember when Bishop kidnapped Karai and he tapped into SHreds place he mention everything about him EXCEPT the fact that he was a Utrom...heck even hun didnt know until he saw it with his own 2 eyes

I think everyone was waiting for a Bishop vs Shredder matchup, that never happened! That would have been sweet!!

If SHREDDER fought BISHOP I would still have to vote for SHREDDER ,but bishop was damn good, maybe he was a little too strong.

I have to agree. He was written a little to strong. But I dont think he should have been written weak either. Just not quite that strong.

I thought Bishop was awesome, he introduced a new level of threat to the Turtles, completely different from the Shredder, a villian shrouded in mystery (at least in the beggining), that with all the abilities (intelligence and strenght) managed to give the Turtles some serious trouble.

This thread should be called "Bishop's apreciation thread" :D

... I have nothing else to say. Bishop is awesome! :D He's one of my favorite character. I don't think he was too strong, after all, a show always need better villains or the show will stop...

Bishop was a good guy, just was one of those good guys who didn't care to do a bit of sacrificing for the common good. He was still a psychopath and a formidable foe for the Turtles. He may not of wanted to enslave, conquer, and destroy like Ch'rell did but he didn't mind "breaking a few eggs" to make sure humanity is safe from alien invasion. I wish we would of saw more of him in Season 5. His redemption in Fast Forward was good but we needed to see more of this twistedness in Back to the Sewers.

Yeah they missed the boat on a lot of thing in BTTS. I would have like to have more bishop, less superquest, less serling and less Cyber Shredder.

less serling

Really? Given the fact he was supposed to be a main character that season BTTS hardly featured him at all.

Well considering there was a whole episode revolving around him didn't help make him a background character at all.

Yeah Bishop is beyond awesome he's evil and skilled in fighting. His battle armor looks cool too.

Bishop was honestly one of the most enjoyable characters in the show, in my opinion. I'd imagine the reason Bishop is so skilled has to do with his age, and lack of armour.

Let's compare Shredder. He had, from a Martial Artists staindpiont, GREAT armour. In reality, every block or strike would've cause his enemies a lot of damage, while protecting him from harm. Also, him being an alien, and knowing that he could take the majority of blows would probably make him a little more relaxed in combat, and likely to take more blows than Bishop, who was definitly human and wore no protection.

I was just disappointed that we didn't get to see Bishop and Shredder fight. It would have been damn good! I'm not sure who would have won that one.

I think Bishop was the better H2H fighter, Chre'll Shredder relied on his armor too much. Remember in Exodus when the Turtles and Splinter got the drop on Oroko Saki Shredder, he got his butt whooped since he had no armor. Bishop held his own against them with how he was.

It would have been much better if it was a three way fight: Turtles fights Hun and Karai while fighting Bishop... because the dude IS kinda way too strong for me.

His character is awesome though... and I actually miss him in Turtles Forever.

His character was one of my favorites in the 2k3. I prefer him to all of the main characters. He was well put together. I enjoyed Bishop very much.

I thought is was BA how he can fight all the damn turtles. Nothing better then knowing the bad guy is better then the good guys.

No i don't think he was written too strong, Bishop was having trouble with Splinter in Bishop gambit.

They had this already when Karai was captured and Hun went to rescue her. I believe it was Hun on the Run.

No, Hun actually cooperated with the Turtles against Bishop. As I said it was kinda unrealistic that Bishop held his own against six people. It would have been more action pack if in that scene it was a three way fight.

Well Bishop is genetically engineered to be better than regular person plus he has much more battle experience than Karai,Turtles and Hun together.

I'm guessing a Shredder vs. Bishop fight would have ended up like Leonardo vs. Usagi, in which I personally didn't WANT to see either of them to win, thus being better than the other. That, or Shredder had won with some sort of bluff.

First post btw, gonna make an introduction a bit later :)
