I condensed all of my posts in this thread here (http://miscrave.com/articles/tmnt-2k3/) so it's easier to read than scrolling through here.

I'm fairly familiar with the 2k3 show but I've actually never watched most of it, the show came out when I was around 15 and by that time I had long grown out of cartoons, I remember knowing about the show because I was a "gamer" and was looking forward to the new Konami game and thought the new turtles looked cool, I was also growing out of gaming pretty much at that point so I never played the game. Around the summer 2004 I got back into cartoons thanks to Teen Titans and Batman:TAS re-sparking my interest in cartoons. Thats when I started watching TMNT in Miguzi Cartoon Network's old block, I watched it for a little bit before CN took it off. I think I watched a lot of season 1 though I think I watched none of the story-arcs and only got all the filler episodes like the Garbage man one and others like it instead of more foot/shredder episodes which I think I only saw 2 of. It wasn't until Season 4 started airing that I started watching the show and I watched most of season 4 probably only missed an episode or two and I loved it. After that I watched the first 13 episodes of Fast Forward and thats basically all I've watched of the show. Now I've already read plenty of spoilers sadly so I won't get as many surprises as I would have liked my first time but I'm guessing I'll still find plenty surprises left.

TL;DR I'm basically watching the 2k3 show for the first time I plan to post my thoughts after each season and any questions I may get while watching it.

So far I've watched the first two episodes, theres a lot of things happening in the first episode, definitely not a good 'pilot' for new viewers but its not bad. Second episode was definitely an improvement.
So umm a few questions so far..how old is April supposed to be in the show? I'm guessing around 24 since I'm assuming to have that job she's already out of college. Also her work outfit is just her regular attire with a lab coat? Just looks odd to see a lab coat over a crop-top shirt.

I've also been looking through the forums first topics and man they are pretty fun to read how the members reacted to the news at the time from the controversy of Baxter being black to no Krang and April not being a reporter  I'm also reading the early talkbacks of the threads and I'll finally be ablet o complete the TMNT 2003 talkback thread with links to them since I had no motivation at all after I had first created the thread.

Have fun watching it. This is my all time favorite series. It gets really good when the Shredder comes.

I really don't intend to write until I finish the season but I had to mention this.

Aprils first meeting with the turtles was handled much better in the OT and felt more natural than it did here, weird seeing something that was actually done better in the OT. Now the third episode does feel like a pilot episode and establishes the status quo, don't get me wrong the first three episodes are cool for fans but its not a good way to set up the series for new viewers unless it was aired back to back like short movie. I mean it takes three episodes to explain what was done in one episode in the OT.

How come Casey isn't shocked to see Raph a giant turtle, he acknowledges it but its as if its not a big deal, same deal with the purple dragons and why did Raph just go ahead and give her the purse like that revealing himself? Its also weird how they made such a big deal about going to the surface and seeing people meet them and after the third episode they don't seem to mind. Can't say I like the meet up between Raph/Casey it was done so much better in the first movie. I think I may be too critical, it might be because from what I've seen the 2k3 show was easily my favorite interpretation of the turtles and now seeing it from the start I'm noticing flaws I didn't expect to see. Nonetheless I'm enjoying it a lot so far I just haven't been meeting my expectations of how much I thought I'd enjoy it. I'll try not to post until I finish the first season.

Random fact, I found it funny how in an old thread they mentioned the ratings of the episode "nano" and people were speculating the show might not get a second season, how wrong they were even if the show indeed never reached a large audience so they weren't exactly wrong.

what is your take on the turtles and Splinter as characters?

Well I'm already familiar with how the turtles are in the new show so its not like this is my first time seeing their personalities. With that said I like them though I do with they had toned down their personalities a bit Raph is too angry, Leo too angsty and Mikey too annoying. I always liked Splinter here as well, and Casey they made him too dumb. Maybe my opinion will change after actually watching the characters progress for the first time, so far they haven't shown their personalities too much though Mikey did show his annoying side already and Raph being a jerk.

I found about the first ten episodes or so to get a little frustrating. Cause it's not until about the tenth episode that we finally get a battle between the turtles and Shredder. It's worth the wait though. They have some really great battles.

Well I've already watched a little more than 50 episodes so I have a pretty good idea how the show really is (like the comedy sucking ;D). though so far its not too bad, they haven't turned up mikey to mega annoying levels just yet. I also know most plot twists and various spoilers that I"ve accidentally read or that were just spoiled from watching later seasons or episodes not in order. So yeah I basically know the series pretty well but its technically the first time I watch through it in order and watch tons of episodes I've never seen. I'm pretty sure I usually posted that I hadn't yet watched most of 2k3 when I discussed it here though, this is also why I'm usually more active in the OT section since I've watched more of it. Theres also about 50 episodes of the OT that I'v never watched. That I plan to get to it, hopefully next year, I was waiting for them to get dvd releases but not anymore I gave them many years for that...

I think I've watched through the entire series, with the exception of Fast Forward (*shudders*) about five times now in the last year. Kind of like on a loop, I just can't seem to stop. Although at this point, I've taken to skipping episodes I don't like or that don't necessarily connect to the main story line, unless I like such an episode.

I'll watch an episode every night or every other night before bed, depending if I have to work early. It helps to get me relaxed. I'm probably weird like that.

Just a word of advice, be careful with statements like that, you'll have every OT defender jumping down your throat claiming more people like the OT better, then every 2K3 defender chimming in arguing that more people prefer 2K3. It's an endless cycle. :twink:

Season 1 and Season 3 were my two favorite seasons. They were all about Shredder and the Foot and there are tons of great moments.

Season 4 had some really great eps as it progressed but it had a slow start. Season 2 was mostly a transition season.

I always liked Season 5 too.

The FF hate comes from a rejection of change. The same crap happened when 2K3 first aired. OT fans whined and most comic fans cheered. FF was the end of the Mirage era of 2K3 turtles and it ticked off fans of the series. They wanted the "dark" turtles of season 4 back but that was far gone.

I personally enjoyed FF. It had many interesting new villains and while the story wasn't as interconnected as 2K3 it was still good. Sure they toned it down a bit but anyone who can handle watching the OT can handle most of FF. I don't see why more people just can't accept both.

This is probably very true for many people, but for me it was never about change or the lighthearted tone. I just didn't like the idea of the Turtles in the future being surrounded by aliens for an entire season. I always felt that surrounding the Turtles with aliens makes them less special, harder to stand out. It's like if the X-Men were in a world that was 80% mutants. Plus the decline of the animation in FF bothered me.
(sorry to feed into the 'FF VS 2K3' ongoing debate, I know it's been done to death here)

Lucky you, I need to rewatch the entire series again too. I'm starting to miss it. The whole series is enjoyable as a whole. Fast Forward offers something new,a little awkward at first but then you get used to it. And from there on it gets a little better but not as good as the first five really well done seasons. I also really like all the Shredder battles. They're so epic!

Volume 4 did the same thing, and that was present day. At least in FF, you knew they could only walk among aliens in the future.

Yup not only that, but the action was different. Original 2K3 series had an amazing action choregraphy fight scenes. 2K3 wasn't as bad, but it wasn't anything close to what the original series was. And then when BTTS came I don't know what happen with that, it dropped even worse!

I have a hard time believing it was the same creative team working on all three shows. I just refuse to believe it.

Also the storylines were OK with FF, but they didn't have connecting story arcs just mainly one off shows.

Fast Forward had a LOT of continuing story arcs.

The only stand-alone eps I can think of is all the Triple Threat eps, the Turtle Titan ep, and that ep with the collector at the end.

Fast Forward had:

- Darius Dun's story, intertwined with the Inuwashi Gunjins and Dark Turtles

- Sho'konobo and Virals story of taking over the planet

- Boss Zukko's story

- Jammerhead's sideplot

I also have been watching the 2k3 series for the first time over the past several months. It's taken a lot of money and effort to collect every episode, but so far it's been worth it.

So far, my favorite season is probably season 3, I consider that to be the series peak, since it wrapped up the Triceratons and Shredder nicely and has some of my favorite episodes, like Same As It Never Was.

Season 5 just made me want to play Mortal Kombat. The heavy handed Japanese stuff got old... fast. This is my least favorite season. I've watched 7 episodes of Fast Forward and it was jarring at first, but overall it's more enjoyable than season 5.

Well, I maybe enjoy it just slightly more than Season 7.

In general, you'll find that that Seasons 5 and 7 are nearly as widely disliked as Fast Forward, if not as vocally. They're much, much more egregious with their gimmicks, suffer from worse animation, and take themselves way too seriously for what they are.

Fast Forward is quite enjoyable. I'd say a lot of the hatred it's picked up is due to it airing on TV before Season 5. I can see why people would be frustrated by the change in tone and having a major cliffhanger interrupted.

I personally hate anime but that's not why I disliked season 5. The overall quality was rather low compared to previous seasons and while some of the story elements were interesting not all of them were. The whole "Leo has to be the best but he isn't and that depresses him" story was old and tired by that point which didn't help. I also didn't find the Tribunal or any of the other Acolytes to be interesting. The whole turning into dragons thing was a little too weird for me and seeing the turtles finial battle be reduced to that was stupid.

On the positive side I liked the Shredder origin story. I also thought Demon Shredder was cool even if he's another Shredder. The last battle was epic and has characters from all of 2K3. It also gave the 2K3 era of turtles closure which was a nice touch.

Overall not the worst season but not that great either in my opinion.

CyberCubed
12-06-2010, 03:27 PM
Well Seasons 1-4 were normal TMNT, and then they decided to give the Turtles power-ups every season.

Season 5 was Mystic/anime type powers.

Season 6 was the future with futuristic weapons.

Season 7 was the cyber world stuff.

I guess if the gimmicks were toned down a bit it wouldn't have been a departure from the norm for TMNT.

You say it like it's a bad thing.

Anime is so broad and has so many genre's.

It's like people saying they hate cartoons, when there's so many different types of cartoons made, (comedy like Simpsons/Family Guy, superhero cartoons like TMNT, Batman, Spiderman, classic toons like Bugs Bunny and The Flintstones, Tom and Jerry,) etc.

Anime isn't just extremely violent, Pokemon clones, or sex stuff. Those are the 3 big misconceptions people get about anime.

They think they're all clones of Pokemon and Dragonball or its extremely violent and filled with sex and bouncing breasts.

I did the anime thing for a few years. Started with Speed Racer, Dragon Ball, and then eventually Pokemon. I moved onto Dragon Ball Z, Outlaw Star Cowboy Bebop, Hellsing, and some others I can't recall the names of. I had a girlfriend who liked it and though her I saw a whole bunch. We went to a con once, one of the lamest experiences of my life. Pineapplehead summed up what most of the people there were like. Most of them had no idea how to act in a social environment. Being around like minded people just made them go ape.

There's some Japanese animation I enjoy, like Miyazaki movies, but those are held up to Disney movies over there. Hard to compare them to Anime. I also like Cowboy Bebop and while it's been awhile since I watched it I imagine I'd still like it.

Actually, the term "anime" encompasses all foreign animation. Japanese is just the most popular variety.

There's a huge leap in quality between Miyazaki films and standard anime. Even anime movies aren't near the level of quality. To me anime is Japan's TV animation. You can argue they're all the same but that's saying cartoon movies made by major studios are the same or on par with cartoons made for TV. Different stuff in both content and production value.

That's just how I look at it though. I know by definition anime is all Japanese animation but the gap is too wide and too full of crap to lump in quality stuff like Miyazaki's work with it.

Koi

"Anime is commonly defined as animation originating in Japan. (アニメ?, an abbreviated pronunciation in Japanese of "animation", pronounced [anime] ( listen) in Japanese, but typically /ˈænɨmeɪ/ ( listen) or /ˈænɨmə/ in English.) The definition sometimes changes depending on the context.[1] In English-speaking countries, anime is also referred to as "Japanese animation"

I'm not an anime fan, by any stretch of the term. But as an enormous Dragon Ball fan (which seems to undeservedly get the most direct comparisons to the season) I still dislike Season 5. They don't even warrant a comparison. Season 5 is just overly serious, cheaply produced, and incredibly gimmicky. That's all that need be said about it.

Also, on the topic of what anime is, it's simply the Japanese loan word for animation. In western countries it's usually used to refer specifically to Japanese-produced animation.

Anime people (to me) are super creepy. They look like aliens, giant eyes, with creepily thin bodies, and genderless figures and faces.Again, I hate to jump in here defending anime like some sort of unbathed otaku, but that's just one popular style in Japan. There are plenty of Japanese comics/animation that look downright American, outside of a few tropes. There's very little distinction as a whole. It all depends on the individual artist.

Honestly, there can't be anything inherently wrong with anime anymore than there's anything inherently wrong with American comics or cartoons. The people who tend to be fans of anime though, that's a problem.

CyberCubed

Honestly, there can't be anything inherently wrong with anime anymore than there's anything inherently wrong with American comics or cartoons. The people who tend to be fans of anime though, that's a problem.

Seriously dude, you are trying to rationalize my fear of creepy anime people? Not cool. Anime is creepy to me, the majority of anime look like aliens to me, majority of cartoons do as well. No matter the artist who did it. I just think the anime that comes out of Japan is super creepy. When I say anime I mean the stereotypical anime, not some random out of the blue animation based heavily on other cultural ideas, and artwork. Otherwise it isn't really the anime that most people would be thinking about.

I just said anime is creepy. It is just an opinion. So drop it.

I intend to compare the seasons as I watch them so I see no problem in other people discussing that in this thread, if you are tired of FF vs sX comparison then maybe this isn't the thread for you. I remember people being angry at FF because S4 was awesome and left with an awesome cliffhanger which was skipped so FF got a ton of hate but after TLS came out a lot of people changed their minds about FF.

Another thing Anime is basically just the word for animations in japan, it is not really used as 'foreign' animation, sorry gobo you are really wrong on this one. Other countries don't call american animation Anime thats just silly, its not like most other countries have much if any native animated shows, most is usually imported from the US. To each their own but if you get to it western animation can look just as 'creepy' and 'all the same' a common complaint from anime, and I'd definitely disagree with Anime you have a lot more variety of genres with animation since the stigmas of it being only for kids is for the most part not there, and you are missing out on a lot of great stuff, its like saying you don't like movies but you've only seen action movies.
Oh and as far as fans being creepy or socially awkward in real life its definitely true, however I think thats pretty much a given to every single fandom that exists whether its Power Rangers, Pokemon, The Simpsons, Wrestling etc. Its not that a certain franchise or activity makes people like that its just that ALL fandoms have their fair share of creepy people, the TMNT fandom not excluded. I actually find it hard to socialize with fandoms outside the internet because of it since most people as nice as they may be are just too obsessed IRL.

Anyways I finished watching Season 1 of 2k3 and I was slightly disappointed, it wasn't bad by any means but it didn't leave me amazed like season 4 did and I expected to. Nonetheless it was still great fun to watch through it and I never struggled through an episode. The Shredder episodes were definitely the highlights and sadly that kinda made the rest feel very fillerish or just made the shredder arc feel like it was dragging. The non-shredder/dragons/character introduction episodes were just missing something. And I include the ones adapted from comics like the Jack Kirby episode in them. I was surprised by how much of S1 I had already watched as well, I don't know how I managed to not watch any of the story arc episodes though. I was also surprised by how was similar to S1 of the OT it was some plots/themes where definitely the same whether it was a coincidence or the OT also did loosely adapt the comics in their own way as well.

As far as characters I think Mikey got way too much screentime and I think he got the most episodes which made me not like him as much. Raph also got a ton of time and episodes for himself and he too got tiring. Leo got about the right amount and sadly Donatello got shafted the most. April never felt right to me, I just never felt her connection to the turtles be that strong unlike other incarnations, I don't know why but that made her appearances odd since I just didn't feel like this April would be doing all this things for the turtles, I just never felt she was that connected to them. Casey Jones was a bit 50/50, he was definitely pretty badass at times but he gets annoying when they play him as a straight meathead which I know later on its mostly his meathead personality that you see. As with April I didn't feel Shredder had a big reason to hate so much on the turtles, well before their first fight at least, I could see it after that.

I definitely have a few questions but I think they may be answered later on so unless they aren't answered later on I don't want to be spoiled but yeah I wondered if I'll know more about the Foot Mystic and the Foot Elite. Also why did the Utroms think Shredder was defeated by being decapitated? That only makes sense if they don't know Shredder is an Utrom which I'd assume they know. I'd love to read some neat facts or things about season 1 I may have missed and probably missed like foreshadowing and whatnot, I thought I'd find cool trivia like that on TMNTpedia and the first few episodes did but it quickly changed into "This is likely the first time the turtles see a naked woman", I **** you not thats exactly what it said and I kinda gave up on it

I thought Shredder would be defeated until the last episode, kinda cool it happened before and that it ended on a cliffhanger. If I had seen this when it aired I would have so thought the Utroms were Krangs  Now to start Season 2, watching 3 episodes a day every weekday so it'll be like 2 weeks before I finish it.

Technically, it was the Guardians who made that assumption.

I agree with all of this. Don got shafted big time. Mikey got way too much negative screentime where they passed up any chances to let him grow to make him a walking punchline; (like really, did the writers have a quota of Mikey lines to meet in every script?) Raph got alot of screentime too, which makes me mad when I hear angry Raph fans whine he got shafted in the show. Compared to 80's April, LA movie April, and CGI movie April, I do agree that this APril seemed less connected to the turtles. To me it did seem like CASEY not April had more rapport with them. I found Casey's meat headedness to be almost endearing at times. But I agree they went over board with his pot headed ways.

I finished watching Season 2 and I enjoyed it much more than S1. I think it was definitely hard for younger fans especially with the show only airing on Saturdays to get into the show, I mean the last 2 episodes of S1 and the first 8 of S2 is basically a 10 parter mini-series. I like the way the Shredder is being handled, I mean even though he does take a significant part of the season I still feel like he wasn't overused and want to see more of him instead of getting tired of him. I hate the term filler since I usually enjoy episodes that fans label and dismiss as filler in other shows, however I definitely feel the "filler" episodes in 2k3 are of much lower quality than other episodes. Also I noticed that Music is where 2k3 failed terribly at, I mean its not terrible and it gets the job done but its really not memorable either which is a shame, the OT didn't have amazing music either but it was definitely memorable.

Now on to the characters, I feel the turtles were definitely written much better this season and all four got more or less the same screen time, Leo/Raph seemed to get a bit less but not much and Raph got plenty of time the first season, it was nice seeing Donnie play a larger role. Raph and Mikey's personalities were definitely played less annoying than in the first season. I enjoyed April much more this time around as well as I now felt she had enough adventures to have a strong bond with the turtles unlike the first season which it just didn't make much sense. I also find that I only like Casey Jones when he is wearing his mask, his bonehead personality can be downright annoying, maybe thats why OT Casey never took it off. I'd rather not see Casey if we're not going to see him in vigilante mode, I do enjoy some of the AprilxCasey romance, though its hit or miss the way they handle it. Like April I felt the Shredder had a much more personal vendetta against the turtles this time around as enough has happened between them. I thought it hurt Karai's character that she is so loyal to Shredder, maybe my opinion will change after S3 but I hate how she was introduced as this independent character only for then to quickly fall into "oh I just obey Shredder because he is my master".

I do have a few questions though. The Utroms were stranded on earth and yet they had the ability to transport themselves as soon as the military started attacking them? I guess they were going for the "they were getting ready to when the whole mess started" but thats too much of a coincidence to work as an explanation for me. Also whats up with the Utroms just leaving the turtles with their enemy the Shredder, what a jerk move on their part. And whats up with the Military wanting to go inside the building? It was just a flash of light, we've seen bigger explosions and other stuff happening so far that gets no attention from any authority. I'm also confused with the Battle Nexus, I assumed it was the best warriors from their dimension however the leader states the best warriors from the Multiverse and that the turtles are from Third Earth. So does that mean that say they could have met the OT turtles through the Battle Nexus if they had been chosen as warriors? And didn't the Battle Nexus appear in the Mirage comics? Does that mean its the same Battle Nexus as the one from the 2k3 show?

Had I watched it when it aired without knowledge of the comics I definitely would have thought Chrell was supposed to be the 2k3 version of Krang and all the other Utroms were just Krangs species. I also hate superheroes existing in the 2k3 universe, I mean Silver Sentry is basically Superman I don't see how Shredder can be a problem when SS could easily take on most of the stuff the TMNT go through. Oh well now onto S3 which Ill probably finish in about 2 weeks, I already saw the first two episodes and its good so far.

The music in the 2k3 series was great to me. All the music fit whatever was going on in a particular scene. The battle music with the Foot and Shredder was good.

Season 3 was my personal favorite season, so I hope you enjoy it. The stuff they do with Ch'rell/Oroku Saki in that season was great, much more behind the scenes stuff.

Yeah 2k3 was pretty awesome and I loved it. Truthfully I loved April and KC I jst didn't like how he was written in later season and to me S5 was probably the best season, next to S4. I didnt like FF, but it had its moments, and the storylines for FF2 pisses me off that they didnt finish the FF arc. BTTS was a complete let down, bc I thought they would be returning to Season 1-5 style, but was sadly let down with poor storyline and jst as poor animation.

Finished with Season 3 and I enjoyed it as much as season 2, maybe a little bit more but not as much of a difference like I did with S2 over 1. At first I was going to rank it below S2 but by the end it won me over, this season already has my two favorite episodes so far with Hun on the Run and Same as it never was. I felt this season was very Shredder-lite, I mean he didn't do much at all this season which is a shame, you just saw the shredder gathering Triceraton technology through out the season and never really went after the turtles, in fact in S2 Shredder didn't go after the turtles as much as he did in S1. I felt the ending was a bit anti-climatic as well, the turtles just decide to go attack the Shredder? it felt a bit out of character for them, also the fact that they were defeated by the Shredder and only won because of the Utroms (I'm not counting their self sacrifice as defeating the shredder, it felt cheap). Counting the season was Shredder-lite and the season finale didn't deliver I'm glad Chrell got a final battle in Turtles Forever, to give some better closure. Now that I'm talking about Turtles Forever, if this is the last we see of Chrell until then then I don't see why he had so much hatred for the turtles, I mean he was so insanely against them he wanted to kill them all the multiverse turtles even if it meant him too, I always thought it worked if there was a better reason but so far from S1-3 which is apparently his last appearance nothing really happened that made me think "oh no wonder he went insane to kill all turtles at the cost of his life", I can understand him hating them but not to the insane level the movie portrays it.

Now the characters this season I felt the turtles were definitely more balanced this time, S2 did it good but it was probably better this season. At least Mikey and Raph were definitely toned down, in fact I think Donatello got a lot of time which is great, now that I'm older I definitely think Donatello is easily the best turtle out of the four in most incarnations, though Raph will still be my favorite. I liked seeing April training martial arts and Casey did almost nothing this season which is a shame since he's annoying when he's just a character instead of actually part of the plot, I did like the way their romance was handled though. I wish Baxter wasn't stuck being Shredders goon so long but oh well I did really like Dr. Chaplin and their interactions. Karai didn't win me over this season either, I don't like the way they're handling her she just feels hypocritical instead of 'confused/conflicted' which is what they're going for. As for Shredder this season finally made me realize they took a Lex Luthor "I'm a businessman who is evil" persona and I absolutely hate it, it does not fit him at all, it worked to modernize Lex Luthor from just an evil scientist but not Shredder. Now Agent Bishop disappointed me, especially when everyone holds him in such high regard, don't get me wrong I liked him but I thought he'd be much more awesome. They played him as just another evil villain when I thought he'd be much more neutral, he's only against the turtles for the benefit of humanity. Sure they acknowledge thats why he does things but they still could have made him more sympathetic. I also hate how strong they made him, how did he take out the Shredder Elite so easily? I would have liked if he was strong but not that strong.

I definitely have a few questions with this season though. Why is Hun so loyal to the Shredder? I mean he is extremely loyal so there must be a reason right? And why does Hun hate Karai so much? A simple "jealousy" because of him preferring her over Hun is not a great explanation so I hope theres a better one. Also what is it with the Damyo going crazy after the loss of his son? It seemed out of character and he seemed perfectly fine during the Christmas episode which was after his son was gone. Also scary to think that if Lord Simultaneous hadn't done that then would the Damyo still have gone against the turtles and Splinter? He's psycho and mentally unstable to hold the War Staff in that case. My final question is about the Time Scepter, so it appears that it not only travels through space time but also dimensions? Was Same as it never was the future without Donatello or just another dimension like Turtles Forever showed? I like to think its another dimension, but if thats the case wouldn't it mean that Renet and Lord Simultaneous would have to be the same ones as the Mirage universe ones? Is there anything that would contradict that?

I'll be watching S4 now, this is the only season I had already watched entirely, and I absolutely loved it, in fact all my high praise of the show was based mostly on that season alone and I used to compare the 2k3 series to the equivalent of Batman:The Animated Series is to Batman. So I don't know if I'll be disappointed since I'm expecting it to be amazing or if it really is as good as I remember. Oh one final thought on S3, I'm not sure about the the post-triceraton invasion Earth, I don't know it feels like the 2k3 is no longer any wackier than the 87 show that Laird criticized the turtles going around in the daytime.

Maybe it has something to do with him stuck in the ice for four seasons? 1987 Shredder did call him insane as soon as he woke up.

Also his original plan was that he wanted to conquer the multiverse. He balked at the idea when he found out each one of the Multiverse has a TMNT team wired to fight the Shredder. Maybe that pushed him over the edge considering his own Turtles keep getting in his way (and this is the dude who has magical ninjas, competent subordinates, mechas and "more evil than 1987 counterpart bwahahaha" stuff).

Yeah, I find Ch'rell's end much better and satisfying in the movie than the tv series.

I actually like Bishop. I think his character was awesome. I was hoping he'd pick up and share the mantle with Karai as "Main Nemesis" to the Turtles after Ch'rell's retirement. But...

I like to think its another dimension, but if thats the case wouldn't it mean that Renet and Lord Simultaneous would have to be the same ones as the Mirage universe ones? Is there anything that would contradict that?

I wouldn't put it past them. Actually this is the reason why Renet is my favorite character in the New Toon. Her interaction with the comic world is kinda... heartrending, for lack of a better term, especially with the future stories. So I was happy with her perky, dumb blonde persona.

I'm glad your having fun watching this series. I don't see it out of character to go attack the Shredder at season 3. As long as they had a purpose and they did, Splinter had a vision and they had to act in order to save a lot of lives in the galaxy.

I didn't mind seeing less of the Shredder if you see too much you over expose him and it makes each battle with him less significant. You dont want the series to be 80% vs the Shredder, a good balance was needed, the series was perfect how they handled him. I think even in the comics The Shredder wasn't that involved in the series anyways. He died in the first book only to come back and die again a few times.

Finished S4 today, well technically I didn't watch the last episode but I remember it was awesome and deals more with the next season than this one. S4 was the only season I had already completely seen, I remembered it was amazing and I was afraid after having watched S1-3 that it wasn't going to be as good as I remembered it, I mean I used to compare 2k3 with Batman TAS and I no longer felt that was good comparison. I was pleasantly surprised that I was wrong and S4 was still as good as I remembered, its so far easily the best season the show has had and based on the opinion of the later seasons I'm assuming this is where the show peaked. This season definitely felt a lot like BTAS to me, the earlier seasons where much more actiony and sci-fiish in their story telling, not to say this season didn't have action or sci-fi since it had plenty of it. It also makes me wish S1-3 could have been done this style instead not to say I didn't enjoy S1-3 since I did but they weren't as enjoyable. Even the updated intro is much better and original intro had already grown on me quite a bit.

Characters this season and I'm skipping the turtles well except Leo, he was definitely a bit too angsty, when I first saw S4 I didn't know what had happened with the Shredder so I just imagined it was much more epic than what actually happened so his angstyness made sense. However knowing what actually happened his angst did feel a bit over the top though I was very glad it was acknowledged by him that they did not defeat the Shredder because its true, they were defeated by him basically and it had been something that had bothered me so I'm happy it was mentioned. While his angst was a bit over the top it wasn't as much of a complain as many point out that "Leo went emo". Karai was excellent this season as well, she won me over after not having liked her much before. Same with Agent Bishop I felt he wasn't portrayed as only a villain like last season but he just does things in a shady way. Baxter was also made better though I always liked him anyways. I also really enjoyed how Hun worked this season, when I first saw S4 I didn't like Hun working without the Shredder but now that I saw more of their history it makes perfect sense, though I had thought that Hun knew Shredder was an Utrom since the start of the second season. Only character I didn't like much was the Ratking, I didn't like that he was just a the Bishop clone/monster from last season not familiar with the Mirage Ratking but I wish he had been different. I know based on Cybercubed's comments that he never appears again and I don't mind it because of his weak appearance though maybe his next appearance would have redeemed him.

My questions for this season are mostly about next season. Did Season 5 have its own intro or did it use the same Karai as Shredder from S4? Can someone tell me more of the story of S5? I didn't quite follow it except that Fast Forward was done first and that Laird apparently made S5 out of his pocket, which doesn't make sense since 4Kids DID have a say since they cancel the Nightmares Recycled episode. Also was S5 always 13 episodes? its odd they went for a 13 episode season and then 26 again for FF, it only makes sense if Laird did indeed make the season out of his pocket and he could only afford 13 which I already said I don't believe Laird did it all out of his pocket. I'm also still confused about the whole multiverse, it was also mentioned a few times this season but its definitely not used in the same way as the Turtles Forever multiverse.

Looking forward to S5, I am pretty hyped about it since the story arc setting up S5 was awesome so HYPE HYPE HYPE. I already know S5 isn't liked by many and I already know a few spoilers of it that I've accidentally read or some spoilers that people used as a signature :x I know its anime inspired which is fine by me I like Anime so I'll see how I like it, I'm definitely hyped about it and have high expectations regardless.

Was Same as it never was the future without Donatello or just another dimension like Turtles Forever showed?Well if it was a different dimension there would've been some hinted explanation of Donatello's disappearance other than the Time Scepter; also, the present-day 2k3 Donatello wouldn't've been included in the picture in Turtles Forever, so that was a misunderstanding, it's the future, or rather was the future.

Personally, I think it was done this way purposefully to build some anticipation. 4Kids didn't cancel "Nightmares Recycled"; Fox's Board of Standards & Practices did. But, Laird did give it a 'thumbs down' when reviewing it though. I also think that "Nightmares Recycled" was more or less a casualty of the declining ratings and growing heat coming from BS&P.

I really don't intend to write until I finish the season but
Well I'm already familiar with how the turtles are in the new show so its not like this is my first time seeing their personalities.

Raph is really scary in the new version. Fits in with the comics though.

Nope they didn't cancel that episode bcuz of the ratings, ratings had nothing to do with it.

I dunno, Raph has his moments in the comics, but he's definitely too over the top in 2k3. Everyone is.

Finished S5 and while not as good as S4 its definitely enjoyable, I don't understand all the hate for it, well I can see where they are coming from but really I don't see it that much of a difference. I mean yeah its very heavy on fantasy however how is that different from the earlier second season and third that are very heavy on sci-fi and we had already seen plenty of magic before anyways. I also don't understand why people compare it to anime, yeah I guess the mystic power up and the final battle are similar but besides that the season is nothing like anime.

Now one thing I noticed is this doesn't flow like a season very well, in fact it feels like a TV/DTV movie stretched out among 12 episodes instead of it being a 90 minute movie, in fact it'd be interesting if someone would edit it into a mini movie. Yeah earlier seasons also had plenty of connected episodes and on going story but they didn't feel like small movies. The only episode that didn't fit well in the story line was the Nano/JF episode, I actually thought once they got to NY there'd be more single episodes like that one. And while I normally hate the superhero episodes I really enjoyed that episode, first of all I always liked Nano and seeing him as a superhero was a great way to end his story, loved it. Because it kinda felt like a movie some episodes felt like they were dragon a 5 minute segment of training into a full 22 minute episode. Oh and I didn't like what the Mystics looked without their hats, they should have kept them  Anyways to me this season felt very epic, the stakes were really raised, this is especially seen at the end when they all unite forces (and IMO it didn't make sense for Hun to have joined them). Funny how Tengu Shredder keeps mentioning he is the "One true Shredder" counting Turtles Forever, and sadly I kinda feel that Turtles Forever was not as epic as this season was and that Utrom Shredder is not as powerful, I mean they made Tengu into a beast, I definitely won't see Turtles Forever the same after this and I already had a problem with Chrell calling himself the one true shredder. In fact I think this season works perfectly as a series finale, the only thing not fully wrapped was Hun and maybe Bishop but they aren't anything big. I was only bummed that we never besides quick references learn how Chrell assumed the mantle of Shredder, in fact that would have been the only thing that could have redeemed Chrell as a more powerful force.

So did Hun get a new VA? It definitely seemed different and didn't like it as much, I vaguely remember reading about this years ago I think. Two last season questions but how come there wasn't a city at war 2.0 during S4? You'd think it would have happened after no shredder, I realize why they didn't do it but they should have had a better explanation. Also I just realized that last season the only character that didn't get wrapped up was Hun, we saw him stealing weaponry but never saw the fruits of what he was doing.

Now onto S6, another fan hated season and mostly because they skipped S5 for it, I've already seen the first half and while not as good as S4 I remember enjoying the light heartedness of it. Random question, anyone know how many of the flash TMNT shorts that aired on 4kids where made and where I can watch them?

I can see what you mean, the whole Season 5 could have been a codensed 90 minute DTV movie.

There was supposed to be two filler eps, the Nanobot ep and Garbageman ep, but the second was never finished.

Yeah... that kinda bugged me too in the film that the 2K3 peeps assume, and called, the One True Shredder was Ch'rell.

Then again, that film bugged me with 1987 Leo being painfully Out of Character so I try not to let the small details detract me from appreciating it.

I compare the Turtles' shapeshifting abilities to American Dragon Jake Long. All they need is the "Dragon Up!" catchphrase.

I also once disliked Fast Forward... but watching it again for the second time, I warmed up to it. Still dislike Cody (he eerily reminds me of Carter from the old cartoon, freakily enough), and I liked Serling... but they shouldn't have bring him along in BTTS.

I don't think they should have condensed it at all and made it into a movie. I thought the Ninja Tribunal was perfect. Don't see why people didn't like it i know there are a few people here. There was too much going on to make it shorter, if anything i wanted more.

As far as the TS said about everyone calling themselves the one true Shredder. I was curious to know how Chrell would feel if he ever saw the original Oroku Saki since he did basically idolize him, take his name, etc. How would he have felt if he came face to face with the one true Shredder. He may have shaken in his boots.

Now i know there was BTTS, but that was horribly written, please don't get me started on that! Even though that show was canon, i'm taking it as not canon.

So I started to rewatch this series again from start to finnish because of this thread. And I have to say it is just as enjoyable now as it was when I first watched it. However there is one big plot hole I've noticed.

The Shredder wants Utrom tech so he can track the other Utrom's but being an Utrom himself and using a suit like they do, shouldn't he be able to use his own suit to do so?

Nay. Only The Sword of Tengu was shown to have this 'Utrom de-tech-ting' ability. And, there were plenty other big plot-holes. At least it wasn't like Fringe, leaving plot-threads dangling and forgotten regularly (Hey, everbuddy! Guess what I been watching lately. :P). I just need to get busy filling in all those holes with my fan-fiction.

To true. Love it. But, they apparently had trouble deciding what to make the show about for the first season and a half. "Unearthed" was a prime example of how unsure they were of where to take the show. They seem to have finally settled on a direction, but the idea of there only being two universes is pretty absurd. If they wanted to say that Walter was somehow only able to find evidence of that one alternate universe, and that's why he's so confident that there's only two, it would be more believable. No scientist worth his salt would be so short-sighted as to believe there were just two. And, it's just laughable that every character in the show is able to refer to alternate reality Walter as "Walternate" with a straight face. But, despite all these dopey issues, the show is immensely entertaining.

Still think I'll be watching Supernatural live though... It's more my speed and I've been with that one since the beginning. I just started on Fringe this past Autumn (via DVD).

Meanwhile... Back on topic...

Finished S6 Fast Forward and I definitely have mixed feelings about it, overall I was a bit disappointed but I wouldn't say its the terrible mess people made it out to be, oddly enough is the first half is what I had already seen and originally didn't dislike it and now its the first half that I mostly dislike of Fast Forward. I'll start with the things that don't bother me which apparently are a lot of the complains people have and then I'll go with the things I didn't like as much and the things I did enjoy.

I don't mind the future setting, I find it interesting when shows take a different route for the later/last season even if its often seen as "jumping the shark", it especially worked here since to me the lost season felt like such an epic last battle that another season just continuing would have felt lackluster, with this being an entirely new setting and adventure it avoids that. The animation change is another thing I'm probably alone in but I find I also find interesting, yeah you definitely feel the change and its inferior, however I find it interesting seeing the characters I liked being drawn in a different way, it makes me want to see all the characters drawn in this new style, I have the same opinion in other shows like Captain N and X-MEN TAS that did this in the last season, I also really enjoyed the brighter colors. I also really enjoyed the theme song, while the original 2k3 theme grew on me and I now like it this one is much more fun, only line that really bothers me is Leo's "I guess we're here to stay!", I always cringed when I heard it, it reminds me of something that Josey and the Pussy Cats in Outer Space or Gilligan's Planet (Gilligan's island) would have said in their intros.

My problem with FF is mostly it was not written as well as the previous seasons, now every season had a fair share of mediocre episodes, but FF definitely has the most so far. Also what does not help FF is I did not like most of the new rogues gallery they came up for the turtles, I mean I give them props for not just using Future Shredder, Future Rat King, Future Garbage Man but they might as well have to make the season more interesting, unlike Batman Beyond that also tried avoiding making future versions of previous villains at least BB did have interesting new villains. I absolutely hated triple threat, even more than Garbage Man and he got three episodes, he was absolutely worthless. Same with Viral, what was the point of keeping her for more than one episode or having something to do with Sh’Okanabo? I also didn't like Sh’Okanabo's story arc or him being one of the main villains, his plan was too generic and maybe if they had not made him into a Symbiote (Venom/Carnage) like villain I would have liked him more. Darius Dunn wasn't much better, he was just way too stereotypical for a villain, I guess he'd been alright if he hadn't been such a focus or if they had tried to hide his plans a little better or written him better. I did not like the dark turtles either, and I love evil mutant turtles, heck I love generic "evil" versions of characters no matter how cheap it is to just make an evil version of the heroe's I'm a sucker for them. Street Phantoms weren't too bad but I didn't like them much either, heck why couldn't they just have been a 2105 version of the Purple Dragons gang and it would have made them slightly more interesting. As unoriginal as it may have been a Future Shredder trying to take the mantle or having the mantle would have been far more interesting. Villains weren't the only to blame, I thought I didn't dislike Cody from the first time I had seen it, heck I normally like disliked characters such as Zack the fifth turtle and Jar Jar Binks, but Cody was just extremely unlikeable. I also don't understand why some people liked Serling, I did not like him much, his sacrifice was a bit sad even if it lasts for a few seconds, didn't care he became Turtle X since I never cared for that anyways and he didn't really appear as Turtle X much. Now for a robot that doesn't seem to get much love but definitely deserves it:

http://images.wikia.com/tmnt/images/e/ea/Biggles.jpg
"Allo Allo Allo! What's all this then?"

Constable Biggles was awesome, too bad he never got an episode to himself as I would have loved it. Agent Bishop was fun to see, though I wish they had played him a bit more grey in his ways and not entirely "I'm good now", I mean even in 2k3 he was mostly trying to do good while doing bad stuff, it would have been neat if there was still some less that honorable things he was doing for the greater good. Loved seeing Baxter Stockman and him getting redeemed made me very happy. I realize he probably didn't deserve to redeem himself after all he was always evil by heart but I always felt so bad for him I liked that he had a happy ending. Zixxth could have been written a bit better but I enjoyed him even if he did make the turtles seem a bit stupid.General Zukko would have been an interesting recurring villain too at least have a bigger role. Oh I almost forgot I also liked those bird warrior creature things.

The whole season just felt like they could have done much more with the future setting than they did, the writing did improve the second half of the season and was more enjoyable but the whole season wasn't as well written as the previous ones were. I mean the future window was kind of a stupid way to have traveled into the future they could have thought of something better. Also for a show that tried to ridicule "Cowabunga", "It's Ninja Time" is far more annoying, and its used endlessly in the first half of the season. Also 2105 is not that far into the future for the world to be THAT advanced, I realize aliens came and likely helped humans modernize but still. I mean 2105 is not even 100 years into the future anymore like it was back in 2005, heck the videogame Helix 2 was made because of Halo 2 that came out around the same time, that especially dates the show unintentionally theres been like 4 Halo's since then. So yeah its not as bad as people make it out but not as good as it could have been, writing was definitely not as tight and it hurt the season. I would have liked to have seen the Space Usagi episodes and maybe a few more episodes to wrap up FF but I'm definitely glad they went back to NY for the last season and all this time in the future really left me wanting to watch more stuff in the present, I know BTTS isn't well liked even less liked than FF but I'm looking forward to it.

So umm...Why wasn't Bishop surprised that Sh’Okanabo was not just an urban legend? how long where they in the future for? in one episode they mention its been "weeks" and reference an episode that only happened two episodes before. So Dark Turtles and Dunn don't get a real conclusion right? I guess I'll just pretend the Dark Turtles became good and the new TMNT of the future as for Dunn I don't even know why they didn't conclude his storyline, we saw him get exposed and then tried to get revenge twice, there wasn't much more they could have done. Oh and where can I read about FF season 2?

Just finished Season 7 Back to the Sewers and wow I really enjoyed this season, its not one of the best seasons by any mean but its a solid one I'm surprised by all the hate I see it gets on this forum lately, especially since in the episode discussion threads people seemed to be mostly positive about it. The worst episode was the Justice Force episode but even then it wasn't the worst JF episode either, the videogame one was actually amusing to me so i had no problems with it. I thought the cyber world was awesome but it wasn't used that much really so even if you didn't like it it wasn't the whole season about it in fact I would have liked to have seen more of it. I definitely think the season had pretty strong episodes. Overall a great season and while I would have loved to have seen more episodes the show had a great run and this season works as a final season well enough.

Like with FF I kinda enjoyed seeing different designs, the pupils are nice but they seemed kind of odd on the 2k3 turtles. The designs are so different it could almost be a new TMNT cartoon, they are also very inspired by the 2007 film, in fact a kid who just watched the movie turned on 4K!ds and watched FF/BTTS could easily think it was in continuity with the movie, in fact those two seasons could really fit if a kid didn't know the 2k3 is a different universe. Wasn't a huge fan of April's new look but I think my biggest problem with her was her clothes since I didn't like them, also she didn't change clothes (well yellow tracksuit) unlike past seasons where she had a limited wardrobe, I would have liked to have seen her with her classic 2k3 outfit at least once though. I hated Casey Jones new mask though. New opening was nice though it wasn't my favorite remember when we as a fandom got together so the awful rap theme which was winning didn't? haha good times. And out of all the season 7 proposals we did get the best choice so we dodged a bullet there. The one about it being more like the old toon would have been nice however it really didn't fit in the 2003 universe not to mention it couldn't have been given justice with all the potential the OT mutants has in just one 13 episode season.

One thing I missed about FF and BTTS was the monologue openings, at first I wasn't a big fan of them and considered them filler but they grew on me. I liked Don being a bit angsty and getting focus in this season, I've come to really like Donatello. Oddly enough Leo has been mostly plain the past two seasons (FF/BTTS) he's mainly just there, not a big problem but I did notice. Mikey beating Cyber Shredder was a nice touch even if he didn't "die", I think Raph was mostly reduced to one liners this season though. Serling being there was kinda pointless, I guess he was there to fulfill the mentor role since Splinter wasn't but he didn't really do that much either, I did liek that it at least acknowledged that FF wasn't forgotten and even though Splinter wasn't there the whole season I didn't miss him too much. Master Kahn had a strong first episode but after that he wasn't much of a threat, that was a shame. I found Cyber Shredder a great way to bring Shredder back without it being Shredder, I was glad he wasn't Viral taking the mantle like some posts led me to believe. Hun's role here wasn't bad and the VA was definitely better than the previous two seasons or they got the original back. I actually liked the costume changes the turtles had and they would make good variants, I would have liked a bigger version of the "ninja" outfit and would have LOVED to own Foot Ninja Turtles. Yeah the skating clothes looked cheesy as hell but I found it amusing like seeing the original toy line wacky costumes being animated. I felt they divided Splinter into too many bits counting they barely ever get splinter bits in the actual season, out of all the times they do only half the time they actually got a few while they said he was split up in thousands, why not just say "seven" pieces or something?

I have a ton of questions though, why was Baxter Stockman not with Bishop? He was with him at the end of the lost season and his last appearance before FF he was still with Bishop, I guess he left Bishop did his thing and returned to Bishop again to make it fit. Where was Uncle Augie and Robyn at the wedding? Also a bit silly that all those amazing fighters did not decimate the foot, it would have been more interesting just seeing them do that but oh well I get it. Why was Splinter in the cyber world? The time window was a way to travel through time why did he get stuck on the internet? That makes absolutely no sense. How did Mikey send them to the Shredder Wars future? I assume thats what a season 8 would have been but still Mikey persuaded Viral to send them to that future but how did he know that there would be some kind of Shredder Wars? So whats up with the turtles not using the Mystic Powers of the lost season? I'm glad they didn't but kind of a big plot hole. My biggest problem with the season is Karai, why did she have nothing to do with the season? I mean you'd think with the foot she'd have some kind of role after all she was the last person controlling the foot, not to mention she should have had some kind of relationship with the Cyber Shredder since she was part of the scanning of Ch'rell digitally, she should have either been against Cyber Shredder or she should have been the one to try to get him out.

Which brings me to my theory, I think BTTS is just Fast Forward season 2 re-tooled to work in the present age. There are a ton of clues to make this pretty obvious in my opinion. Serling came back because he's not a character that had a counterpart in the present so he was needed. Episode titles from FFs2 share some names with BTTS. Karai has no role in the season because she was no longer alive in 2105 which is why we get Master Kahn and Cyber Shredder works perfectly for the future, in fact FFs2 would have started similarly turtles try to go back in time but Viral stops them traps Splinter in Cyber Space just the turtles remain in the future, Viral finds the old Foot file and Cyber Shredder is born. The whole entering Cyber World makes more sense being plausible in the future than in the present anyway. April's role of helping Don is just Cody's role in fact April even used Turtle X mode. It also makes sense counting how quickly the season came out shortly after the direction was decided, they tried to save as much of the work of FFs2 as possible into BTTS which too bad we didn't see Space Usagi in BTTS, I mean with time travel it was possible oh well. Maybe most of you figured this out already but I don't recall ever reading anyone mention it.

I saw Mayhem in Mutant Island and was surprised it wasn't flash animated like I thought it was. It was definitely a fun little story, I mean thats what you have to see it as since thats what it is, did the episode version of Mayhem have extra stuff or was it the same? Did they add more commercials to make up for the missing time? I also saw a few of the flash shorts I think about 11 but I know there are more since I remember seeing one that I didn't see today, anyone have more info on those? They were surprisingly entertaining. I'll be seeing Turtles Forever this weekend and I'll likely post an overall opinion of the whole show after that.

BTTS was the trendy thing to hate at the time. It wasn't as good as promised but it was better than what some people made it out to be.

Also Mikey didn't know the Shredder Wars where going to happen, he just taunted Viral into sending the turtles into a more technologically advanced era so that Don could fix Serling and they could use his gun on Viral.

At least the opening song was so much better than the FF season.
Also I noticed that Raphael was the only turtle that actually looked good with pupils on his eyes

And like someone already said that BTTS was still much better than we could have had like that TMNT card game show or TMNT with younger TMNT.

I think the best way for last season would have been made first half FF season and second half BTTS season , it would have been suprising that they actually succeed in their goal mid season and they could have used episodes that fit more in FF than BTTS in FF half and spare open BTTS episodes for tying up some loose ends.

And yes I'm talking about 26 episode season, not 13 episode season.

Read from the "development" section. Wiki is not the best source but couldn't find any better for this purpose but if you "google" Tmnt overload you should find promo pic with TMNT and their younger selves.

Coulnd't find anything similar to "superworld" aka the card game thing so I guess it never got to too serious consideriation.

Huh. Thanks for the info, dude! I'm glad they didn't go in either route, but sad they opted not to do the Ultimate TMNT thing. Turtles Forever definitely made the concept more... personal, though. So I guess that worked out for the better.

The scary thing is Laird approved it. That almost got made. I actually like the turtles design, except the blocky feet, better then BTTS. The idea is just really really bad. Like taking two of the worst OT episodes and making a series out of it.

Yeah, the adult turtles look plenty good, but UGH is all I have to say about their younger counterparts. The idea of it alone is pretty bad, but they hadda make 'em look that stupid? Sheesh.

I guess it should come as no surprise to me that Pete approved it, after all, he let crappy characters like Garbage Man & Touch & Go slip in there.

To answer a few of ur answers
Ur Splinter Q: Splinter through himself in front of the turtles to save them. Viral shot a decompiler at them while they were in the time window.

and yeah they didnt show many episodes of the turtles gathering splinter

Karia Q: In the lost season Karia and chapman went off in the sunset together.
So yeah if u got any more Q someone can answer them

Actually the better question should be is why Mikey was April's maid of honor.

I mean. SERIOUSLY. WHY? Doesn't April has, like, a sister in this show?

I know 4Kids is implying Mikey's femininity (the girlish shrieks, the crossdressing, calling Don his husband) but maid of honor?

I wish Rat King got a second episode.

Seriously, to see a main TMNT villain like that just get 1 real episode was disappointing.
Actually he did. He had a small cameo in the last BTTS episode. Besides the Rat King really wasn't a main villain in the comics.

As for Shredder this season finally made me realize they took a Lex Luthor "I'm a businessman who is evil" persona and I absolutely hate it, it does not fit him at all, it worked to modernize Lex Luthor from just an evil scientist but not Shredder. Why does it not fit him? I actually liked the whole evil businessman thing.

I definitely have a few questions with this season though. Why is Hun so loyal to the Shredder? I mean he is extremely loyal so there must be a reason right? Maybe he sees him as a father figure or something? You know what didn't make any sense in "Same As It Never Was" Hun is still loyal to Ch'rell. Yet in later seasons we find out Hun didn't like Shredder after finding out he was an Utrom.

So did Hun get a new VA? It definitely seemed different and didn't like it as much, I vaguely remember reading about this years ago I think. According to some 4KidsTV guy on this forum no. Greg Carey's voice is naturally very deep in fact deeper than the normal Hun voice. So I have no idea why it was different.

Watched Turtles Forever and I guess I'll post my final thoughts on the show, to get to the point 2k3 is a great show, loved it and it had an amazing run but I was a bit disappointed that it wasn't as good as I used to think from what I had seen (around 50 episodes) I also don't think its the definite turtles cartoon, it set the bar high but not unreachable. When compared to the OT I don't think its necessarily superior just different takes that aren't easy to compare but that was already my opinion on NT vs OT so it didn't really change, in fact my opinion on the NT is still mostly the same as it was before I watched the entire show just like I mentioned a little bit lowered but overall the same. The rest of the post is just my final thoughts on other stuff from the show.

For the heroes my opinion on them overall are the same as what I've posted as I finished the seasons, Mikey was too immature and made him annoying, Raph too much of a tough guy. Leo didn't do as much counting he was the leader and Donnie did the most, Casey Jones too much of a meat head etc. Overall though I did like the turtles personalities in the show and all the turtles had great moments, would have liked a slightly less dumb Casey and Raph/Mikey turned down a bit. April had a rough start but I liked her and I wish she had gotten more screen time. Splinter nagged a bit too much but I liked him he was also surprisingly active in this show since he'd basically be there for the turtles for any major battle. Did anyone notice how many times the layer got trashed or totally destroyed? It happened all the time even if some of them really "didn't" happen, it even surpasses the batcave getting blown up in every Batman movie.

For villains this show had a great group of them, especially counting they didn't use the iconic OT villains either. The main original villains like Hun and Bishop were great and the regular TMNT villains like Baxter were used well. Though Purple Dragons/Foot/Baxter did seem a bit overused especially since all three were connected to each other most of the time, not much of a downside since they were the best villains but it would have been nice to see more of the others. I loved all the Shredders the show had, though I'll admit I wanted a real human Oroku Saki as the Shredder having Karai/Utrom/Tengu/Cyber was hella fun and because of it I didn't hate it that we never got one. Karai could have been written better though and Stockman would have been nice to see him working by himself at one point he lasted way too long with the foot.

I'll rank the seasons but its actually kinda hard, especially since there are some seasons I like but I'd rank them lower (specifically talking about S5 and 7 which I enjoyed), the only season I didn't like as much was Fast Forward and even then it wasn't that bad so here goes: S4 > S3 > S2 > S1 > S5 > S7 > S6. It took me a little more than 2 months to watch through the whole show watching 3 episodes on weekdays, not bad. It'll be a while before I re-watch 2k3 though, thats the bad thing about longer series its harder to want to re-watch them even if they're good. Oh and while Wedding bells and bytes was a good finale and like I mentioned Enter the Dragons served well as a finale too but Turtles Forever does serve as a great finale though that line of "The Shredder will be back" pisses me off

So here are my final unanswered questions and/or complains. So we never find out about how exactly Ch'rell became the Shredder or his past, its a shame since that would have been interesting and that itself would have answered many more questions that are related. For Karai I don't even know were to start so I'll just say man she was written very inconsistent since I have a ton of questions of her actions but I know theres no real answer. Hun's relationship with the Shredder was never really shown nor do we really find out his opinions on the Shredder post-S4 they seemed to flip-flop a lot. The show uses multiverse and dimensions a lot which causes problems when in Turtles Forever we see the actual multiverse and different dimensions and its inconsistent with the way it was portrayed in the show. Its odd the turtles have to be so secret of their identities when their earth is attacked and has aliens/mutants/superheroes/supervillains.

Yes, but only her Uncle Augie is aware of The Turtles' existence.

So? It was a wedding episode to what was likely the last season they could have even thrown Cop Laird and Eastman in there.

It was pretty much the same except it had a new intro added.

Perhaps, being mutated just had him singing a different 'toon. ;) Yeah but he wasn't mutated in Same As It Never Was.

Why does it not fit him? I actually liked the whole evil businessman thing.
I don't know it just seems like they thought "Hey, it modernized Lex Luthor it will work perfectly for the Shredder", it just seems silly to "oh yeah I run a business empire and train secret ninja clan at night". Heck I didn't really notice until Season 3 for some reason and thats when it really bothered me. It doesn't work for me at least.

Maybe he sees him as a father figure or something? You know what didn't make any sense in "Same As It Never Was" Hun is still loyal to Ch'rell. Yet in later seasons we find out Hun didn't like Shredder after finding out he was an Utrom.

I don't know, we never really go their backstory which is a shame, I guess Oroku Saki did something like save his life or something I mean they were both technically competitors in the black market and its his loyalty that made the Purple Dragons into an ally instead of competition which is what City at War is about once the Shredder is gone he wasn't going to let just anyone take over their territory even the foot. He also had some type of backstory with Karai we never knew he hated her. Once he finds out Shredder is an Utrom he seemed to be confused over respecting the Shredder or not, we see him talking to Karai in S4 about it how she could serve a sushi (or similar analogy) and she explains it was still the same man but during that season he isn't in friendly terms with the foot. In season 5 when asked to help about the real shredders return he comments how he didn't have it that bad with the utrom shredder. In S7 he is against the foot and even the shredder but he may know its not the real Utrom shredder and he is obviously called a traitor by Cyber Shredder who while not the real Ch'rell its still technically Ch'rell's digital "brain" before Exodus happened. In Turtles Forever Hun quickly goes back to shredder and being loyal to him, part of it may have been that he was traumatized by becoming a mutated turtle though. its to note that this Ch'rell unless he was informed by Karai which could have happened did not know about Hun's post-Exodus behavior against the foot/shredder. Though Shredder may have known since he did say "looks like we have common ground again" and may have just sought out Hun to have someone competent to get the turtles for him since he needed them and obviously didn't care about Hun at that point if he died or not though technically he never did. I guess the lien "looks like we have common ground again" might also vaguely explain their backstory that because of shared interests thats how Hun and the purple dragons became a part of the organization but that simple explanation doesn't account to his extreme loyalty. I'm probably overthinking this but what the hey.

The interesting bit should be "how" when Ch'rell's offed in a different dimension.

But maybe he got a dimensional portal hopping do-hikkie installed in his battle armor, and 2K3 Splinter's used to him coming back, so...

Well we were told the Shredder Wars happened after Turtles Forever and episode one of BTTS had the three Shredders fighting. I think its safe to assume S8 would have been about The three Shredders fighting each other, Cyber and Tengu coming back is not hard, a few bits of data of Cyber remained and he recompiled and for Tengu even easier since he's mystical he just got revived by magic somehow. We never really see what happens to Ch'rell in Turtles Forever,f or all we know he was sent back to the 2k3 universe, fact is he is no longer in the ice planet so he was easy to explain that he got back.

Its a shame we never got an 8th season though, I mostly would have liked it because it would have likely explained how Ch'rell took the Shredder mantle, not to mention seeing just the Shredders fight would have been cool. Tengu definitely looked a much bigger threat than Ch'rell ever posed in Season 5, I mean he was able to take out pretty much everyone without much effort so it would have been nice showing him vs Ch'rell fight it out and establish why exactly Ch'rell was the one true Shredder (I'm sure Ch'rell would have been seen as the strongest Shredder of the three). It would have been neat having Hun as a mutated turtle for a season as well maybe even with the Tokka/Rahzar of that dimmension, not to mention seeing the turtles re-build their layer AGAIN. Also I'm sure a second team up in an episode with the OT turtles could have happened, they had all the stuff necessary like character models and people liked the idea in the movie so they wouldn't have thought twice to rehash a team up again.

It's an episode with Nobody. Based from the comics. Mike and Don pretended to be an old couple.

Come to think of it, it must be why a lot of peeps supported turtlecest because of innuendos like this...

When it came to the triple Shredder War occurence, I think it's plausible enough to believe it was a future on the bad guys' agenda, but events that happened beforehand erase its possibility of occuring (ie: Cyber Shredder dies, and then Ch'rell, their deaths being for sure this time), like SAINW. The one thing I couldn't figure out was how Tengu Shredder arrives there in the first place, but one idea is: Cyber Shredder, had he managed to live long enough, infiltrates the turtles' lair, gets ahold of Serling's time window, manages to tune in to Tengu Shredder's final battle (possible accidently) and Tengu Shredder falls into the window before his gauntlet and helmet are destroyed, but they get the illusion he's destroyed so that the turtles still end up going to 2105, avoiding a paradox, and everything unfolds from there. That would complete the closure.

Yeah I thought Hun knew too with Shredder standing in front of him and telling Leo he separated his head from his body. Oh and the Rat King did have a same cameo at the end of BTTS.

Well there was Karai as Shredder. I'm guessing Hun was building his crime empire which we saw in BTTS.

Well we did get to see Saki outside his armor and interacting with normal people which we don't see in other versions. Plus Saki having a business empire does explain how the Foot is able to afford all it's stuff. The funny thing is that Saki's tower has a big Foot Clan logo on it and his Foot Ninja wear uniforms with the same logo than they all go dress in Ninja costumes with the same logo on it.

Next time you watch this whole show, count how many times there is act break or episode ending cliffhanger with someone falling from somewhere high. In FF season its almost every episode with someone falling, in the Turtle Titan episode that season it has even many in one episode.

And it was never explained but I guess Hun was trained by Shredder, he calls him master and Karai being Shredders favorite but Hun seeing himself as more skilled fighter is the reason why hates Karai.

I do have a few questions though. The Utroms were stranded on earth and yet they had the ability to transport themselves as soon as the military started attacking them? I guess they were going for the "they were getting ready to when the whole mess started" but thats too much of a coincidence to work as an explanation for me. Maybe the Utroms got used to living on earth and didn't want to leave?

So whats up with the turtles not using the Mystic Powers of the lost season? I'm glad they didn't but kind of a big plot hole. The Turtles lost them when the medallions were destroyed.

I think BTTS is just Fast Forward season 2 re-tooled to work in the present age. I don't think Cyber Shredder was going to be in FFS2 as Ch'rell was going to return controlling a Triceraton.
