What would a TMNT Adventures Archie-published universe timeline look like?

You know, Dr. Spengler's Mirage Universe Timeline has got me thinking what a timeline to the Archie series would look like. Where would all the mini-series, specials, one-shots, and backup stories fall into the timeline? Would all the stories in the primary volume follow each other one after another (I assume that #71 and #72 would be at the very start of the timeline since they show the Turtles as children)? I don't have many issues of the Archie comic, so I don't know where to start. Could anyone help me out?

To be honest it's all fairly linear. Some stuff falls out of continuity all together but most of it follows a set path. It's hard to plot where it goes because it seems like what happens in the specials is only unique to the specials. You never see most of the characters from specials in the normal books.

There's also the mini-series and I couldn't tell you where those fit, if at all. I know the Meredude one connects to the main Archie line as it shows how Aramggon got Hitler's brain. Some of the Mutanimals stuff hooks up with the main books but mostly though the back-ups.

Then you got stuff like "Year of the Turtle" which really served as a re-launching of the Archie line. It failed to sell and never went anywhere. Sorta works as it's own self-contained thing I guess. There's also the Archie and Conservation Corps Crossovers which aren't tied to anything.

The guide book helps to tie it together but as far as a timeline goes it's much less distinct then the Mirage books. Kind of like the OT, stuff just happens. Sure there's story arcs, that last 20 issues or more in some cases, but most of the specials and crossovers do their own thing and aren't written to be put into any set place.

I'd love to see someone try and do a timeline it'd be quite a task. I think a lot of guessing would be involved.

An Archie timeline was something I'd intended to do once I'd read all the Archie material, but despite owning everything right down to the last special and oneshot, I haven't read them all.

Unlike Mirage, as has been mentioned, the Archie universe is very linear and editor's notes clearly explain where to look when one series or mini crosses over with another.


The Specials, though, are a horse of a different color and I'd have to think about them. Many of them are very surreal and outrageous ala many of the "guest" stories from Mirage TMNT Vol. 1, which makes one wonder if they even take place in the same universe.

As I've only read through Adventures #30, plus the initial Adventures miniseries and the first Mutanimals miniseries, I'm not yet prepared to assemble everything.

But perhaps I could make that my next project.

The specials do reference the main story sometimes. Ninjara was in #10 after all.

Anyway, "Year of the Turtle" is the final Archie universe story in my mind. It was the replacement for, "Forever war," and wrapped up the series well.

What is the general opinion on the canonicity of the Conservation Corps and Archie cross-overs?

I haven't read either of them so I have no idea how they deal with it. I remember reading one panel on the official site where Cudley states its in another universe not the turtles one and I guess that works out, though didn't Archie also team up with the Punisher? How did that story work out, the turtles ARE related to the Marvel Universe, they both met Archie :lol:

As far as the Conservation Corps I can't even find any info on them online besides that I think it was only a 3 issue Archie series, since its so small I don't see why it can't be a part of the Archie TMNT universe unless its very slapstick Tex Avery style which it might be based on the covers.

Anyways reading the series I felt like I missed a big chunk of the story by having not read the Mighty Mutanimals so at least that mini was indeed important.

The Mutanimals are definitely a necessary part of the TMNTA canon. As a collection of characters who debuted in the main title and who even had Raphael along on their initial outing, the Mutanimals' adventures weave in and out of the TMNT books.

I'd choose to ignore the Conservation Corps, personally, mainly due to how painfully bad it was and the relentless hammering of eco-slant. They do interact with the TMNT and Cudley, though, and the Corps are established as animals from the same Earth as the TMNT. It's ironic how a book titled Conservation Corps was a waste of paper-- just my opinion, of course.

I remember wanting more spin-offs and miniseries from TMNTA-- the three volumes of sourcebooks offer a plethora of characters asking for some spotlight time. I've mentioned before that the Warrior Dragon was pretty much begging for a miniseries. Somehow a Trap/Kid Terra pairing always made sense to me.

Most of the stories in the Archie universe had an ending, so no real loose ends anywhere.

I mean the Mutanimals are all dead, Malinga/Scul/Bean are dead, Slash is dead, Krang/Bebop/Rocksteady are abandoned on other planets, Shredder goes insane, Rat King is shown in the future so nothing to be said there, Verminator-X becomes "good,", Armaggon is lost far into the future with no technology to help him travel back in time. Ninjara has an ending.

The only "loose end," I guess would be Null, but since he's the devil I guess there's nothing more there.

The Archie universe doesn't have many dangling plots at all.

There's actually 2 Ninjara stories in #10. Funny thing is it seems to indicate that her brother was now living with them!! Naga appears in both the stories. 1 where She, Raphael and Naga go to Yellowstone and another where She and Raph go on a date. I love it that they call him brother.

However if an Archie timeline is ever done it would have to include some Mirage stuff as Cuddly appears in the Tales of the TMNT books.
