This was my first try at ever painting a figure in my life. I still need to touch it up around mask and joints but wanted to share. Im trying to do the other guys as well this week. It was a black and white mikey in the beginning.

I've been thinking of trying to find a black and white set to do this with too. Very good job man. I know how hard it is to start trying to do this kind of thing, I'm at the same stage you are. This looks really good though. I can't wait to see the other three.

Thanks guys it was a fun few hours working on this guy. I went to hobby shop with wife and she wouldnt let me leave til we purchased the acrylic paints cause she is always hearing me talking about taking a shot at painting the black and white set.Im half way finished with raphael.I Hope to finish him tomorrow and I will post pics.

I've also thought of getting a B&W set so I could try and make the other four turtles. I think it would be cool to try and make a Tokka, Slash, Venus, and Kirby in classic style. But I'm scared to start sculpting.

But anyway back on topic, yeah dude that is really well done. What brand paints did you use?

What brand paints did you use? and colors

Im using 2 brands called tamiya color acrylic paint mint and a model master brand. The colors I used on raph are a x-28 park green and x-7 red and for the chest using model master sandgel color and for shells a xf-10 flat color brown. For mikey a xf-5 flat green and international orange. I think everyone shuld try and color a black and white set since they arent to expensive. I was afraid I wouldnt be able to do it since I have nerve issues and shakes in hands but its been enjoyable and surprised I have been able to do them with not to many mistakes. Thanks for comments guys!! Makes me wanna complete the rest asap so I can show you. I know the colors have been done before and was thinking people would be like been there and seen that before. Thanks again:tgrin:

here is a pic of the shells on both guys. I left the light and dark places on purpose and also a pic of raph finished but i need to touch up some spots as well havent been to get paint yet to do his weapons.

Seeing as they are reptiles, I don't think gloss paint is inaccurate, and I like the look a lot :-)

how did you remove the pieces and reattach them if you don't mind sharing some tips?

What a great comment cowabunga!! Cant believe I inspired someone to give it a shot as well. I cant wait to see what you do with your figures. To remove my parts. I pretty much did what LOCO said. The belt can be cut at the knot and then beside that there is a place holding the belt itself on and you can cut that loose as well with a exacto knife. The chest is glued so it will take a little bit of pulling on it to remove but should come off pretty well. The shell gave me the most problem though getting off on 2 of the figures so I had to use end of a screwdriver to pry it loose since it had more glue holding it on. The knee pads were simple though. I pulled mine off and it left the little tabs intact on them so I could just apply super glue and re-attach easily. On the first figure I did I actually removed the whole bandana from the head to paint because the bandana around the knot was loose enough I could pull off slowly. On the last 3 I just left the heads together and just took my time with a small artist brush. I found it to actually been easier not removing that part. As for the arms I just pulled loose at the shoulders and removed the hands to paint wrist and elbow pads with a little more ease. The orifinal super glue was my friend in attaching things. It bonded really well in a few seconds. Hope this helps you out. OH yea if you want to remove the head if you didnt know just tilt the head back against the shell and push from the chin and it should pop really easy.
