The 2k3 show adapted a ton of stories from Mirage but it eventually stopped doing it so theres still plenty of stories that could be adapted, not to mention some that could just be adapted differently or more faithful than 2k3 did. Not to be limited by that it could also be from other incarnations like maybe a 2007 film season long story arc or the future shark trilogy from Archie or even the Eye of Sarnath from the OT.

Haha, I was just going to make a topic for this, no joke!

I'd personally love an adaption of V.1 #37, but it wasn't written by E & L so who knows if they would even be able to use it. I'd imagine that it became property of Mirage studios upon its publication, so I guess they could use it. It's a little dark, but I think Nick could make it work. It's got some absurd type of humor in it (Don thinking he is shaman would have the kiddies laughing). No. 44 would be cool as an episode, too.

I'd also like to see re-hashes of the classic ep Leonardo Lightens Up, and most importantly in my opinion Donny's Mirage 1 shot, featuring his encounter with Kirby. I'm aching for a CGI version...

How about some of the Archie comics stories

Nothing. I want something new.

I am about tired of seeing people talk about how they want the new show to be based on other shows and such, and how certain things should be redone, or older character recycled again into the new show.

I frankly want something new, and that is what we will get frankly. Will have the same base that every single other TMNT franchise had with story, main characters, but it will be something different no doubt.

It still would be nice to have an adaptation from the Archie comic series, though, don't you think? They can still do something new, but I'm sure they'll get inspiration from somewhere. Seems that the Mirage comics has been adapted the most, though.

I am hoping for new stuff for the most part, but I hope they give a mirage feel to TMNT. I hated Mikey's humor in 2k3

I wonder why they would use the original story lines in all the shows...

I'm not sure about straight adaptations. I'd rather them draw influences from all the previous sources (Mirage, Image, Archie, 2K3, original toon, even Next Mutation) and use it to create their own version, and "ultimate TMNT" if you like.

You guys are being silly, of course we all want new stuff and not a rehash of what we've seen already but that doesn't mean they can't adapt a story here and there and make it their own. If you want something totally new why not make the turtles fighters in outerspace against the evil space shredder and his space foot who've conquered the galaxy. I think we'd all agree that Batman Begins is a great film even if it borrows and adapted from Year One and The Long Halloween, and its still a different interpretation than what we saw in the comics.

Perfect example of what I want from the new series. It draws influences from what's come before but tells it's own story, it's not a straight adaptation.

Using the TMNT's meeting with the Utroms as an example, sure I want the Utroms in the series and involved in the origin story, but I don't need a straight adaptation of the space saga. It's been covered in the original comics and a pretty faithful adaptation over 7 episodes of the 2K3 series, so it doesn't need another adaptation. Take the important parts (as Batman Begins did) and tell a new story.

I just hope they actually make storylines and not just another whole story every episode.

I also wouldn't like it if Shredder/other villains have a new plan to destroy the turtles/city every episode. That'd sooo annoy me. Example:

Episode 1 - Shredder builds a machine to suck up the city, the Turtles stop him and beat him, and then he's just fine the next episode.
Episode 2 - Shredder uses special psychic ninja's to hunt down the Turtles, but they stop the ninjas and Shredder gets beaten again, just to be totally fine and with no wounds in the next episode.
Episode 3 - Shredder uses Dr.Stockman to build a tracking device, but the Turtles stop Stockman and Shredder and Shredder gets beaten again, just to be totally fine in the next episode.

I also want a continuation of things and character progress. Like, if Shredder gets badly injured, it'd be freaking stupid to have him all fit and healthy the next episode. Make an actual story of the whole season, and don't let them have big fights with Shredder everytime. Just three/four big fights with him would be enough, and then maybe at the end of the season a really big fight when his plan is beginning to work.

I totally agree, Mikey in 2k3 was so whiny and was mostly useless for most of the show. Which upset me, because he is my favorite turtle.

I would like to see them go more into the early years, like how they get their weapons and colors. I think if done well it could fun to watch.

I kinda like the whole Raphael took over the Foot clan as Shredder in Image.

I also like the Eye of Sarnath in the OT. Planet of the Turtleloids too (there was an episode in Ben 10 Ultimate Alien about pacifist alien space turtles and I remember going "Aw, man, that should've been used by 2K3!").

The Utroms should've been used more IMHO. I was expecting more interactions of them because of Bishop's anti-alien thing but it never came up.

Ninjara, and her Japanese fox clan.

I wish this would be done outside the comic at least once, but I am pretty sure it isn't going to happen in the new show.

I think honestly how deeply into the lore of the guys and what storylines we get may depend a lot on how long the show lasts. I am assuming the first season a lot of time is going to be spend setting up the character, then there origin and then I am assuming the Shredder (unless they have another main villain but probably not)

I don't really see them getting into more meaty story lines (like a lot of what is listed here) unless we get a second season of the show??

Yeah, but I think this might be really good. We can get a lot of individual character development amongst the Turtles with this. It seems like Nick is really interested in character development from the little they've said about TMNT. Would anybody agree or disagree with that statement?

I completely agree. They keep stating how they are really trying to show the Turtles as individuals.

Which to me also says character development.

I thought they said first (few?) episode(s). Seems kinda weird to do 26 episodes of origin. Overkill is the word.

My exact thoughts also when I first heard of the buy-out.

Shredder would be there teacher, Krang there principal. Karai would be superintendent....

Still doesn't beat Smallville for the the longest origin story.

I just had the thought that given the designs seem similar to the movies maybe that's the route they'll go with the stories. A modern take on the first movie and then an adaption of Secret of the Ooze with TCRI or TGRI and Tokka and Rahzar or maybe go the route that some fans feel that movie should have gone and use Bebop and Rocksteady.

I loved Ninjara and Raph's story from Archie as well as the Null invasion storyline.... skull and bean.

I wouldn't want this til season 2 or 3 though.... its a good way to keep it fresh.

I could see it as the underpinning, you know the thing that holds the continuity of the season together. Like how the 4kids series built up to the eventual reveal of the Shredder, though we saw it peel away little by little with each epiosde until then.

Well in that case, it makes sense. I took it as an every episode is gonna be a different part of their background kinda thing.
Which would in a way, be very stale.

This thread was made before the new show premiered but I think it might be a good time to revive it. I was just thinking about the Eye of Sarnath and how it could be re-done and remembered I made this thread.

A original storyline but adapted the organizations of 2k3's EPF and the OT's H.A.V.O.C.

It just make so much tv show sense to have two groups who are two opposite sides of the same coin for a season.

Think how interesting it would be if the turtles were caught in the middle and not know who side to take in the conflict.

I prefer if they just do their own material. It's nice that they want to take elements from previous lore and make it into it's own version and that's cool but at the same time, I want this show to stick out more. I feel that the more they take and adapt from previous incarnations, the more it deludes the series but that's just me.

Since the show is so obssesed with mutants, why not Chameleon? He was good at hiding from people, which is good for the dark, shadow aspects, of TMNT.
Adventures in Brazil
Ninjara during a visit to modern Japan (for some episodes)
Armaggon, Verminator X and greenhouse effect-flooded coastal towns future

What do you mean with "suck up the city"? Bring it into the sky like the Triceratons did with Beijing in the 2003 cartoon?

Pretty sure we're getting that but with The Mighty Mutanimals in place of HAVOC. They did tease a humans vs. mutants arc (or episode?) after all.

There's plenty of time for them to undergo a series of events that sours them on humans, potentially.

I guess so. It would make more sense to simply re-use the characters that you already have like what they're doing with replacing the federation with the kraang.
