Prized Comic Possession

What would you say is your prized possession in your TMNT comic collection?


Mine would have to be a first printing of TMNT vol. 1 issue 4 signed by Kev and Pete.
I remember years ago working for a short time at a comic store just sorting through the guy's comic boxes and organizing them. As I was looking through the boxes, I found a small box filled with issues of TMNT vol. 1 and Tales of the TMNT vol. 1 inside. I found that issue, issue 4, noticing a sticker on the jacket that said "signed by artists inside!" and asked the guy how much he wanted for it. The dude said "take it, it's yours." Each day I worked after that I'd choose an issue from the box and he'd let me take one till eventually he just sold the whole box to me for like 20 bucks. That's how I got most of my Mirage comics.
So not only is that comic the only one I've got signed by both Kev and Pete, but it brings back fond memories of working at that comic store, plus it's a great ish'.

I suppose mine would be my vol. 4 #1 first printing signed by Jim Lawson, Peter Laird & Michael Dooney. I won it in the art contest in 2001 so theres alot of nostalgia behind my reasoning. I had Dooney sign it at a con back in June so that made it even more special. Having all of the issue's contributors is great.

i've already got all the artists sigs on so much stuff that I really don't need them on any more comics. My prized is all my first printings for my raw collection and my massive CGC 9.8 TMNT collection.

It's tough to choose. #2-10 CGC graded at 9.6 & #4 Misprint @ 9.6.

I'd have to say my #1 1st print (soon to be graded) second would be my #3 NYCC (also soon to be graded).

I have multiple sets of Vol.1 . Looking to unload one soon on ebay. #1-62 every one shot, variant, and extra print.

That would be my vol.1 #7, just because I reeeaaally wanted it, so I got to know the ending of the space-arc. And then I finally found a copy! =D

Ya know, I'm not sure what my "prized" comic is.

I have a complete collection of... just about every Turtles comic in one form or another, but none of them are really rare or valuable. I tended to go for 2nd and 5th printings over first runs because I valued the bonus content over the scarcity or collector's value.


I suppose the rarist thing in my collection is my pretty much mint copy of the 1989 Tales of the TMNT trade paperback that I recently bought from Adam Winters (for a ridiculously awesome price). Those things are pretty hard to come by, as I understand it, and I got very lucky.

I don't think anything else in my collection is particularly "valuable". I have a few signed copies, but those were signed when I bought them so they don't really have any nostalgic or sentimental value. I didn't even notice Eastman had signed my copy of Gobbledygook (Vol. 2) #1 for, I dunno, two or three years.

I'm really proud of my Shell Shock since I hunted online for it for a couple of months before finding one in mint condition on eBay at a great price!

Other than that I've amassed a TON of books this year that has really rounded out my collection.

I own virtually everything, trades included. The most valuable stuff I have are probably my first prints of issues 2 and 3 and my volume 1 trades.

My most prized addition though is the 25th anni book Eastman sold at comi-con. I got everyone to sign it, even Stan Saki. I did miss Eric though from Image but that's alright. if I ever do a con again I might bring it.

Just nitpickin', but "Sakai". Saki is the dude with the metal and spikes.

I own the vast majority of TMNT publications, including a few harder-to-find items like Shell Shock, Collected Tales of the TMNT (1989), and first printings of issues #3, 4, and the Raphael Micro-Series. I'm really happy to own a full run of the Archie series as well, since the latter issues and specials can be hard to track down.

But, I suppose, my "most prized" comics might be the ones hardest to replace, such as my collection of Fleetway's UK Hero Turtles comics and my near complete run of Dengeki Comics' TMNT manga issues. Mind you, I'm not saying they are the best in terms of artistic and storytelling quality, but they are ridiculously hard to find, so I'm glad to own a nice lot.

Off the top of my head I'd have to say the Archie book I had signed at "TurtleCon". I was 14, it was my first con, and damn near everyone involved with the turtles was there at the time. Good times.

(Still wished I'd shelled out the $80 to buy Farley's Leo Bust straight from him. Oh well, hindsight...)

i just had Dan Berger do a commission for me, and he had set me issues #65 and #69 of tales with his signature and head sketch on the covers for free i that that was amazing of him. I was especially happy about the tales #69 because it's one of my favorite stories.

I'd have to say my copies of Gobbledygook #1 and #2.

While I have a couple items are are arguably more rare than these books, these particular books were personal gifts from Kevin; making them very special to me. Also, the first issue is the only known authentic misprint (several pages were printed twice).

I am going to be honest my entire collection. I always wanted to buy TMNT comics from vol1 up and I went to a comic shop noticed they had some 8 bucks a piece oO so I left them they went out of buisness and sold me 3 boxes full of whatever I wanted for $75 needless to say I caught up on TMNT vol 1 batman and dd and alot of others. So When I got a hold of those issues which were 7-40ish I was pretty excited and started my venture that same year I got those FCBD issue 1 came out so I was I have been pretty lucky through my tmnt finds. I dont have a particular prize I love all of them the same.

Hmm, I don't have any ultra-rare pieces in my comic collection. I got some original art, but if it is comics only, then probably Tales vol 2, issue 18. Why? Well, i've had a coupla letters printed, and its a pretty awesome feeling when you open that issue to find your letter there, but its also kinda expected. But when I opened this issue, and read the editorial, its got, "...(with a special nod to Michael Tough of Scotland for the cool 'king monkey shooter' postcard)..." Well, that's me! I sent in a postcard with a chimp shooting a gun, made out to be like part of a deck of cards (the King of something or other) with my answer to the competition from the previous issue. I knew I was too late to email in the answer, so I sent it on a postcard anyway, for no other reason than just because. So yeah, I fairly chuffed to bits when I read my name. Not in the letters section, but in the editorial!

Dude that's awesome! See, this is what I had in mind when I started this thread. I'm not just talking about your most valuable issues or rarest ones, I'm also talking about the ones that hold the most significant memories for you. IE, maybe you've got issue 11 just like everyone else, but maybe your issue brings back some kind of fond memory.
