Splinter's Appearances

I have nothing against Splinter in the slightest, he's great and without him the Turtles would be guideless in many of their actions (not to mention they wouldn't be Ninja...)

That being said (and I almost feel *bad* saying this), did anybody ever pout a little when you found out Splinter was going along with the Turtles to fight or confront Shredder? I mean, I know it's really Splinter's battle in a way, but it's a given when he comes along that he'll either a) defeat Shredder himself or b) get hurt in the process thus distracting the Turtles.

I don't know, I'm a stickler for the Turtles defeating Shredder on their own, like in the first issue.

um, no! Whenever Splinter would join in to go to battle I was always stoked.Splinter coming along almost always garenteed an epic showdown. That rat was for the most part awsome as hell.

No hiding in shame.. :) A lot of people like Splinter going off and doing old people kinda stuff, and letting the boys keep the limelight..

I agree with you in a way. But in a sense, it was also the Turtles' battle.

J/K.. In all fairness I enjoy it when Splinter comes out to fight, lets me know that just because you are a teenager and think you know everything your master/father/mentor can still show you a thing or two...

I always loved it when Splinter would join in the fight in the 2K3 series. He would always lend advice to his sons and be there for them in times of need. Plus, his fight scenes were always kick a**.

2k3 Splinter was the best Splinter ever. I loved when he joined in. Too bad OT Splinter didn't join in on the battles more often too.

At least in 2k3 I really liked when Splinter came along, because you instantly knew the fight was going to be epic if he was there.

Also I re-watched Return to New York Part 2 the other night and this has to be one of my favorite Splinter lines in the whole series.

Splinter: "There is no turning back now, but no matter what happens today, I have never been more proud of you all. My ninja... my sons."

Nothing wrong with Splinter fighting alongside the Turtles. He taught them what they know. He's very good.

I think having Splinter along for the ride let you know the stakes were high. It's like in the Justice League cartoon, you know the battle is epic when you have to have all 6 of the JLAers suit up. I had Return to New York on the other day too, and Splinter's addition to the fray made it just...more...what's the word...awesome.

I enjoyed his appearances too, more specifically in the OT. I would've liked it if he had a more active role in the movies, too.

I personally loved Splinter's appearances in the big showdowns, but the thread starter brings up a good point when looking at it from a certain angle. Splinter goes to pretty much all the big Shredder battles, it never seems worn out just because he doesn't do a whole heck of a lot in between them, but still.

And did any one else sh*t their pants when Splinter was badassing it up with his bow and arrow in Exodus?
