Does anyone think the original idea would have been a good direction? I mean the concept of furthering their mutation is a neat idea but for a live action movie?

Personally, I'm glad that idea never got off the ground. Might have turned out okay, but it's not a great idea in my opinion.

I agree, I was never a big fan of the Next Mutation. Although the figures were pretty cool !

The concept would have fit better for a comic, not a movie.

Eh, well not really. I personally don't care for the concept, but I think it would've been better as a comic than a movie. No chance in hell that would work out as a movie.

It would have been slightly less embarassing than The Next Mutation we got instead... :ohwell:

it was a horrible idea, and I'm glad it stayed on the concept level

I think it woulda made DOPE toys, but that's about all. I do agree with gobo in the sense that it would've likely been a little better than what we got, especially being it woulda been only one movie as opposed to a whole series of... that.

The concept was pretty much cheese coated cheese with a creamy cheese filling. It's stupid to think that "all of a sudden" and "simultaneously" I might add they all get these X-men like powers. To be honest I liked the Next Mutation series more than this idea. At least that one made a bit more sense, ableit not executed to it's full potential.

Cheese is delicious.

It would have never worked if they went ahead with it.

"Because teenage, ninja, humanoid turtles isn't a cool enough concept, let's give them new, mutating powers!"
Cripes, why didn't they add the ability to turn into flames and fly as additional powers? What a stupid idea.

^ In my opinion concept of more special powers-mutations is not so far from NM: 2K3 The ninja tribunal season , and all the "super dragon spirit ninja skills" is not so far from that concept of magic-superskills...

luckily in 2K3 it was borrowed powers since they didn't get to keep the medallions

I think Next Mutation is a good title, but the turtles should remain unchanged. Would have been a good Movie title for a "Return to New York" style movie.

While I love that TMNT is so versatile, I doubt I would have liked this version. The sudden powers would have had me rolling my eyes (unless maybe they pulled a twist and had an outside force, like alien tech/something, altering them. And the whole plot turned into them having to stop the aliens/whatever, but that would make them lose their cool new powers, so what do they do?!?)

I'm not big on powered up superheroes, and I like that the Turtles don't have any. I agree, it might have worked for a comic, or even a mini series. But as a movie it wouldn't have appealed to a wide enough audience.
