View Full Version : Why no Casey Jones till season 2?

I don't get it. Season 1 is going to be 26 episodes, so why exactly can Casey not debut in a single one of these first 26 episodes?
Introducing him early on always works best, since otherwise Casey will miss most of the early Shredder/Foot confrontations. Waiting all the way till Season 2 for him to appear will be quite some time, not till 2013 at the earliest.
I hope they change their minds and at least introduce him in late Season 1, somewhere around the 18th+ or so episode at the least.
On another note, its funny how they already confirmed the show will get a second season, so that's 52 episodes in the bag right from the start. I think we can break the 150 ep count like the original series and 4kids toon did.

Perhaps to develop the characters without having to develop other ones so early on?
It's actually a kind of easy answer to get yourself without posting a thread about it.

Because.
On another note, its funny how they already confirmed the show will get a second season, so that's 52 episodes in the bag right from the start. I think we can break the 150 ep count like the original series and 4kids toon did.
Not confirmed, just an assumption that it will happen.

Yeah, like Rose said, "Confirmed" and "planned" are two different things.
Also, Casey is being held out because his traditional "vigilante" form will simply be a mutation from a young boy seen in April's school in the first season. Grade school Casey has a "mutant" form that makes him into an older looking, tough guy and is able to win April's affections. But as a kid, she just ignores him in school. He's gonna be rockin' the old Prince Adam/He-Man complex.

The 4kids series debuted him in the...4th episode, wasn't it? They managed to develop the Turtles, Splinter, April, and Baxter Stockman all in the first 3 eps, and give us Casey in the 4th.
This makes me worry Casey will be a minor character like he was in the original series, rather than more important like he was in every other series.

So Casey will be like Shazam!(Captain Marvel) or Carter! Makes sense. I mean if the Utrom are the Kraang, then Casey can be like Carter...he'll have the Mirage name, but be like the FW character. I like it. I'm glad that they revealed this. It's the best news about the Nick series I've heard. I'm going to make sure to post this information in every thread in the Nick Turtles sub-forum!
They knew fans would be pissed off at a High School Junior 17 year old Casey Jones so they decided to wait for season 2 when he'll be 18 and less fans will complain.

I think the part that requires the greatest suspension of disbelief is the notion that Casey could actually make it past his Junior year of high school.:lol:
Although to be fair, Tristan Jones wanted to set him up as a gifted student that suffered some major mental trauma and derailed his path in life.

Casey didn't really have a bigger role until the Shredder came back. So, imagine this:
In the first season, everything builds up to the Turtles having their big rooftop showdown with the Shredder.
In the second season, Casey gets introduced and, later, helps out when the Shredder returns and ambushes the Turtles.

Nick isn't interested in introducing all the elements to the story immediately. Expect things to roll out slowly throughout the first season, and for them to continue in that fashion in subsequent seasons. If you want things to be exactly like the 4Kids series, you should just watch that series instead of expecting the new series to follow in its wake.

I hope they don't limit the cast in the first season to the basics.
I really hope we at least get some secondary villains like Rat King, Leatherhead, etc. introduced. Seeing Shredder/Foot/Baxter in every ep would get stale fast.
On top of that we have no indication if Bebop/Rocksteady will make an appearance.
I want my Donnie/April/Casey love triangle Dammit!

As a big Casey fan it does bother me we wont be getting him tell later. Heck even the first live action movie included him. But as long as he shows up and is developed I'll be happy. I just really don't want a FW version again. That has to be the worst Casey to date.

My favorite aspect of Casey has always been the fact that he is a damaged person trying to do what he thinks is right. His relationship with April and Shadow are the best stories I like him in.

Although you have to admit, Baxter Stockman in a cybernetic power suit in the pilot is a pretty quick way to get into the action.
But... that's assuming the pilot was more for show than what we'll see in the actual first episode, right?

Wouldn't it be an interesting twist to have 22 year old Casey Jones trying to finish High School with April because his dumb ass dropped out years earlier, and she is the only one who will talk or befriend him because everyone else thinks he's a loser?
