Pretty much what I think.
I can sort of manage to watch Next Mutation in small amounts at a time, the musicals are what I've never managed to make it through.
Allthough I do think Next Mutation could have been decent or really good if it was done right. Actually...any of these things could have, probably.

The third movie always bugged me not because of the story or anything like that, but because it seemed like the special effects folks who made the masks tried to too hard to get the full range of facial expressions from the animatronics. I really loved the first two movies where the animatronics seemed more natural. I can stretch my beliefs with four foot turtles, but animatronic amusement park characters? Seriously, what’s up with all the teeth?
I think Next mutation is the worst creation but coming out of their shells is bad too

As did I. COOTS and TNM were pretty bad, but they were the bad that were "it's so bad it's good" kinda bad. The Next Mutation anyway. But the Christmas Special was straight up garbage. the butchered Christmas songs, the random small children strewn about, the altering TMNT voices. I'm surprised the Christmas special isn't winning. Not the right word. Losing?
Ahead on the poll.

Oh, yeah, I agree! I guess the one thing about the Christmas Special is that so few people have actually seen it all the way through. Most people have sat through the whole 3rd movie (which I would claim proves it to be at least "watchable" in quality!), and have given a passing interest to Coming Out of Their Shells and The Next Mutation. Thus, people probably have more hate for the properties with which they are more familiar.

I like all the areas on there to much to vote for a worse. Yes, even Christmas and Tunes, I like them. :trazz:
If I had to pick a worse area for TMNT it would be the Dragg and Carter seasons of the original cartoon series. Where it became the Carter show, and the Turtles were always needing to be rescued by Carter.
or
I'll also take the Power Ranger cross over, where the writers of Power Rangers didn't know a thing about the Next Mutation Turtles, so they wrote them all out of character. It was poorly written and they didn't even bring in the Next Mutation actors to play the Turtles.

Defence for Turtle Tunes and We Wish You a Turtle Christsmas:
I use to babysit a lot... the kids I watched was into Barney and such. I was able to use Turtle Tunes and We Wish You a Turtle Christmas to get those fans into TMNT. And soon after becoming fans they watched the Next Mutation with me as the show originally aired.
Those videos are fun, esp to torment people who take things to serious... I've had fans screaming in horror as I showed them these videos. And if anyone watches some of the earlier videos on my youtube channel you can watch Michael S. (4Kids Leo's voice) reaction to the song "Leonardo had a rowboat".
Personally, I think it's good to have something for the younger fans to enjoy since they can not enjoy everything that we get. Like the Mirage Comics. This is something that could help lead them into the fandom at the youngest age, and than bring them through the cartoons, to the comics, ect...
There's no harm in it. :twink:

Well played, m'am. Well played. I give you for super little kids as a solid defence of the Turtle christmas and Tunes.
I went with the Christmas special. TMNT Movie III and Next Mutation have enough entertainment throughout it to help it all out, I enjoyed these two despite how bad they were.
Out of Their Shells Concert was a cute idea, and I bet a lot of kids that did go to the concerts had a blast and have great memories of being a kid and watching a bunch of green dudes on stage.
Turtle Tunes is funny, the Christmas Special is scary.

For me it's easily Turtles 3. The level of disappointment I got from that movie was higher then any of the other stuff, which I expected to suck. Plus it's not buried. You have to dig to find those other things. Turtles 3 is in your face. Everytime you see the turtles in the movie section it's in that boxset with the other 3 films. They even released some figures with it awhile back. Guess they didn't want to give them a good movie. Not like there weren't 2 others to package it with.
Everytime I open the box set to watch a movie I got to look at the mislabeled disk. Worst of all, it looks the best on Bluray of the 3 live action films. The biggest waste of Bluray disk space ever.

I think biggest flaw in BTTS was the craptastic animation. Most of the episodes are pretty good plot wise but the animation is horrible. Lots of misscoloring and reusing same scenes that really don't make sense when you see characters in the background who aren't even in that scene.
Those....lyrics...who wrote them? Dolores O'Riordan?
Anyway, COOTS is by far the worst thing made, but considering its target audience it's not too surprising.

Indeed. I think most people hating on Coming Out Of Their Shells are going by the poorly-made videocassette, not the "pretty ok for a novelty record about TMNT" album and program booklet sold through Pizza Hut. "Sing About It" and "You Can Count On Us" are awesome. "Walk Straight" and some of the others, not so much. Even "Skippin' Stones" wasn't that bad, and at least Splinter got a moment. I will pay money to anyone who can provide me a CD copy of this, preferably with artwork. I know they never released it on CD, but I also know how many people are very devoted and have too much free time. I'm serious. Cash money. I wore out my cassette.
Plus, I saw the live concert at Six Flags as a kid and it was AWESOME, so suck it. I know the whole concept seems corny, but seriously, you had to be there. FAR from the worst thing attached to TMNT over the years. Some of the songs on that record are better than some of the theme songs from the cartoons and tv shows, seriously.
I almost voted Next Mutation as a gut reaction, THEN I remembered the Turtle Tunes and Turtle Christmas ones. Dear god. I had to think hard to decide, as I rented them on the same day as a kid and watched them back to back, excited to watch something TMNT-related I had never seen. That excitement was short-lived, to put it gently. That. Sh*t. SUCKED. I could see them working on some Barney-like level where it can only be enjoyed by someone who has a load in their pants while watching it, but otherwise it just blasphemes against everything about TMNT that isn't cringeworthy.
Turtle Tunes gets the vote for being pointless in EVERY way imaginable, from concept to execution. Turtle Christmas was no better, but I've always had a soft spot for Christmas parody songs, and at least the Christmas theme gave it a point. Turtle Tunes was just utter nonsense that was so bad it never seemed to end. Torture.

Lots of COOTS hate here. If you think about what it really was, I would say it was quite successful. They totally cashed in there. I ate that stuff up when I was a kid. I believe it's none of the above. All of the stuff listed above would just blow this piece of crap away: http://images.borders.com.au/images/bau/97809149/9780914984313/0/0/plain/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-exposed.jpg:oops:
Just take a look at this one review:
I will defeat Joan Hakes Robie with what she uses so extensively in this book of hers. Right here, pages 47 and 48, where she gives her reasoning and summarizes the evils of TMNT. And I quote, word for word:
"Savior - Splinter (god-like figure, mentor, religious leader) is a giant-sized rat that is said to have rescued the Turtles from radiation and educated them into the Ninja Arts. This giant rat also acts as a father to the turtles in the cartoons, comic books, etc. Should a giant-sized rat become like God? Isn't this blasphemy?" Why is a father figure god? Splinter is Turtles' mentor and guardian, not a religious leader.
"Crime - The Shredder, is said to be ruthless and vengeful and has a brilliant criminal mind. Should we teach our children that crime pays?" But crime does pay! Why else would people commit it!
"Eastern Religions - Krang is the spiritual leader of Shredder. Krang speaks from his middle (stomach) where a demonic-like figure is visible." Now here's an insult! Krang is a slug-like alien who moves by the means of a robotic humanoid suit. Krang's control hub is located in the suit's mid-section. This character was not intended as a perverse religion, but as a most unlikely and cliche alien possible.
"Sex - in the Archie comics April O'Neal is seen as a voluptuous and sexy female. In the movie O'Neal's skirts are so short (or she is wearing shorts) that they reveal her legs almost to the top of the thigh. Should our children see women only as sex images?" I doubt that prepubescent children can comprehend the concept of a sex image. Moreover, a skirt that reveals the top of the thigh is a geometric impossibility. Thirdly, I have seen the film and know the above claims to be entirely false. O'Neal is merely wearing the clothes that were in vogue at the time.
"Darkness - The movie (which is rated PG and recommended for 4 to 12 year-olds) takes place in darkness where "night action" occurs. Children are prone to be afraid of the dark. Many evil deeds are done in darkness. The Bible says...men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil (John 3:19)." Children are afraid of the dark because it deprives them of sensory input, and, therefore, their link to the safe world around them. Obviously, for children who are watching the film in a well-lit room the darkness is not much trouble. Moreover, the film was recommended for children from 7 to 13 years of age.
"Weapons - names of ninja (lethal) weapons, their description and use are incorporated into the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series." Note that only one of the Turtles' weapons is edged. All others are lethal only in the hands of a professional. Also, for some reason the author obscesses with the ninja axe, the bisento. None of the characters use it.
"Meditation - The Ninja uses meditation to obtain physical power and "inner strength." Meditation is a religion that does not accept Jesus Christ, the Messiah as the one true God." Meditation is not a religion. It is merely a method of relaxation and concentration.
Furthermore, Joan Hakes Robie uses piteous and disturbingly implicit drawings of the Turtles to prove her point. Come on, this series was created for teenagers as a spoof of all others! It hasn't a hint of great violence!
Every copy of this should belong in the disintegrator unit!
Finally, check out this thread that discusses these imbesols:
http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=27428&page=4
If the Ninja Turtles weren't so popular, that fanatical ignoramus wouldn't have wrote such drivel. As a matter of fact, she would've found something else heavy in the media to lambaste with lies. Saying that, I don't count her "critical analysis" as a true TMNT creation. It's simple propaganda to fulfill a ridiculous agenda.
As for the poll itself, I can't say what I find is worse. I found good parts in everything except for Turtle Tunes, which I don't recall watching. Maybe I blocked it out.

Just recently DL'd the Christmas Special. I've never seen it, and I'm going to wait till around December to watch it. Last year I got my hands on the Star Wars Christmas Special and watched that for the first time around Christmas. Guess I'm starting a tradition of finding and watching rare, old gawdawful holiday specials that are sure to kill any kind of holiday spirit I have.
Oh, and I voted the 3rd movie. I've never seen Turtle Tunes or the aforementioned X-Mas special, and as bad as COOTS and TNM are, they have some kind of an innocent charm to them. TMNT III is pure crap in my opinion, with nothing redeeming about it.

Man, as a kid I thought "Coming Out of Their Shells" was awesome. My cousin and I had an absolute blast when we went to see it. Even then, however, I knew that TMNT III was awful. I've never seen this fabled Christmas Special though. It looks like I'll have to track it down.

I just can't understand all the hatred of the concert series.:tsmile:Maybe because it's hard to fathom four crimefighters (sorta) who go out of their ways to remain hidden from society (ignore the OT series for botching that up lol) out doing a music tour. :P
I liked TNM, though. At least it still involved fighting bad guys.

I remember I had baseball practice, litte league, that day. My parents left me, yeah left me, at my request to go to PIZZA Hut to get it. They said the lines were around the building and that they got the last one of 3 copies of the album. I even stlll have the video tape of the making of the tour. So young.

While it is fan art and not an "official" TMNT creation, it has my vote as "the worst": Triceraton porn. Found it while Googling "triceraton". There are some things you just can't unsee, no matter how badly you want to.

I'd say the third movie. I'd heard it was bad before I watched it but I did not know how BAD. You cannot stress the level of disappointment I experienced. The only way I could make it through was to find all the ridiculous parts and laugh at them.
I've only seen the first five episodes of TNM and a random episode I caught on TV but it has some bearable parts, especially the premiere 5-parter. I like the designs of the turtles in it (besides the masks that cover the entirety of Leo's and Donnie's faces) and the characters were done all right. It could have done much better if Venus had effort put into her character (she calls her magic the art of Shinobi but Shinobi is just another word for Ninja and she learned it from a Chinese man).
I've also seen bits and pieces of COOTS and have read about it. Not good but not to the level of terrible that is TMNT 3.
Maybe my vote would be different if I've seen Turtle Tunes or the Christmas special. But some people here have said the anime should be on the poll. No way! I find it super enjoyable for the overly long toy commercial it is. It has some genuinely funny bits. :D

The only way I could make it through was to find all the ridiculous parts and laugh at them. Now imagine being a 12-year-old who had waited two years to see the film after being hyped up from the second in hopes of Super Shredder or another REAL Turtles villain showing up and then getting what we got?
So much potential...all wasted.
MsMarvelDuckie
10-04-2014, 10:31 PM
How was it wasted? They were going with villain(s) that made sense for the time-period and location- ie, Feudal Japan. Just because they used a NEW villain for the movie doesn't mean it was wasted potential. It was actually well-done, story-wise, and the characterizations were right in line with the first movie- even better, in the case of Mikey and Donnie. (Who was voiced by Feldman like the first film, and honestly, I liked having him back. His voice still fit better with that version of Donnie than the other VA did.)
My vote goes to the Christmas Special, because of ALL the TMNT-related media I've seen, it was the worst. I remember loving the cassette of the COoTS Tour as a kid, because I never got a chance to go see it, and I had really wanted to. But that Special? Ugh, watching it as an adult (and this after seeing TNM again, or at least attempting to watch that series) was just unbearable. Couldn't even finish it. And COoTS was fun for me- I still play some of those songs now, and I still remembered the lyrics to most of them from way back when!

Why is Image not an option? That run is horrible and far from what we know the turtles as today.
Turtle Tunes and We Wish You A Turtles Christmas should be lumped together as an option and IMHO TMNT III does not deserve to be on the list like Image does and should win.

I felt the potential was wasted because they could've done something else with a more interesting story. I was also still sore over Super Shredder being done in by a dock where he was crushed in movie 1 and able to return.
Anyway, I will admit that movie 3 had a great setting! New villains, ok. Anywho, they could've done a story about Hamato Yoshi and Oroku Saki's ancestors. They could've had a story showing how the Foot was formed. Anything like that probably would've satisfied me.

There does not seem to be a consensus on that movie yet. I will agree that out of the five movies it is certainly the worst, but I don't consider any of these movies that good in the first place while most other seem to like at least two, so it can be a little iffy.
The musical stuff on that list is garbage to be sure. While I certainly don't like NM, I can't say it's the worst thing ever. And TMNT III... I have not seen TMNT III in like ten years or more, so I can't judge it fairly.
The clips people put in videos to showcase how bad the movie is are certaily bad, and the consensus that it's bad has discouraged me from watching it. Although to be fair, it does not seem that annoying or goofy compared to the first two, and from what I can remember there was some themes of the turtles feeling more free and happy in ancient Japan than hiding in a filthy sewer.

It's pretty much divided between being regarded the worst and (for whatever reason) those that think it's the best, with the worst tipping the scales.
As long as new mutation, the Christmas special and turtle tunes exist I honestly can't call the new movie the worst. But it sure ranks up there with those stinkers.

Christmas Special wins. COOTS was good cheesy fun, kids went to the shows and loved it. TMNT 3 was bad but somewhat enjoyable, and Next Mutation was an excercise in cringeworthy ridiculousness. But the Christmas special was all kinds of bad all over. WAAAY worse than the Platinum Dunes movie, Next Mutation, TMNT (07) and Image comics. Seriously, can anybody blame Australians for being so batty? We're stuck at the ass-end of the planet, we get the most insane stuff over here (if it's released at all)... small wonder I have a deep and abiding love for terrible stuff; look at what I was exposed to in my formative years.
