Ok, so I won a copy of Mirage TMNT Vol. 1, issue #4, first-printing on Ebay, and it arrived. I'm organizing my comics just now, and...

...I notice it's an "oversized" printing and it's too wide to fit in my comic box.

This is a problem.

What do I do??!

All my early issues I have are reprints, So I don't have that problem. My only over sized comic is Fugitoid, and I just keep it beside the other comics on my bookself.

But... but all my comics are in those long comic shop boxes... I can't have a hole... :(

What am I gonna do?!?!?!?!

By the way Karpo I do appreciate your help, it's just I seriously don't have any options apparent aside just putting this issue in a pile somewhere and I don't want to do that if I can help it.

Huh. The only thing I can think of is cutting slits in the side of the box where the issue would go. But that would also restrict movement, like adding to the collection or thumbing through them. Just getting a wider box for one issue seems impractical.

As for the hole, I've seen "bookmarks" in backorder boxes for the expensive issues that you have to ask the clerk for. Just a piece of cardboard with "Issue #" and info written on it. It shows you have that issue, but it's just in special storage. As for where that special storage would be, I don't know. :embarass:

Well, I tried to help. :D

Thanks guys. Looks like this one'll have to be in a separate pile. (sigh).

I thought I was gettin' something special. All I got was a HEADACHE!

I can trade it with the second printing! I can even pay the shipping!

Y'know... part of me is tempted, but something in me just refuses to let go of a rare first-print TMNT comic, even for practicality sake.

Sorry fellas. For about a second, I did consider it, so feel better.

Hah.. I got two of those big puppies. The 3rd print of #1, and the first of Raphael. Since I don't want to buy a special box for em, I just put then in the sides of the box.

The comic boxes I have are long, and the width of those comics are the height of the box, so it fits in there nicely without getting wrinkled or warped. Of course, the box is packed with the other comics so they hold em up in there. Heck, I need to get another comic box now...

As for the bags and backing for comics of that size.. you'll have to buy those at the comic shop. :D

Yeah thankfully the seller was kind enough to ship this fabulous item already enclosed in a bag with a backing board. Cuz I'd hate to have to go buy a stack of bags and boards in that size for one measly issue. Those things are flippin' expensive.

Yeah, I guess I'll just slide it into the box laying on its side. Still cheeses me off, though.

My Raphael issue is an original and it fits nicely in my box, which is an old horseback riding helmet box.

Those issues mentioned are considered to be oversized. They are about 2x as big as the other issues.
