Ooze Clues

I feel dumb asking this. But I feel dumb about a lot of stuff, so you know. Whatever.

Okay. YOU KNOW HOW Splinter picked the turtles up, and did his best to wash all the OOZE off of them? Yeah, well... what HAPPENED to the OOZE that he washed off them? Does OOZE dissipate in WATER? Or did it just kind of puddle up there in the sewer, waiting for YET ANOTHER CREATURE to come into contact with it?

Was this talked about in Return to New York, and I'm just not remembering it? Or did Splinter leave a big pile of OOZE just down there in the sewers, waiting for whoever (or WHATever) to discover it next?

And, please note: in the terms of this question's seriousness, on a scale of 1 to 10, I would give it a 6. This is honestly something I have been thinking about.

Geez, that's the first time I ever thought about it. I've never heard or read anything that referenced the left over ooze before. I always just assumed that the Turtles and Splinter just kinda 'absorbed' most of the ooze, and the remaining stuff was just left on a rag or something. That's all I've got.

Well, realistically speaking, there ought to be a few more mutants in the sewer then, yeah? We all know that Leatherhead ran into that very same mutagen. Thats one more, at least. That was one thing I liked about the OT, they acknowledged the leftovers. Even if it was just to coin with new characters for toys, it seemed logical. It also makes sense not to do so in the comic as it would've cheapened the turtles, make them less unique. In the OT that didn't matter since there were so many aliens and mutants already existing. Even so, they coulda totally had an additional rat, or some roaches in the comic. It woulda been really funny if Mark Martin had tapped into that, I could totally see him doing an army of roaches story.

I was thinking about this and unless there is some official chemical guide to the ooze I would be curious to test these questions.

1) How long is the ooze potent? After initial contact with oxygen how long will the stuff work?

2) What is the possibility of some creatures being immune to lower levels of ooze? Will one drop transform a fly like in Turtles Forever or do you need more to make a larger mutant? Or will that same amount in one drop also mutate a whale?

It might be worthwhile to continue discussing this and possibly put together an unofficial guide to this miraculous substance.

Maybe it just decomposed into simpler compounds that would not have the mutagenous effect.

Ooze on humans might turn them into buffer versions like Super Shredder, but without the transforming armor. Also some Mirage guide showed that a wolf exposed to ooze would turn into a wolfman hybrid until eventually just becoming all-human. Weird.
