TRU - new york question

[tmnt2513]

Hey everyone...I currently work at TRU and I'm pretty happy that TRU is really backing up the TMNT franchise...with sales, promotions, and contests...but to go further...has anyone here been to TRU times square?...If so how was the store...is it like the dream toy store?... Does it carry awhole lot more than what most other TRU's carry?...Just wondering...because I here so much about it...I just wanted to know if it were that special or not...anyway talk to everyone later!

I got back from New York on Tuesday (I live in Washington) and while there I did check out the TRU at Time Square. I was very impressed. When I found the TMNT wall I was overjoyed. I was so hyped up that I bought all four TMNT on the spot (I haven't been able to get ahold of them yet) and my friend bought Raph and Leo. Afterwords we went back to our hotel room and played with all four. Good times... They are now in a nice configuration on my book shelf.

TRU in Time Square was truely a site. They had huge sections for eveything, a usuable ferris wheel inside, and 3 floors. About one of the floors was near the size of the TRU where I live. It was something else. One third of the basement was dedicated to video games and each system had a large section. You could even play GBA games on a TV there (mulitple ones). I didn't get to check out FAO Shwarts, but this was the next best thing.

The wall of TMNT was so magestic. I should have taken a picture for posterity (but I do have a nice mental picture I'll keep with me for many years to come). However they did not have the mini figures or the box sets (I think someone said you could get them there), and I couldn't find any characters other than the TMNT and the Foot Soldier. Shredder and Splinter never seemed to come into view. It was an impressive selection though and each regual figure was 5.99. Well worth a purchase. Futhermore I didn't expect to ever see that many TMNT figures at one store EVER again.

I found a neat video store called Record Explosion around Macy's and they had TMNT VHS for 1.99 each! So I bought two (I had the third one they had already). I know own all 5 of the pilot episodes as well as 8 more episodes throughout the first few seasons. Plenty of good watching!
