Just wanted to share the first stage of paint pics I got from the Artist making my Raphael stunt head. Paint job is looking amazing so far and as you can see he is going for the part 1 movie look. It wont be as shiny when its finished just so you all no. Please share your opinions on the progress so far. Thank you and enjoy

Enemy Mine is a good movie but not sure how you got the resemblence other then shades of green maybe. :tconfuse:

I didn't like it that much when I saw the first few pictures, but now after a painting, it looks pretty darn cool. I am so jealous right now.

Yeah the paint is really bringing it to life and this isnt finished paint plus there will be a stuff added to take away allot of the shine.

Cost 2,000 dollars unfortunatly, but worth it to me :-)

Thanks man, yeah I agree with you. Although it isnt exact it defanitely has a likeness to Raph in the first film for sure and to me the paint job is incredible.

Maybe because of the mouth being open in the pics is throwing the look off. In your avi Raph has his mouth closed and it changes the whole look of his face.

Very True, I wanted the head to have the teeth is why the mouth it open and it will look very realistic and give it more depth when those are installed. :-)

That is the Artist name who is making the head for me, google Erik Porn and you can see what movies he has been a part of. I know its a odd name to have.

Some nice updated pics with fiberglass underskullin place but will be removed to attach the acrylic teeth and eyes.

Out of sheer curiousity, and my memory lapses, etc, and in no means to troll you or anything, I gotta ask - isn't this about your third Raphael head that you've had made up by professionals? Were the others not up to scratch, or is it the anticipation of getting it made that you enjoy? Anyways, its looking pretty cool though!

LOL, you have a good memory. This is actually the 4th FX artist I have hired for this project. First one never got completed after 2 years gone by so I got my money back on it, second one was absolute garbage and an insult so I sold it for really cheap, 3 one looks rather good but wasnt enough likeness to the movie and didnt like how it was foam filled so I sold it, and now onto the 4th which should look closer to the movie and has the proper fiberglass unskull core with acrylic teeth and eyes plus the paint job is killer. Thanks

Alright going from the left to right in order of 1st head to last and I will give a bried description of each.

1st head I just got the one pic of the sculpt and that is as far as the company got after about a year and a half of promises to get it done and so I got my refund. Obviously they have talent because the sculpt is good but doesnt appear like the movie turtles to cartoony and the head was to round and to big of teeth.

2nd Head I hired this younger guy who wanted to make the head for me after a post I had made looking for an FX artist. Guy clearly didnt have much experience and took a year and a half to get this after 900.00 dollars and it was worse then a halloween mask. Horrible paint job and no eyes at all just a bandanna and he clamed it was from the scene where Raph was squinting so you couldnt see eyes plus he added a neck which I didnt want and bobby pinned the bandanna I mean it was a mess.

3rd head was done well I thought and was silicone and foam filled but didnt care for the profile of the head or the kind of roundness. Also the head just had painted teeth rather then acrylic teeth and the eyes were to light of brown. Paint job was well dont but not exactly what I wanted and this one took forever as well so I ended up getting multiple discounts down from 1,500 so only cost 400.00 so for that price I was ok but not satisfiied so I sold it for 400.00.

Current project was 2,000 but would have cost 5,000 if I went directly through the shop. This one is made from the highest quality material and dont like a current movie stunt head would be done with Silicone skin, Acrylic eyes and Teeth, amazing paint job, fiberglass core underkull, bandanna will be done like the movies as well. I also included my most up to date picture of the current Raphael head. Looking amazing to me, the teeth will probably be yellowed a tad more and then covered in a clear coat product.

Wow. Even though they dont match the movie, I love the first and current one. The first I think is awesome looking. Its like the 80s toon come to life almost. The second and third I dont think are good. But your current one is def the best looking so far.

Thats cool man thanks, and yeah I can see how the first sculpt looks like the 80's toon come to life. 2nd one is terrible for sure but the 3rd one was alright but not what I was looking for. Although the current one isnt an exact representation of Raphael from the movie it will look as if it could have been in the first movie and will have more likeness of him then the rest. The profile of the current Raph looks almost spot on the movie Raph I think :-)

My 2c, the 3rd one is more accurate to the roundness of TMNT1 head shape. But the scar and expression sucks. The 4th one is too much triangle shape. The 2nd one is about as bad to me as TMNT3's crap, skin is too amphibian shiny looking.

His head looked pretty triangle shaped in the first one, cheeks may have been a tide wider but I dont think the head was rounded like Leonardo's. Look

Hear is the most recent pic I got showing installation process of the bandanna and wow is this looking incredible. This pic is really looking allot like movie 1 Raphael and I dont know how anyone could like any of the previous heads over this its like comparing a Ferarri and a Civic, LOL. Enjoy

This looks great but I just dont think it matches the look from the film. Atleast not from those pics. Maybe its the lighting or the angle but we will see once you have it in hand.

Its hard when you use different materials or dont have the head from the movie with you to reference. In the movie there are many different angles and expressions on the turtles and different lightings so it would be very difficult to make it accurate. The pics above are in bright lighting and in the first movie the turtles were never really in that type of lighting. This head is also a stunt head based off of a stunt style expression so it will look a bit different. I think Erik did a fantastic job on this piece it appears to be museum quality for sure and I can see a Raphael likeness even though it isnt exact.

Something I wanted to mention that Erik is doing should add some realism and movie 1 characteristics. He is going to use an airbrush technique to dirty up the bandanna ever so slightly like they were in the first film. Looking forward to seeing how it looks. :)

Agreed, I love the way its looking now so I can only imagine once the finishing touches are applied and in the darker lighting :-)
