Ever notice how in seasons 4-7 of the original cartoon Burne Thompson's attitude towards the TMNT seemed to be inconsistant? In some instances you'd see him acting like his old season 2/3 self, treating the Turtles like garbage, but on other occasions he was actually happy to see them (usually because they just saved his sorry ass). Other times he seemed to act like the Turtles didn't even exist, which was kinda weird. I sorta wish they had done some more episodes where he actually interacted with the TMNT than just talk about them behind their shells.

I imagine the various different writers of the show handled the characters in different ways. This is also the same reason sometimes Shredder was a bumbling bafoon but in other eps he was a ninja master.

I always saw a little JJJ in Burnes too. I think Perry White is the only newspaper/tv editor character in pop culture history to not hate the superhero he reports on.

Yes, my favorite one was in "Raphael vs. The Volcano" where he didn't flinch a bit when the Turtles interacted with him on the viewscreen in April's van. I thought that was weird. I liked the interaction at the end of "Cry HAVOC" although it didn't last long. :(
