I never knew as a kid until when Fresh Prince first aired when i was 9 years old, i watched that show and stated James Avery and i thought "Is that Shredder's voice actor"? then when i heard Uncle Phil talked i was like "IT IS SHREDDER".

I never knew an African-American male was the voice of a Japanese villain all this time even in some other cartoons like Real Ghostbusters where he was Sparkplug.

Creepy. At least he didn't have that Shredder additude towards Will Smith & Carlton Banks.

It's no problem with blacks playing white characters in toons like Cree Summer who is obviously black played some white toon characters like Penny on Inspector Gadget and Elmyra on Tiny Toons.

Avery is an awesome actor/voice actor for the part as he was also the voice of Fang in the kickass "Fist of the North Star" anime movie.

Those are awesome. Is it sad that I remember which episodes of Fresh Prince those quotes came from?

Nah, James Avery's enthusiastic delivery would certainly make those episodes memorable for a Fresh Prince enthusiast!

I dont even think its that, I know with me I was shocked, bc of his range of Talent, to be able to go from serious asian villian to a comedic African-American character. The guy is truley talented

Of the zillion times I saw a thread on this topic, I never noticed anything negatively racist. Almost makes me think Powder's just stirring up trouble... Bad board cop!

Not at all. Do a forum search for "Uncle Phil".

Dan, for example... (among others).

Yes, but Dan was banned for generally being a douche.
