Hmm..what's that you say Shredder? Adamantium? You mean that stuff Wolverine (© 2011 Marvel Comic) has for his bones? That adamantium®? (Adamantium is a registered trade mark of the Marvel Comics Company.)

In other words, could the fact that Marvel might get sue happy keep this episode in the TMNT vault, right next to 5th Turtles Kirby and...uh...Venus DeMilo?

They could have just dubbed it out with someone doing shredder at those two moments and call it something else or mute it where shredder says it to get around it if it were the problem. Neat find tho.

I'll add maybe the turtles are saying it later in the episode as well. I don't honestly remember seeing it maybe you are on to something.

Well a reference to Galactus kept episodes of The Tick off it's DVD release. I will note though that Everquest and some Elder Scrolls games have had items with Adamantium in the title. There's also a band called Adamantium. I won't rule out that it's a possibility but Lion's Gate has released Marvel stuff before. They also have a DVD deal with Disney right now, who own Marvel, so I don't really see that as a big issue.

Well, here's my thoughts:

A. Marvel could care less!

B. The fact that you were able to upload this to Youtube without it getting ripped down gives me hope that my forthcoming parody will be able to reach a large audience!

Glad I could help...but let me double check to mak sure it's still there now. :D

Ok...seems good.

Anyone else love Krang's "Stop being such a BABY!" line?

More likely answer: LionsGate sucks and just f#$*& up and won't admit it's mistake

The reference to Galactus in the Tick was actually a whole episode with a planet eating Galactus look alike, which should fall under parody so who knows why, the tick released every episode in the UK without problems.

Worst case scenario they'd dub that line, but really you think Lionsgate gives that much attention to the turtles? They have no idea they even say that, the reason its not out on DVD is because of how little they cared about the reelases and just followed episode guides and halfway through they changed episode guides which is why we got one episode in two different sets and skipped one, this was figured out years ago when the episodes were skipped by someone here. Incompetence, is the real answer.

I wouldn't admit that I am a mistake either.

I decided to watch that episode today while taking a break from housecleaning and I thought about this thread. To be honest my copy is wearing out as it was once a rental video from a Blockbuster, but what really bums me out about the VHS copy is right at the part where we first see Herman the Horrible Michaelangelo's comment got ommited.

Parody doesn't always work the way we think it does. My class had a visit from an entertainment lawyer who shed some interesting, but discouraging, light on the subject. Even Weird Al gets rights for his parodies.

I read at the time it was omitted out of respect for Marvel as they didn't want to piss them off. Which raises more questions then answers because the Punisher parody is still in several episodes. I noticed the episodes omitted were ones written by Chris McCulloch and most of the 3rd season was written by him as well. Probably a coincidence but at this point why not speculate?

In the TMNT Fast Forward ep that introduced the 2nd Turtle Titan in the museum Cody notices a comic that was a team up with Turtle Titan (Michelangelo) and the Justice Force. Mikey states "Yeah that was the time we faught Galactus!".

I seriously doubt a reference to Adamantium is the reason for Planet of the Turtleoids for not being on DVD. Heck there was an ep of Samurai Jack that had robots made of Adamantium and it's a mineral in the MMO Maple Story. There's LOTS of stuff outside of marvel that mention Adamantium. And marvel is far from the first time it was ever mentioned (The Aenid makes reference to Adamantine)

Interesting theory but Adamantium was around long before the episode even aired... 1967 according to wikipedia. If Marvel wanted to have a fit, wouldn't they have done it back in 1991 when the episode first aired?
