It's one of those little hints that Shredder is an Utrom. Sharp-eyed viewers might have figured this out way back in Darkness on the Edge of Town.

Heh, I can't say I ever noticed that. I guess it wasn't preserved in the toy version since it actually featured 2 swords that linked together.

Yeah, but I was rewatching it the dvd's the other day with a friend and was hoping they wouldn't notice it or they'd have figured everything out in 2 seconds.
