Some of you will NOT believe this, and neither can I. I had bought and just received in the mail, (what I thought was going to be fake) "The Collected Book Vol. 1 First Printing 1988", for only $124.98. Its of course USED, but all the pages are in tact, and some wear on the corners and inside the "first" and "last" page, it spreads a little more than it should, but from being in that GREAT condition, for so long, had me shocked. The reason I'm sharing with you this experience, is not to "boast", but to get an understanding of why people on Ebay, are trying to rip people off by selling, in worse condition than mine, over 1 to 3 THOUSAND dollars? I had read an Ebay sellers "description", where he says he even knows the price "seems high", but the rare item he has is worth that price in ANY condition, pretty messed up, huh? Can somebody please explain this to me. The reason I think I got lucky is because I searched endlessly on Amazon, and bought it from a "seller", who has a book shop in Florida. I'm not sure that person did research before they put it up for sale, because to be honest, I feel real bad for the people "bidding" or buying from those sellers on Ebay. I guess I just got lucky, and I am sincerely grateful.

I also bought TMNT First Graphic Series, Book 1-4 (NM) for $128 on Amazon

Here was the Amazon page for the "Collected Book Vol. 1":http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0034S8P66/ref=oss_product

The last seller on that page, claims he has the "edition printed in March 1990", So I guess it's the SECOND printing.. Why he has it in the "First Printing" page, I have no clue.

Here is the photo of my book I got today: http://i613.photobucket.com/albums/tt217/rise1184/0807101603a.jpg Please excuse the "Speed Stick", it was keeping the basket "fresh"..

I would say you paid the average going price for this book. Even though there are people who list it for ridiculously high prices, right around $100 is what it tends to actually sell for. Also, there aren't any fake copies of this book, so unless someone's running it through a copy machine, you're safe.

Sorry to say, but you paid way too much for those.

Glad you are happy with your purchases, though. :)

Hey, that's pretty cool. The 1988 one is the one with the black and white cover of Leo and Raph, right?

Although they don't have any bonus material, I've always sort of wanted to get my hands on Mirage' various collected volumes of issues #1-29 if only because the AC Farley covers are so beautiful.

Unfortunately, considering the prices they command, I just can't plop that sort of cash down for covers alone.

Mirage sells volumes 2-5 for cover price.

I hadn't even thought about them!

$7 bucks isn't bad at all. I'll probably go for em some time soon.

Yeah I think you paid too much for the colored books. Ebay alone their nowhere near that price as a set. I bought my copy of the '88 Collected book 1 at around $30+ US and I'm in Canada from Ebay. I guess the demand for TMNT reprint books wasn't so high in the late 1990's, when I got it then.

Wow, I had no idea that book went for so much: I paid 50$ for mine...

Yeah, I guess after a few years, even since the "sell out", there's been high demand for a lot of these books. Can you guys believe someone is selling the REPRINT collected books for $500 USED, on Amazon? It's pretty crazy..

Just a few years ago, I saw this collected book go on Ebay repeatedly for $30-60, although lately it's gone over the $100 mark. Back then, the hardcover version was about 100-200 dollars. Now that book goes for an astronomical price. Guess I should have gotten it when it was relatively cheap.
I've seen the colored First books go for as low as $10 for the entire set of 4. I don't really understand why those are so low. I guess it's because they were so mass-produced and reprinted. They are special to me because they are the first place I ever read those books.

All the hard covers are signed.

And if someone wants to offer me $4K for mine, I'd probably take that offer.

I actually paid more for my hard cover than for my #1 first print. Wrap your head around that.

Hey why do some of the collected books have missing issues? and is their only 7 collected books for volume 1?

Hey why do some of the collected books have missing issues?

What do you mean by missing issues?

and is their only 7 collected books for volume 1?

From the 90s, yes. Additionally, Michael Zulli's issues were collected a few years ago, but it was not published as "Collected Book Vol. 8."

The soul winters collections has a gap between 31-34? and is their any collected books for the rest of volume 1?

If you want a list of what's been collected in trade over the years, the official site had a pretty comprehensive listing (http://www.ninjaturtles.com/comics/books/books.htm).

It's only missing a couple volumes, like the trade paperback of the first six issues of the Image series, either of the printings of the "Bodycount" miniseries and, I may be mistaken, but wasn't there also a "City at War" collection released back in the 90s?

Does anyone actually KNOW where I can find "Collected VOl. 7"? I saw it on Amazon, in a lot for $599, I asked the seller a question, I went back today, its now "unavailable". Anyone know where I should look? I already tried Mile High, and My Comicbook shop, and I can't seem to find this volume ANYWHERE. Anyone know if someone is selling just VOl. 7? Or what's the easiest solution. I'm still going to keep my eyes peeled. Thanks guys

Soul's Winter was issues #31, #35, and #36. Including the issues that were published in between in the same collected book would be silly unless you were doing a phone book-type collection, which they weren't.

The picture is on the page, CLICK the link! :P

Apparently the item was in "Good" condition, from what I see in the picture. it shows a small flap at the right end corner of the cover, and some good "wear" on the front. Thats still a very good deal, seeing how people are selling worse conditions for much, much more.

When I click the link it takes me straight to the "bidding has ended" notification so I don't get to see the actual auction. :(

Another one of these just sold for over $200 on Ebay yesterday. I'm wondering how one managed to sell for $8. Was it a buy-it-now from someone who didn't know they could get fat cash for it? Or was it up for bids but nobody noticed it?

That's what I'm thinking.. Or, nobody actually knew about it. I wish I had before I bought mine for $128 on Amazon, but I won't complain. A lot of folks are selling it for more, which is sad.. Yeah, I saw that over $200 on Ebay.. It was $81.. I was watching that item before I found it on amazon.

Ok, I looked it up early and it didn't appear that way, but I take ur word for it. But also is there collected books for the rest of volume 1?

Also is there a collected book for the archie series?

Just off the top of my head, but...

TMNT Vol 1 Collected Books 1-7 collect the first 29 issues plus the 4 micro series issues.

Other than the Soul's book, I don't think there's any other books that group together any of Volume 1.

The Archie series has a few volumes that I believe collect like 5-17 as well as one collecting the 3 issue mini series that began it all. Then there's also the "classic digests" that collect issues 5-25. But the rest of the series isn't collected at all.
