View Full Version : Group Rewatching of 4kids Series.
Anyone else suffering withdrawals?
Until I can liquefy the show and hook it up to an IV, I'm thinking of starting a group rewatching of the 4kids series thread for discussion, starting at season 1 episode 1, maybe at one ep per week?
So, anyone else interested?
--NOW WATCHING-- Get out those dusty VHSs, DVDs and (totally) legal downloads.
SEASON ONE
Ep 1 - "Things Change"
Ep 2 - "A Better Mousetrap"
Ep 3 - "Attack of the Mousers"
Ep 4 - "Meet Casey Jones"
Ep 5 - "Nano"
Discussion thread open on 7/8th May.

Most people don't watch at the same pace. Some people only like to watch 1 episode a day (or week), while other people can watch like 5 episodes in a single day.
Everyone watches shows at a different pace. I usually watch 3 episodes per day of any given show I'm rewatching till I get to the end of it.
Still waiting for some setup elements for my projector, but count me in. ^_^

That's why you set a "One episode per..." limit and talk about the episode on a given day...like a book club.

Both are on Youtube for if and when we get to those seasons/ episodes.
I do this with three different Star Trek series right now and it's a LOT of fun to do.
I fully endorse this idea!

The problem with these ideas is people always stick to it at the start but then drift out halfway. Also people always stop commenting even if they do watch the episodes.
Why not just have an episode discussion thread where people discuss any 4kids ep they recently watched?

We already do this, so I guess this particular way will be an experiment. Also, it will mean people that join in will have the episode fresh in their heads.
The problem with these forums is the cybercubed in them.
Well I just finished watching a little over a month or two ago so I'm out since I don't feel like watching it over again so recently. This is a great idea though, I think 1 episode per week its not going to work, it'd literally take more than three years to finish since its 157 episodes. I think something like 5 Episodes is more reasonable, people can easily watch 5 episodes in one week, whether one episode per day or marathon 5 one day a week or whatever works for them. When I recently watched it I would usually watch 3 episodes per weekday and I finished in less than 3 months, but I can see how 15 episodes might be a lot for most.
Anyways I've actually collected the Discussion threads of episodes, its a sticky in this forum so you can always just bump those topics in case the "book club" doesn't work out.
Are you proposing a "TMNT Episode Club" much like a book club?
I love book clubs :O

A good point. Ok, so is 5 episodes a week too much for anyone, or should it be one disc (~4 episodes) per week?

That could get hairy when you get to seasons 3 and 4 which are WAY out of order.
Then again, we also have different DVD releases depending on where we live.

Luckily, for when we get to the screwy episodes in Season 3 and 4, there are a couple people on YouTube who have uploaded the entire TMNT series in order. I would suggest ForeverMutation, since he uploads his episodes as 20-minute videos.
I'll join, but sometimes I'll probably just review the episode based on memory.

A good point. Ok, so is 5 episodes a week too much for anyone, or should it be one disc (~4 episodes) per week?
Sounds almost perfect to me. But, I think we should add that last ep of the season to the previous week, then possibly take a 1-week breather before starting the next season. Season 5 and 7/8 are user's choice, I guess. I plan to do 6 of the 12 S5 eps per week (partly to just get it over with ASAP :P) and either split S7/8 in half or do 5 a week and Turtle Forever that third week..

Oh...and why can't they release seasons 3 and 4.1 in the US, huh? And season 9 and 10 of the FW series? And Turtles Forever uncut? And Turtles 1: Special Edition? And most of the movies in the Disney Vault!? :D

Returning to the 'drome after a long absence and I've been lurking, catching up on all the Nick news and I can't believe I missed the Turtles Forever film until I came back here. Only to find there was an uncut DVD released for my country:teek: needless to say, I got right on amazon ;)
So I'm definitly up for a group re-watch:P What better way to celebrate the summer than relaxing with some turtley goodness?:tgrin:
Just watched eps 1-9 (my custom DVD set's Disc 1). Boy, Don's voice sure was extra effeminate in the beginning. Didn't notice Dragonface being shown until Meet Case, but maybe he was a silent character in a previous ep and I just didn't notice.. BTW, Casey's extra long hair in the first season always kinda bugged me. You guys remember the jazzy trumpet piece that was a menu audio for the earlier DVD releases? I finally recognized that as the montage of the turtles asking people about the disappearances in Garbageman. So, how about "Turtle On The Street" for a track title? Better suggestions are welcome.
Do I need to stick to the schedule or can I pick up the pace now? I mean, is anyone else sticking to it or will I be conversating with myself here? O_o

U left me behind, but that is my fault bc of my slacking.
Any way I take it everybody watched the first Ep at least, truth be told I was dreading the ep bc I thought oh how boring it would be bc oh its only going to talk about the origin... But I forgot how enjoyable the episode is.
My favorit part of the ep is when they fight the foot, really awesome fight scene.
Also I loved Mikey's joke and how the others would crack him in the back of the head to set him straight
Any thoughts?? for ep 1
Just finished ep 11 and remembered a curiosity I once had. Saki introduces himself to Leo as an "8th generation master of ninjitsu". Anybody got any idea what that means?
Any thoughts?? for ep 1
Yeah. I remember someone pointing out that it seemed a little hypocritical that Leo says "this isn't 'finders keepers', Mikey" about the money when they ended up keeping the truck. Well, the Dragons appeared to have the truck from a previous heist. They drove it to the alleyway The Turtles just happened to be in BEFORE robbing a business.

I really liked how ninja like the turtles are. They have spikes to climb the sewer walls. I also thought the mousers were awesome!!! Also I look back now and I dont think I would have recognized April without the Damsal in distress act or if they didn't refer to her as O'neil... What I am getting at is that she took a real transformation. She looks a lot younger compared to the 87 April

I really enjoyed the way Raph and KC were duken it out, but one thing that trouble me is that KC had more anger problems than Raph. I thought Raph should have had more anger problems, but I still thought it was cool how they met and understood each other... I thought the battle shell was awesome and I like it better than the turtle van.
I thought the purple dragon fight was pretty awesome, I thought it was an average fight, compared to other fight scenes in season 1-5. The episode was jst awesome overal
Nano
I was dreading watching this episode, but after the first few minutes I really got into it. I hated the wanna be scam artist, but I thought he was great for the story line. I also thought that KC flirt with April was a nice touch. I will say decent episode overal

I'm remembering how awesome this show is, how much I hate Stockman ("Just a minor setback", for god sake he fell to his "death" saying it), how badass Utrom Shredder is (I really like how they build him up in this show), and how cool and fun the action is to watch. I've notice more things now (mainly mistakes), I understand the story better, and I actually find myself laughing at most of the jokes. Sure many of them are unfunny or just too corny but they got some good jokes in there.

So I just finished "Tales of Leo". I'm really blazing through the first season. I'll probably watch the rest of season one tomorrow. I'm seriously enjoying this, it's such a great show. The story was done so perfectly. I also found it funny how Casey and April first acted with each other. The character growth is also very cool to see. You see Leo become a better leader, you see Casey's and April's love for each other grow, etc. I also still really hate Stockman, it's like he wants to get punished.
