I going with the 4kids cartoon, Since the main villains were an actual threats to the turtles, compare to the Fred Wolf cartoon.

I guess for me "better" doesn't mean "bigger threat" as much as "more memorable." With that said...Fred Wolf, by a mile!

Definitely this, but also better to me means cooler.
I'll take Groundchuck & Dirtbag over Touch & Go ANY DAY.

I voted 4kids. While I like the Fred Wolf rouges better, I thought 4kids made better use of theirs while the OT had a lot of wasted potential.

Fred wolf sense I was there from day one.I do agree that the y2k3 version had more meaner villians. The OT villians were more memorable.Though some were forgetable(Captain Filtch comes to mind):D.

The Fred Wolf cartoon had a much broader Rogues gallery then 4Kids had, but the 4Kids villains where more developed.
Then again Fred Wolf's villains where more memorable.
So for the sake of the poll I'll vote for the Fred Wolf cartoon

Even though the Fred wolf cartoon villains were more memorable compare to the 4Kids cartoon villains, i still prefer them to be a threats to the turtles.

Fred Wolf. It's hard to top Rock Soldiers, Slash, Groundchuck, Dirtbag and the OT version of Leatherhead.

Tough call. If I'm going to measure both it's a matter of quantity over quality. The Fred Wolf villains were best outside the actual cartoon. The Slash everyone loves is the toy, the awesome Archie version, not the retarded one from the cartoon. That could be said for 90% of the rogues gallery.
If this is all encompassing you have to take all the lame mad scientists and stupid one off side villains into account. Fred Wolf has diversity but the quality of villains was a lot better in 2K3. They were more fleshed out and had stronger stories.

The old series had much better villains:
Krang
Bebop
Rocksteady
General Traag/Rock Soldiers
Baxter as a fly
Rahzar/Tokka
Groundchuck
Dirtbag
Metalhead
Chrome Dome
Temperstra
Lord Dregg
Leatherhead
Rat King
Slash
Unfortunately most of these characters are only in a handful of episodes. The OT spent most of its eps on Shredder/Krang or generic mad scientists.

Yeah even though 2k3 used their villians better I would have to say Fred Wolf version had the better version. They are just so much more memerable. Slash is my favorite villian and he was only in a few eps.

Definitely have to go with Fred Wolf. Sure, not all of them are as well developed as 4Kids, but sometimes they were able to do so much with so little. Slash had what, 2 episodes? He's memorable as hell.

I think that many of y'all have already hit the central issue here right on the head. The 4Kids villains were much more credible threats on the whole, but the original show's villains were just much more colorful and interesting. For me, the variety and vibrancy of the world the original show took place in is what has always grabbed me. A big part of that are the interesting villains that appeared in droves. So, I had to go with the Fred Wolf version. On the other hand, I agree with Spitfire, many of the OT characters, including their villains, were much more interesting OUTSIDE of the show, especially in the Archie comics.

I put 4kids. Fred Wolf had too many one-shot underdeveloped comic relief villains du jour. 4Kids fleshed them out better.
