View Full Version : My first Super sculpey attempt

This is my first ever attempt at using super sculpey, for the head I used the reccommended baking method but feel I achieved an inferior result to the boiling method i used to fill in the toes, the holes on the back and some of the detail on the chest of a stripped and beat up robotic rocksteady figure.

I am somewhat unsatisfied with the head since I was unable to carve the cooked product as easily as the boiled feet to get a sharper finish, so i'm going to attempt this again but using the boiling method once again, but as a first attempt I now have an idea of what i want to accomplish with my second sculpt.
I think nearly everyone should be able to guess what i'm trying to achieve here, except... will it be good..... or evil ;)

And heres the paint.... :)

Going to bed now... and i'll start the rest of the paint tomorrow.
I in no way intend for this to be cartoon accurate... i make my customs as if playmates were to make the toys themselves with a little cartoon resembelancy but in no way being cartoon accurate.... i'm going to go crazy on the colours on this guy.... maybe even give him a metallic finish..... we will see. If it looks terrible I can always just paint over :)

Your Rex-1 is looking promising so far--it's a character I've never seen done before as a custom too, which is also a plus.

Indeed, never seen Rex-1 or MACC for that matter.

Hey thanks for the comments :) and yes it is indeed Rex-1.

And most of the paint work is done, I used considerably different colours from his cartoon appearance most noteably the torso is a much darker blue and is metallic... and now looking back at it... it probably wasn't the best choice.
I still have a bit of painting to finish so i'll wait till the end before I decide if I want to repaint him. I had an accident halfway through already and have already stripped the figure once so i'm not in a hurry to do that again. :p
Also the eye visor I have somthing planned for... i quickly coloured in some eyes with pen just for the photo... this is not how the final Rex-1 is going to look :)
Also are there any opinions on the head?... i'm really so so on it... it ahsn't been attached yet so i'm considering giving it a 3rd shot. I only used sculpy as I could not find a suitable head to modify. Thanks :)
