So when I was young me and my buddy loved the turtles so much we actually made cardboard turtle shells (Think like a backpack) and wooden swords with which to beat the hell out of each other. It was awesome at the time.
Anybody else? probably not lol! we were pretty excited when the first live action movie came out. I think we built those shells over the next two days after seeing the movie. And a couple days after that they were destroyed of course.

I spent a lot of time playing with the toys and playing Turtles in Time and Hyperstone Heist with my buddy Jay. I used to play the first arcade game at a skating rink in my home town. I also used to have a lot the OT episodes on VHS and watched those a lot.
Ya I loved those games as well. I think I played them the most, I also liked battletoads, but it was a frustrating game. The TMNT arcade game was one of the first games you could just beat up tons of bad guys at once. Pretty ground breaking really. I grew up during Atari and all that so I still remember the first Nintendo and all of it's glory lol.
Nothing beats running around in the yard with homemade turtle shells and "swords" lol. Good times.

The game that really developed that idea was Streets of Rage. One day me and my buddy beat hyperstone heist on all three difficulties in one sitting. It was a fun time lol.
Streets of rage? God I can't remember what it is. I know the name can't place what it looks like. I liked the arcade TMNT game since there could be like 20 enemies on the screen at a time. The Nintendo was weak sauce in the computing department so it only had like 3-4 enemies on screen at a time.
How many did streets of rage have? All I can think of is final fight that came out in the arcade on what? Neo Geo or something?

Honestly man, I never played Streets of Rage enough to tell you specifics like that. I've played it a handful of times and just knew from reading a lot of video game articles that it was one of the pioneer beat em ups. I always played the turtles games the most as far as beat em ups went. They're great for just mindless button mashing fun with some friends. I got the Turtles in Time remake for ps3 but something about it just isn't the same as the SNES and arcade versions. I really love the music in that game too.
Which one do you like better Turtles in Time or Hyperstone Heist? I feel like Time is def. the more remembered one but I liked Hyperstone a lot back in the day (and now) too! I guess it's just cause a lot more people had SNES than genesis and Time was in the arcades too. I'm not sure which one I prefer, I'm going to have to think about that. It's the same engine for both, just different bosses and level layouts.
I would say I played the nintendo versions of the games alot more than Sega. So I'd have to say I like those the best. except the one which name eludes me right now. Oh! The one that was side scrolling and then you had to go to a map view then back to sidescrollling views to fight. I hated that game. I did beat it but the arcade one made that one almost unexceptable in my opinion.
I always kinda disliked the Sega controllers for some reason. remember altered beast? What a failure of a game. The gameplay was so terrible I even hated it as a child lol.
Strider was the sh*t though!
Ninja Gaiden! Good stuff. Arcade version of course.
Ok I just went and checked I guess that game was just called TMNT. Ya I hate that game. i did beat it once though. It's overly hard and not fun. I remember breaking a controller over that LOL!

You should check out the Angry Video Game Nerd review of it if it frustrated you. It sure as hell frustrated him. His reviews are pretty funny. It will be one of the first hits on youtube if you search for teenage mutant ninja turtles.
Ya I've seen those before that kid is pretty funny most of the time. Sometimes he's just complaining to complain. He is spot on about the TMNT game though it is nearly impossible to beat.....as a kid. Just think that game was designed for children.
The only thing that game can teach you as a child is humility and to be a good sport. Because your not likely to beat it anyways.

Thankfully I never played that one as a kid. Although I did play one for PC that was similar (this was when PCs were new like 93 lol). I only really played the Arcade game, TIT and HH. So just the beat em up style ones. I'm happy for my child self that I missed the crappy ones lol.
