TMNT History Timeline

If there is a thread already for this just smack me with a link...

The idea behind this thread is to create a timeline for the history of TMNT. Not continuity of cartoons and comics but just history of them... See below for an example.


November 1983 - TMNT idea is born
May 1984 - First TMNT comic released (TMNT Vol.1 #1)
December 28th, 1987 - Original TMNT cartoon hits TV airwaves
June 1989 - First TMNT video game released in North America
1990 - TMNT The Arcade Game released
March 30th, 1990 - First movie premiers
1991 - TMNT Fall of The Foot Clan (Gameboy)
1991 - TMNT Manhattan Project (Dos)
March 22nd, 1991 - 2nd movie premiers (secret of the ooze)
March 17th, 1993 - 3rd movie premiers (turtles in time)
August 1993 - Vol. 1 of comics ends
October 1993 - Vol. 2 of comics begins
October 1995 - Vol. 2 ends
June 1996 - Image's TMNT comic (Vol. 3) Begins
November 1996 - First animated series ends
September 1997 - Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation begins on Fox Kids
March 1998 - The Next Mutation ends
October 1999 - Vol. 3 ends
December 2001 - Vol. 4 Comic From Mirage Begins
February 8, 2003 - 4Kids Cartoon hits TV airwaves
March 23rd, 2007 - 4th movie premiers (TMNT)
October 2009 - TMNT sold to Nickelodeon/Viacom for $60 million
November 2009 - Second animated series ends


Once I get more dates I will start working on a better format for how to display the timeline (anyone got any ideas?)... Until then just post what you think should be added and I will update this first post... Make sure you include the date! (month and year will probably be good enough, but include the day if you know it)...

What about the 4kids cartoon? That premiered on February 8, 2003.
And Turtles In Time is not a subtitle for the 3rd TMNT movie. It's a Super Nintendo Game/the 2nd TMNT arcade game. The 3rd movie didn't have a subtitle.

Eventually, once I get a nice format worked out, but this is good for the drome too... I think it would be a good reference thread for dates and all that...

Added the 4Kids date... IMDB has Turtles in Time listed as the DVD title... I'll remove it for now...

I think that the subtitle was added for the 25th Anniversary bluray boxset, or some such...

I'm not sure about this. It actually hasn't been left unfinished yet... PL is still alive and well and we have no idea what IDW is planning...

The only reason I know the 3rd movie didn't have a subtitle is because of the Angry Video Game Nerd's review of that movie. He tried to make it clear once and for all that Turtles In Time is a video game, and not a 3rd movie subtitle. I'll have to see that 25th Anniversary set sometime, to see for myself.
