We've known about this since the end of September, bud. Not to mention you quoted the month & a half old tweet.

Hadn't heard it, myself, but then, I wasn't really paying the best of attention.
And I have no idea how to navigate Twitter or if such a thing is even possible. Can someone find the actual twitter post where he says he's playing Don? All I'm seeing are bad food puns after bad food puns.

Took a while to find because this is a bit of old news.

I've been meaning to get a twitter for some time now. Actually seems like it might be a cool thing to have.

Thanks!
I'm surprised I hadn't heard this before now. Even if I don't frequent the non-comics forums of this board very often, I'm surprised it didn't make any of the comic, cartoon or "nerd news" blogs and sites that I regularly check.

Yeah, man, I hate Twitter. Between all the retweets and random tags and links, I can never tell who is actually saying what!
Also, yeah, this bit of news may be old but it certainly deserves its own thread due to its historic level of awesomeness.
EDIT:
Here's a cool pic from Paulsen's twitter that shows the old TMNT cast recording c. 1991:

It was, but no one made a thread for it... which was very odd.

not much for a own thread, had we some kind of voice teaser or something.
I know what you're talking about, Kiwamu. I don't remember what that thread was called. *does a quick search for "Rob Paulsen"* :o Jeez, Jester sure is in love with this guy. How did I never know this before? And, his wife doesn't mind? WTF!

I had no idea Paulsen even had a twitter, let alone that he was involved with the new Turtle cartoon!
Excellent news on both fronts!

He's a professional voice actor, I'm sure he'll give this Donatello the proper vocal quality he deserves.
Even if he doesn't, it'll be a really cool parallel if you ask me.

Woah, really?! Man I've been away from TMNT fandom for too long. I just decided to log in today since the credits music (Rap from M.C. Hammer) was playing on my playlist. I didn't realized that things were progressing to the point that they've hired the VAs yet! :)

"This Is What We Do" was in the credits?? :o What version of the movie do you have?[/friendlysnarkery]

Ditto. I thought we were still a ways away from getting any worthwhile info on the new TMNT toon, or anything TMNT for that matter.

No doubt. I'm glad someone that's been involved with Turtles projects before is on board for this iteration.

I already knew this but I'm still pleased to hear it rementioned. I wonder if we could get any other turtle voices from other turtles shows to participate. I would to hear Sam Regal and Cam Clarke as turtle again.

They are already making the pilot ep. Rob also said the script is "amazing". He also said it might be coming out 2012 Fall.

Aw, I was hoping for a 2011 premiere! I figured if they were going CGI, they should be able to start pumping out episodes pretty quickly, since you can reuse the same models rather than having to animate everything by hand.
Looks like it's gonna be a two-year wait, eh?
Rob also said the script is "amazing".
Being a veteran VA, like he is, you still can't expect him to talk bad about it, even if it's true. I'm sure he wants to continue to get work. ;)

Let's just say for the hell of it the script is based more off the comic then the old cartoon and Rob probably never saw anything past his work on the OT. I would think the script was amazing too. Hell maybe they really did come up with some cool and original who knows. I just hope if the series is really kid driven they keep it separate from the film.

Same here. That's how other comic-based cartoons versus their movie counterparts have been for a long while now, so I see no reason for them to want these to 'connect'.

a sarcastic Donatello is welcomed by me. I loved Don's snarky persona in the 2007 movie. Thats how a smart guy should act.

Well, just 'cause Rob's Raph was sarcastic, doesn't mean his Donny will be. That's up to the writers, not the voice actor.

Nto to be off topic but I loved Paulsens delivery with his lines in the original toon. The other actor they got during the vacation episodes wasn't that great.I love the fact the Paulsen will be Donatello for the new series.
That's great he'll be doing something he loves.

That's great news, Hopefully they let him voice Raphael. Everytime I hear his voice elsewhere, It always reminds me of Raphael from the original TMNT

In addition to Donatello, But with his voice, Its gonna be hard to put aside that its the voice of Raph.

I really don't see that as a issue, it's not like his voice is OT Raph all the time

Damn!!! I am very late! This is awesome news. I really haven't been paying much attention to any of the TMNT sections since it's pretty much dead and filled with random nonsense now. But wow. He's back and not doing Raph but Donnie. This is good news but at the same time bad news. From all of his work, I don't know him to be a dark character and Nick is a big fan of the 80s toon and this means this show will be most likely very light hearted. Not a big issue though. But this new show will never top what the original toon was. I don't like the whole CGI thing. Let's just hope they pull it off and have decent looking characters, voices, and good CGI.

Toon Don's not really a dark character per se, but hey, Rob made OT Raph his own and Raph in general is without a doubt a dark character. I have confidance Rob will do an excellent job, whatever direction the show takes.
That's great news, Hopefully they let him voice Raphael.
I can see them doing the 'body switch' type ep with Don's persona (voiced by Rob) being switched to Raph's body for a few scenes, but I doubt there will be much more than that.
Let's just hope they pull it off and have decent looking characters, voices, and good CGI.
Decent looking voices really put their effort into the wrong aspect of showbiz. :P
