I hope that im not alone here, but does anyone else want the 80 to happen again? This may be because I missed it the first time around, being i was born in 1988. Another reason is I like things that are so stupid and unlikeably, that I become attracted to them, like the color brown and the mullet, one of the uglyiest hair cuts ever. Anyways, does anyone else want the 80's again?

Tokka-B

nope, 10 years is good enough for me, lets not ruin it while they were somewhat good.... Lets just progress in time and technology...backwards thinking for the most part is bad...

Hello? Have you been living under a rock? These past two years have been nothing BUT an 80s revival.

With is kind of ironic, since the 80s was a revival of the 60s and 70s...

Wait, are we saying live in the 80's today? Or if 80's is a great decade? I am confused, cause some people just mention good things about it, and aren't on topic... :-?

Leo656
04-11-2003, 11:45 PM
The 80s were cool because it was a great time to grow up. Look at all the cool stuff they had back then: TMNT, Ghostbusters, the video game explosion, He-Man, Thundercats, Voltron, etc etc...

What did the kids in the 90s have? Power Rangers and Pokemon. :dead:

Not to mention, as people have said, all the great movies back then.

And for some reason my mullet actually looks good. I can't explain it, other than I must have at some point rubbed elbows with Nash at some point and gained his "amazing hair" chromosome through some oddly advanced form of follicle photosynthesis.

Ok, there we have it. The one reason the 80s should never ever come back into existence.

Leo656
04-11-2003, 11:57 PM
If everyone's mullet looked like my mullet, nobody would make fun of mullets because unlike most, mine's legit, straight up.

And Poison's new album last year was pretty good, GK. I saw them instead of going to Ozzfest.

Rebel! Rebel! Jersey Represent!

Poison's newest CD is called "Hollyweird". The only thing that makes it feel incomplete is that there's no "power ballad". Ah well.

For me, I was glad I got to see Poison, Faster Pussycat, Winger and Cinderella instead of going to Ozzfest. It was cheaper, I actually could see what was going on, and all the bands actually put maximum effort into their performances and looked like they were actually having fun. I'd rather see a show like that than watch Ozzy in his current state shuffle around onstage like he was 75 years old and forgetting the words to songs he's been singing for 25 years.

Ozzy is The Man and everything it's just really, really sad how far he's deteriorated. :(

I think revivals could be good in some cases, for erradicating those mistakes that should've never happened, by example...imagine this:
Bananaman from the 80s is revived, bananas in pajamas from the 90s are revived, since bananaman's source of power were bananas he could eat the bananas in pajamas then die from a banana overdoze for eating 2 giant and quite retarded anthropomorphic bananas.
In short, they both die.
It's a win-win situation people!

Heh, funny you should mention that. I think I out of anyone on here wishes for an 80's entropy to happen...luckily, it's slowly happening as we speak!(80's video games, cartoons, freaking ALF!)

Besides, the 80's had the best damn movies...EVER. The 90's? The Matrix...and that was the last year of the decade.

I actually do a webcomic about a kid inthe future who wishes the 80's would return, heh.

The 80's was without qustion, the most magical, joyours, innocent celebration of wonder and imagination....ever. Especially the mid to late 80's...may that endless cocnerto come back!

For me, I was glad I got to see Poison, Faster Pussycat, Winger and Cinderella instead of going to Ozzfest.:(

two words: great white.

Another reason is I like things that are so stupid and unlikeably, that I become attracted to them, like the color brown and the mullet, one of the uglyiest hair cuts ever. Anyways, does anyone else want the 80's again?Uhhhh....are you a doof or something? I think it goes without saying that anybody who's a member of this site out of passion for the ORIGINAL TMNT loves the 80s, myself included :D

I try to tell my friends at school who hate the 80s (pretty much all of them) that just because you didn't live through those years at the right age doesn't mean you have to think it was a "stupid" decade. In particular, I use the example of how I started listening to the radio when I was about 2 or 3 (that would be in 1987) and that from there I became a part of the 80s culture at a young age. Hell, if I didn't, I wouldn't be the TMNT fan that I am today!

Tokka-B
04-13-2003, 02:56 PM

Reznorite420
04-13-2003, 05:36 PM
Tokka: My b-day is Oct. 3, 1984. I was very cognizant at an early age, unlike most people my age. I caught on with the TV shows, music, vernacular, and other stuff at the time. I don't think YOU have any right telling what I think my own opinion about a certain decade is. I might as well say that the 60s were "stupid" because of the long hair, folk music, tie-dye shirts, colored glasses, potheads, and all that other stuff. Fah, hang the 60s I say :P

And as for the movies, I'll bet you're only thinking of the cheeseball, Molly Ringwald-ish movies of the time (IE Adventures In Babysitting and Sixteen Candles). ONE of those popular movies was good, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, but don't let one particular type of movie budget and quality epitomize the era. Just look at:

- Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi
- Top Gun
- Aliens
- Predator
- Robocop
- Back to the Future
- Spaceballs
- The Evil Dead (though that WAS a low-budget B movie series)
- Star Trek 2-4
- Amadeus
- Clash of the Titans (you should've known I'd mention that one ;) )

That's just to name a few.

Let's not forget the music. I'll bet you're only thinking of the mainstream stuff in that area as well. There was much more than that, mind you. Don't forget:

- Metallica
- Skinny Puppy
- Nine Inch Nails (yes, technically NIN officially debuted in '89 with Pretty Hate Machine and unofficially in '88 with a bootlegged tape called Purest Feeling)
- Other "industrial" and punk bands

Oh yeah, one other thing. Unless I'm mistaken, I think TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES, the basis of this fan site you are a MEMBER OF, began in the mid 1980s as well.

Good night 8)

Tokka-B

Oh boy...

Ok, you say get rid of the 60's?! Alright, throw away civil rights between the races, throw away woman's rights, throw away landing on the moon...nuclear weapons treaty, the list can go on....

Alright, I am not saying the 80's was a bad decade, I think they are all somewhat good and bad. But lets see some of the bad things that happened in the 80's...

This was the decade that bore the term 'SEQUELITIS'... it seemed every other movie in the theatres had the number 3, 4 or 5 after its name.

Aids was a huge disaster...especially in the late 80's with an all time high of people smoking the most dangerous drugs like crack and other ****...

Hurricane Hugo

Loma Prieta Earthquake

Exxon Valdez oil spill

April 26, 1986 Chernobyl nuclear power plant disaster (Probably the worst natural disaster in history) (Also the day I was born..but that wasn't a disaster)

So many scandals and problems with Iraq/Iran wars...

Some little girl fell down a well

Reagan

So I guess they did mask the horrible things with great movies, but lets not forget they were there...
