View Full Version : Custom Mutant Module built, due to the lackluster wanna-be official one... :p

Hello fellow Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle fans! :D

The number one thing on my 8 year old daughter's birthday list was a Mutant Module toy... So I quickly surfed ebay, and found the official one... We where sadly disappointed to find that it didn't resemble the cartoon AT ALL!!! ...So, looking at her sad little disappointed half smile, I said "I'm sure there's a REAL one out there... Maybe I can find it."

The result?:

I was wondering what fellow fans would think of my handiwork (jealous aren't you???), and also - is that lame 'official' module with the glass roof from a specific episode?

Cheers,
- unclanrhino

I wasn't TRULY impressed until I saw those special features! Gnarly. I think it'd be cooler if you had sculped on some of the side details & thruster rather then painting them on but even so the lines are so clean that it doesn't matter. Oddly enough, I was thinking about making a custom module the other day and then you show up with this. Maybe it was just a prophecy!

Whats even more impressive is that you have an 8 year old daughter who likes the original TMNT cartoon! That's awsome.

Great work, welcome to the drome.

P.S.- The official mutant module vehicle was not in any episode that I can recall. Pretty sure it was another one Plamates' anti-accurate toy designs.

*Somebody move this to the custom toys section por pavor!*

Thanks everyone for the positive feedback -- on the module AND on how my wife & I are raising our kids!!!

We don't have cable or standard TV due to LAME, SHALLOW, and UN-WHOLESOME kids programming now-a-daze. We own every release of the TMNT original cartoons though! Yeah, I got lucky and married a hot chick who's also a big turtle fan! w00t! :D :p :D ...I just DREAD the day my daughter brings home some little freaking twerp Poky-Mon fan boy!!! GAH! ...I may come here recruiting foot soldiers to take 'em out if/when the day comes... Keep in touch! ;)

FYI: The drill is STRONG. It would definitely not pass any toy regulations, lol! We're going to see if it'll actually drill through some of the earth's crust soon! I'll post video here if it's a success! (or a cool looking failure for that matter!)

I find your creation both impressive and sweet hearted!:o

But for the record, I've always liked Playmates actual release, even if it was a far cry from show accurate. At least the color scheme fit with all the other Foot vehicles they put out.

the only one better i've ever seen is a guy who actually crafted one from scratch out of metal. It even had working parts such as yours. That was the neatest one I've ever seen but yours is truly a great piece too. It would have been great to have something more accurate like this as a child but I guess that's where imagination and creativity come into play, right? Kudos.

I agree. Great job. I am going to ask that a moderator or administrator move this to the proper section of the boards where it belongs, I understand that this was an honest mistake. Welcome to the 'Drome. :twink:

Sure it was. Quite a few if I remember correctly.

It is a great design man! I completely agree, This one is the one of the cartoon and the playmates one is quite innacurate though I want it as well.

Holy cow, this is seriously cool. I wish my parents were that handy; I might've had a Transport Module when I was a kid! Much like your daughter, I was so disappointed in the Playmates release, I just passed on it.
