View Full Version : LionsGate, What's The hold Up?
Ninja Turtles 25 Years

I like to know is since 2009 they haven't released a single 1987 TV series season. They have just 2 more left (1995 - 1996 with Dregg and Carter). What's the hold up? Why won't they release the final 2 seasons? I remember when they were releasing them every several months, and now they are holding back on the final 2 seasons. Not that I'm defending the Dregg episodes, but I like to purchase the final two seasons, because I believe in finishing all that I started, and I started that DVD collection 7 years ago, and I like to finish it.

Viacom and the impending boom.

I imagine these are the reasons:
1) TMNT is in a, "dead period" right now until the new series starts, so Lionsgate probably doesn't want to release any DVDs while TMNT is, "dead" because they think they won't sell.
2) Its possible Nick/Viacom is attempting to buy the original series from Fred Wolf/Lionsgate. We know they had interest in purchasing it.

If those are the reasons then it's their fault why it didn't get released before now. I mean they had a lot of opportunities. There was a time they were releasing them every 3 or 4 months, and now they're taking years in between.

As far as I have heard: Lionsgate still has the License for the Home Video Distribution to all 10 Seasons, but the last tow Sets they released (Complete Season 7 & 8 ) didn't sell as good as expected. So they put the DVD Release on Ice...

wonder what their standards of "didn't sell as good as expected" are? likely not the same as everyone elses

Yeah! I agree with everything said here, and I think that Lion's Gate clearly has an agenda against Ninja Turtles fans to keep the final two seasons out of their hands. They obviously hate the fans and the Ninja Turtles too, and this is just a part of their plan for a revenge.
Maybe if we all send Lion's Gate an E-mail we can convince them to give up their revenge? Do you think?

If you ask me, they goofed up by splitting up the last 3 seasons. Shoulda done em all as one release.

Yeah exactly. Should have just done season 7 as one release too. Instead they released it twice which I'm sure didn't help sales any.

An email! That's what I've been overlooking in my anti-anti-TMNT arsenal!

agreed. Also I got the seasons that matter to me so I'm not too rip **** over this. I mean I want the last two seasons for the sake of completing the series but I'm not making napalm cookies to send over to Lions Gate over it.
