Ancient fossil ninja turtles

[cartoonistaaron]

I'm bored at work and was doing some reading. Anybody ever heard of this ancient turtle?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ninjemys_oweni

"It was originally thought to be a member of the genus Meiolania, but, anatomical differences lead to its placement in a new genus, which was named in honor of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."

Pretty cool, huh? It's a pretty gnarly looking creature!

Yeah. I remember when they announced the name. I believe this was back in 2000.

Here's a blog from June that mentions various critters with sci-fi'ish names (don't think I wanna run into a Godzillus...)

Wow, now that's an awesome turtle! I love the triceratops-ish bone plates at the back of it's head. Yeah, I have no better words to describe that right now. *is braindead*
