View Full Version : Fair warning to everyone with a girlfriend...

Never, ever bring them into your world of fandom.

I did with my last gf. We were together for many years, and eventually I began letting her into my little TMNT heaven. She became an active part of discussion about TMNT with me, I would share all my thoughts and have fun talking about TMNT with her, and she would too.

I loved it, I enjoyed it so much just as anyone else belonging here would...

She would buy me TMNT things, she would ask about my collections, she would let me geek out and talk about my latest little purchase, and everything inbetween.

Once she broke up with me (5 years down the poop shoot), even after all this time, me getting over it and moving on, I cant seem to enjoy the TMNT like I used to at all.

I used to come here every day. I used to actively join in talking about it, or spend hours looking on ebay for TMNT items, or just researching/reading about TMNT in general. I've been on hiatus for over 7 months with it now, and every time I try to come back and look at it it just reminds me of her now, and brings up some sad memories.

Fair warning guys, dont let anyone come into your happy little world, cause it could backfire easily. I hope one day I can enjoy the turtles like I used to.

As a girl, I have to say that's a little silly.

I've dated all kinds of guys with all kinds of likes and dislikes. I was introduced to alot of different things. It's fun to get in on the things your guy likes (and vise versa....yes. you have to show intrest in things I like too :P ) It's part of the fun. I want to be involved with the things you like if we're serious. I absolutely ADORE that my boyfriend shares his fandoms with me.

If you don't enjoy something you used to like because its something you shared with a girlfriend who broke up with you....that's depression.

Sounds like this is a little raw so it must have been recent. Just take some breathing time. And...it's not the end of the world. maybe seek counseling. its a good thing.

Well, I would love if my Fiance showed interest in the Turtles. But sadly, she thinks it is the dumbest thing in the world. lol.

But seriously, that shouldnt stop you from enjoying the Tmnt. I can understand why it might remind you of her so just give it some time. Time heals everything.

Bingo. You gotta PhD Katie?

As much as it sucks you gotta move on man. It seems your love of TMNT predates this last relationship. Love conquers all Silly Billy.

I totally know what you mean with this... While it wasn't my girlfriend but a close friend who was also a business partner... We used to produce music together and host a weekly radio show on the net... We did a lot of awesome stuff together, worked with tons of artists, got thousands of hits on our website, for about 6 years we had this grind that was incredible... Things got all f'd up and we got in a fist fight and now we no longer communicate, and I haven't really worked on music as much since then, and it has been two years since I have seen or talked to the guy....

But rest assured dude, time heals your mind, I am happy to say that I am halfway done with releasing a new instrumental album and it feels good knowing that I am getting it done... Like someone else said, this sounds like it happened pretty recently... No worries dude, before you know it you will be rockin' with the mean green again...

Sorry to hear that dude. Just know that the TMNT aren't going anywhere, so it's a sort of passion that can never be replaced. The reason I don't tell many people or my closest friends of this 'passion' of mine is because I honestly don't think they'd understand. It's a fun story to share, and it gets me all enthusiastic educating others of the awesome TMNT, but if something like this were to happen, I'd just move on with life and take the TMNT with me. No one's forcing you to come back, but take some time to listen to your heart, and know that this place is still here for you, we're all here for you, we all are a part of this forums site because we all have our own passions about the TMNT and sharing our passion with the rest of the WORLD! I think you'll be okay, you just need to forget her, keep your eyes and ears open, and don't ever stop being yourself.

It's totally normal for that to happen and everyone here is right, it just takes time to move on.

You'll get over it, dawg. It just takes time. I had some similar stuff with a few games I really loved, but now I can't remember anything except my experiences with those games.

Sometimes it just takes a long time, especially when you've been with someone for so long.

Yeah, I haven't watched The Simpsons since I was dumped back in January out of fear that I won't love it as much. So just take a break, and your love for it will come back.

Thanks for the heads up, Dragnskull. I'll keep TMNT and shooting birds at the airport away from my gal. I don't want those cherrished things ruined.
