View Full Version : Did anyone else like the way Dregg blasted Hi-tech off into space?

In Season 10's first ep, Dregg gets fed up with High-Tech and locks him in a shuttle and blasts him off into outer space. Of course we know Dregg sent him out there to let him die in outer space.

I thought it was a neat way to get rid of the character and replace him with Mung, who I liked a lot more as Dregg's second in command.

Yes. I liked it.

I thought it ws funny. It was such a change from Shredder and Krang who even though they got on each other's nerves they would never stab each other in the back. Ever. Dregg was just a douche. which is why I liked him

I never really cared for Hi-Tech but it surprised me, yes. Good thing Dregg did that since Mung was a better sidekick and I prefered the mutant bats to the Techno Gang.

Also, has anyone noticed that Hi-Tech in that episode is vocied by a different VA?

o_O They most certainly DID. While they weren't too often, there were times when Shredder or Krang would get fed up with the other, find a powerful artifact, then try to leave the other in the lurch. They did this more often than they admitted that they needed each other.

Yeah, in the, "Mutagen Monster" episode (the one with the mutated giant bull with horns by the train tracks), Krang says to Shredder, "If you're thinking about turning this monster against me, know that I have the master control switch instead of you."

Shredder and Krang definitely tried to one up each other at times.

What Krang said after that was even funnier: "Mine controls the TV, the Stereo and the VCR!" or something like that

Dregg was a great villain, so was his sidekick Mung...

It's really sad that there wasn't a reference to him in one of the Fast Forward Episodes - that would have been awesome ^^

That's because Rob Paulson wasn't around for season 10, which is the same reason Raphael had a different voice for the entire season. Rob Paulson did the voice for High Tech in season 9.

I didn't think Dregg wanted High Tech to die. When High Tech was blasted into space, Dregg told him he's sending him on a mission and expected him to return with untold data in about 2,000 light years.

Considering the sadistic tone in Dregg's voice as he LOCKED Hi-tech in the rocket, complete with Hi-tech screaming, "NOOOOOOO!" pretty much implies he sent him out there to die.

It was basically the writers tricking the censors into thinking Hi-tech wasn't sent to his death.

But in the previous season Dregg wanted to do the same thing with Carter and there they didn't even try to trick the censors.

Ah yeah, he told them to shoot Carter out of the nearest air lock into outer space, didn't he?

Dregg is pretty hardcore. :)

Yes, he did.

Even though Dregg didn't hesitate to kill someone, Shredder had the most hardcore moment of the series in the first episode of Red Sky by blowing up the Channel Six building, in my opinion. Not me or even the turtles were expecting that.

"I NEVER bluff!"

And to add the fact he was planning on killing everyone inside. Its not like he just wanted to blow up the building, all the news reporters were locked in there until Splinter saved them.

Although there are some moments early on where Shredder almost killed April, or April was left to die before the Turtles saved her in the last minute.

Remember in one of the earlier seasons when April was in the runaway module and Shredder said the rockets from behind would slam into it, and locked her in there and jumped out? April even had a frightened look on her face.

Yeah I do, it was funny the way Shredder said it :P

I liked how they fought Dregg inside the Technodrome in the last episode.

They didn't fight Dregg inside The Technodrome. Don and Mikey went to The Technodrome, that was abandoned in Dimension X, and brought Krang's android body with them back to Earth to help them defeat Dregg.

Sadly the first time I saw Return Of Dregg came after two years of TMNT hiatus so I figured Dregg came out of nowhere and Shredder and Krang gave up after "Shredder Triumphant" (not bloody likely but still...) That of course didn't explain Carter and the Turtles' ability to mutate into giant monsters with lasers on their arms or fire-breathing.

Anyhoo, since it's the first time I saw Dregg do it I figured it WAS the end given the show's new edge. Like other villains, I figured High-Tech would return. Sadly, this wasn't the case. :(

I liked Hi-Tech a lot more than Mung. While I thought it was a pretty bold move for a cartoon, I didn't like that he was written out of the show.

Yeah they always screwed with each other to get what they wanted. Like in a thing about rats Krang sabatoged the mousers to get a new body and whatnot but neother of them would actually try to OFF each other. Dregg just did it.

That's right, but what I liked was more the Technodrome, how it looked abandoned in the last episode.

^^ That's cuz it was abandoned, at least by Shredder and Krang. there were some aliens in there but Mikey and Donnie kicked their butts.

It was quite sad to see it abandoned. It made me wonder where could Shredder, Krang and Bebop & Rocksteady possibly be.

Well as we see, Shredder/Krang are probably lost in the middle of Dimension X somewhere, far away from the Technodrome.

Who knows what happened to Bebop/Rocksteady. After Season 8 we never saw them again.

I did and hoped it would have turned into something more.
I always wanted Hi-tech to return at some point, shame that never happend.
Dregg wasn't going to let anyone stop him from what he wanted.
I love bad guys like that, it's the same reason I liked Bishop so much in the new cartoon.

They were blocking the Trans-dimensional Portal.

Bebop: So!! You rotten shellbacks think you're gonna get past US, huh??
Raphael: As a matter of act, YEAH!!

The Turtles rush Bebop and Rocksteady and send them flying backwards, knocking them out on impact.

Donatello starts setting up the portal.

Raph: You know, sometimes I almost feel sorry for those two jerks!!
Donatello (turns to the others): Well, it's set!! Let's go home!!"

The Turtles rush through the portal (Michaelangelo: "Cowabunga!!") just moments before the plant creature grabs ahold of and pulls the Techodrome into the giant put from whence the creature came where it falls upside down with a smash.

Krang (OS): Curse the day I ever met those miserable Turtles!!

Maybe the plant creature killed them?
