They show enough reruns on TV, every time I turn on the SCI-FI Channel I see Spock. Hell the SCI-FI Channel canned Lexx to show more Star Trek and X-Files. The bastards.

Star Trek Sucks!!!DIE!

Seriously, you like TMNT, which is a "geek" thing, yet you DON'T like Star Trek?

To me it's a safe bet that if you like TMNT, you more than likely like ST of some sort. While I'm not a stickler to the original series, The Next Generation will never be surpassed! I've spent the last 2 days downloading and watching TNG eps.

What?I like tmnt yet star trek never interested me =P
I don't bash it for that reason tho.

I don't bash it for that reason tho.I never said EVERYBODY that liked TMNT was into it :D

Nickokapo

So?
You probably meant that if he liked tmnt he would like star trek, that just because someone watches a series has to like another series, in fact you were assuming he had to like star trek because he was into 'geeky stuff' since you consider tmnt geeky stuff.

I agree with Reznorite420 TNG is definatly best, but TOS is second. And as for those like Duke, I can see why he doesn't like star Trek. Most people now a days can't think deep enough to understand what the show is about. If it isn't about sex, drugs, guns, or some show of stupidity, people like him think Star Trek is stupid because they can't understand it.

Nickokapo

A series needs more than sex, drugs and guns to interest me, i dont happen to like star trek so bear with me :tgrumble: there's a lot of people that dont like most shows i do and i dont put em down because of it...unless they start bashing it
*edit* Also, that does not interests me does not mean i cannot understand it, so get off your higher than thou highhorse.

I don't think I'm higher. It's just a fact that 99.9% of people today are
utterly morons. It ain't my fault this planet is filled with stupidity.

P.S. none of this was ever directed at you nicko. This is just a general observation.

I don't like star trek for the reason that my ex-roommate was a trekkie. Seriously it was depressing to watch some live their life that way. Revolving their life around star trek, i prefer people who revolve their life around reality.
Seriously, you like TMNT, which is a "geek" thing, yet you DON'T like Star Trek?Yes i like tmnt but i don't revolve my life around it like i've witnessed people do w/ star trek.

Actually I heard they won't release the original Star Wars trilogy on DVD until the new Star Wars films are all out on DVD. I don't know about Indy Jones though, I am sure those films will be out on DVD someday.

However just because i don't like star trek doesn't mean i am to stupid to understand it. I graduated top of my high school class and currently have a 4.0 gpa in college. So i think i can comprehend a television show. My previous post explains why i hate it with a passion.

Duke: So what? Big f-ing deal, you're the top of your class making an A in college right now...does that give you the right to say you're always right?

Hey, that gives me yet another reason for me to find it ironic that you don't like it. ST was created by a thinking man, Gene Roddenberry (sp), who loved both astronomy AND philosophy, if I'm not mistaken. Everybody I know that's into Star Trek (excluding my own father and grandfather) was educated and very well-rounded. TNG especially was well done in how some of the episodes could actually make you think. Some good eps to watch in particular are:

- Timescape
- Remember Me
- Cause and Effect
- Where Silence Has Lease
- The Best of Both Worlds (not so much for the cerebral quality, but just because of the action and plot...wow!)

Judging from your comments, I'm guessing you've never seen an episode of any ST series in your life. The least I can recommend is TNG; that was undisputedly the best series of all the ST. DS9 was crap. Don't bother with that. Voyager was similar to TMNT: good the first 3 seasons or so, but went downhill after that.

Don't forget that a great deal of the technology we have today is possible inspired by Star Trek. Cell phones, personal computers, screen touch and voice activation technology. Star Trek was a huge part of my childhood as much as TMNT was.

I'm not saying that those people who make Star Trek their entire lives are sane people, they obviously are not. But not everyone is like that. I'm not saying you have to like it, you don't. But remember, we DO have "no bashing" rules here, and they apply to more than just Ninja Turtles. If you don't like the topic, please get out of the thread.

As for a DVD, the ONLY ep I'd want is Trouble With Tribbles.

There is an episode of the old Star Trek where they go to a planet that is controlled by Nazis. That is the only ep that I have seen that I actually enjoyed.

DS9 was crap. Don't bother with that. Voyager was similar to TMNT: good the first 3 seasons or so, but went downhill after that.Actually i've seen some of the movies and i think one ep of the show (might have been a movie i started watching after it started). The show (or possible movie) was the TNG, that Captain P guy hit his head and thought he was in some different time. It was kinda like he went to the old west and his crew kept trying to wake him up. I thought it was pretty stupid.

I saw the first Star Trek movie i think its called Star Trek the motion picture
and i hated it. A stupid satellite was the main bad guy. I mean it seriously was one of the worst movies i have ever seen. And it was really, really long. But it wasn't as bad as swinfan (that movie completely sucked from start to finish).

I saw the movie when spock died and thought it was actually pretty good. Yes i kinda liked it. I liked the scene where he scarificed himself to save everyone else. Very dramatic. Cool line too, "the good of the many out ways the good of the few" or something like that.

I also saw the movie when spock came back and thought it was really bad. I mean if your going to kill a main character, then kill him. It was watchnig DBZ or something when people just keep coming back to life.

I saw some movie where they needed to save the whales. That sucked. I hate tree-huggers.

I saw some TNG movie where they went back in time to meet the guy who invented the hyper-drive or something. Not that bad but certainly not that great.

And i saw some movie with some borgs (i think thats what they are called). It was descent. Pretty dark. It really showed how close the crew was when that Captian P (can't remember name) went after that robot Data.

So, I have watched enough of Star Trek to form an opinion on the topic. And even though every thing didn't suck must of it did. And the easiest way to eradicate a problem (insane Trekkies) it to eliminate the source (star trek) itself. But in after thought, i should have just not signed the petition instead of voicing my opinion. Sorry.

If you don't like the topic, please get out of the thread.Do you know how many people say something sucks in these forums? I thought as long as you didn't bash a person or a group of people it was okay to say something sucked. IMO, i never bashed anyone. I just said i didn't like star trek and i think it sucks. The closest i came to bashing was saying that watching trekies was depressing (and from personal experience i stand by my opinion). But as i said early i should have just not signed the petition and left it at that. Sorry for offending anyone.

Actually Indy is gonna be released on DVD before the holiday shopping season....And the reason they're not releasing the OT on DVD is because george Lucas like the special editions more and would rather have those, so those will be released, and not the OT.

Ok. First off let me explain. I'm not one of those "trekkies" you mentioned. ST: TNG and the original ST are my all time favorite shows, however, I do not revolve my life around it and I do not dress up like a 'tard and go to conventions. Star Trek was a show that most of the time was good, but had it's down times just like any show. You have to watch the good eps to appreciate the show, not a wildwest one :). Anyhow, Duke, I also agree with you on the original Trek movie. It did suck, however, there is a reason. The stupid producer(I think it was the producers) rushed the director and he wasn't able to cut out all the extra BS. If you see the Director's edition DVD of that movie, it is much better. He took out all the extra horse sheisse and also added more light and perspective to the movie.

BTW, duke, I apologize for the post that kinda openly dissed you. I was in a bad mood that day. Hope there aren't any hard feelings.

*gasp* They're the same words I know! :D And I think B'lanna Torres (or at least her actress) once defined P'tack as "stupid human".

Those people who learn Klingon and dress up all the time are the reason there are several terms for a Trek fan. The regular fans refer to themselves as "Trekker" while the extremists prefer "Trekkie".

You know, I kinda want to go to one of those conventions, chase around a few "Klingons" with my toy Tribble.
