Ok,so recently i was looking at the 1988 Cardback of my April O Neil figure, and noticed that it said she was from the Valley , in pop cultute refers the the San Fernando Valley of the Greater Los Angeles..This was kinda of exciting for me as i am from L.A. and i have lived in the Valley (Van Nuys and Woodland Hills)...
So my question is this.... is this real or just something they put on the card??
I have never heard any references to SFV or even Southen California on the show or movies..except "Hey Donnie..California Roll LOL

I always thought it was weird that OT April (or at least the Playmates version) was supposed to be from California. I think in the Mirage comics she really was from CA, but it just didn't seem to fit her personality in the show. I do wonder what she did before she became a news reporter for a New York station.

as far as the OT version of April is concerned, I think it makes sense she came from some where like that than being a native New Yorker. She sure had a that air about her of not knowing what could happen to her by walking around in dangerous areas at night, like someone from inner city would know better about.

It is cool when things like that are found. I knew the comic version was from Cali, she went back there during CAW.
The OT April does seem to be out of place in New York. As Sage said she didn't seem to know the dangers of what could happen to her.
The Movie and 2k3 seem very New Yorker to me though.

Yeah, Sage-Ninja does make some good points. When the OT series starts out April is still in her first year of working at Channel 6 and in the first episode she seems really naive about the dangers of walking around in dark NYC alleys with statements like "we're the news media, who'd wanna hurt us?" So maybe she worked at a local news station in CA and then got the call up to NYC just a little while before she met the TMNT. That would explain how she'd been able to survive without the turtles saving her bacon every day, right?

April's sister, Robyn, lives in California in the Mirage Comics.

We definitely need a Mod to merge these duplicate threads.

I don't think she ORIGINATED from there in the Mirage universe, though. Those profile cards also say that every turtle came from a different pet shop, don't they?

It was the 80's. The valley was, like, totally rad.
;)
I agree with those that said it makes sense she came from California. She obviously wasn't street-smart.

The yellow jumpsuit also begs the question of it's origin. Would that be 80's NY fashion, or 80's SoCal fashion?

That's a tough call. The only 80's SoCal fashion I could think of would be short shorts and maybe a midriff baring top, but that obviously wouldn't be appropriate for a news broadcast, unless it was an attempt to get ratings.
I'm thinking maybe we should have seen April sport other 80's fashions. I could see April sporting one of those dress suits with the shoulder pads, or something with one of those huge belts, or several belts.
When she's running around with the turtles, maybe she could have been sporting some legwarmers and a sweater with one of the shoulders cut off. :)

nah, they're real for sure. Not every top heavy gal is artificial. Besides most "implanted" girls some how come off looking disportioned and OT April at least looked portional.
Plus, I feel a little weird as a girl pointing this out but, no one remembers the infamous foot vs. turtle roof top fight where April gets taken hostage for the first time and Michelangelo unties her? You know the one fan boys went crazy over that was screen capped to all hell, frame by frame emphasising her "bounce?" Yeah...fake ones don't do that...

I've always thought it was an animation error. Seems like a frame got out of order. But I just might be naive.:ohwell:

PORTRAIT OF APRIL O'NEIL
TV News Reporter & Turtles' #1 Fan
VITAL NEWS:
Accessories: Camcorder, Gun, Wireless Microphone, TMNT Portable Computer, Ninja Star
Birthplace: The Valley
Height: 5' 5"
Weight: 115 lbs.
Age: A young 25
The thing that always stands out to me on April O'Neil's profile is what is given as her weight. 115 pounds? I hope she doesn't give the turtles that number when they are trying to grappling hook with her.
