View Full Version : Turtle Smarts

I was hoping someone here would start a thread where we discuss each of the turtle’s intelligence levels. Guess I’ll be the one.:tcool:

Well, first things first. The turtles are intelligent. No doubt about it. Mikey may not be the most, but I feel he has some common sense. Besides agreeing that Leo has common sense, I would say he’s also book smart depending on the subject. Raph is definitely street smart, that’s for sure. Then there’s Donnie – completely book smart! Obviously.:tlol:

Funny thing is, no matter how smart they are, their levels of intelligence are changed in every incarnation. Sometimes, we can’t determine it.:tconfuse: Here’s what I think their IQ scores would be by highest to lowest rank.
1.Donatello – 169 (or off the charts).
2.Leonardo – 127.
3.Raphael – 110.
4.Michelangelo – 105.

What do you think? Does this work?:tgrin:

I always imagined Mike as smarter than Raph but I suppose it depends on which medium you are talking about. Since this is in the general section, I assume you mean the OT in which case I see Don as the smartest, of course, and the other three turtles in a three way tie for second-smartest (or dumbest, depending on how you look at it)

Don is ridiculously smart. Like the ooze affected his intelligence much more than the other three.

LIke I said, "The turtles are intelligent." None of them are dumb, not even Mikey as you'd think. I actually looked up how IQ scores work. If any one of them were below 70, then there would be one as the dumbest. But I know these dudes. They're not.:tsmile: Now I will admit; sometimes these turtles do stupid things, but that doesn't make them stupid people overall. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses.

This is not just for the OT turtles, but for every incarnation: original movies, Next Mutation, 2k3 series, 2k7 film, and possibly the new 2k12 series.

Also, Donatello is ridiculously smart. Though he is, I did not want to give him the same IQ that Sheldon Cooper had in "The Big Bang Theory." He has an IQ of 187. Sheldon can also be obnoxious, and a little condescending. Don does not have much of that, and happens to be much kinder. So that's why I gave him a 169.:tlol:

I absolutely do NOT think Mike is dumb. Re read the post

Sorry. I didn't really mean you, but for the people who thought Mike kept acting like an idiot. My fault.:tlol:

nobody is really stupid or dumb, even "special" people have something smart about them.

Mike sometimes acts goofy. I wouldn't always say it's like an idiot. His original mirage version mostly makes silly jokes and quips to lighten the often very serious situations the turtles find themselves in. The OT seemed to greatly overdo it as far as their personalities go; almost like a caricaturization.

Still, Leo and Mike are pretty close in intelligence with Raph being right behind

Maybe those scores are about right; being a ninja, let alone a full-blown one, requires at least an above average intelligence quotient. And the turtles do have their own slight specialties in different areas, and thereby are each smarter in those areas.

I just don't really know if Mike and Leo are close in intelligence. I know that they're close as brothers. Still, Even if Don's IQ is higher, I'd see him with Leo a lot. They may not have the same interests, but they can have great conversations. I'd picture them watching and enjoying movies like "The Last Samurai" or "The Lord of the Rings Trilogy." In fact, inside the honorable, fearless leader, I think there's a bit of a nerd that sometimes comes out. Must I mention about him quoting famous senseis? :tlol:

I agree that Donny and Leo probably jive best together (although my fav. duo in action would be Donny/Raph) and I also agree that Leo has some nerd in him that comes out once in awhile. Nice movie shout outs. :D

Concerning Mikey & Leo, I think what people are trying to say is that in the comics (Image or V.4 would be the best examples in my opinion), it could be surmised that Mikey is just as maturely intelligent as Leonardo is; just in very different ways. Mikey's interests reside in different places than Leonardo's, and vice versa.

Well, if you ask the RPG book...
http://puu.sh/2Ikg

Yet, Donatello does have a higher IQ stat listed too. Stats listed in book for IQ:

Raph:12
Leo: 16
Don: 19
Mike: 11

This chart is almost like the one I created. Mike is almost with Raph’s. Leo at 16 and Don at 19, that’s pretty dang close. See what I meant about them hanging out together?:tcool:

....mmmm Not very trustly the IQ for a global intelligence ratio: IMO:
Mike has the best Emotional Intelligence...
Don has the best Rational intelligence....
Raph and Leo: best Practical intelligence....

Opinions???

I would have to agree with what you wrote. Leo and Raph do have the best practical intelligence.:tsmile: Still, I find IQ's interesting.

I don't fully agree, saying Raph is/was practical is nearly absurd. I'd say his intelligence is street smarts. & I would switch Don & Leo's.

I thought practical intelligence could include street smarts. That's why I originaly included Raph there. But I have to disagree with Leo and Don being switched. They both carry rational and practical intelligence.

Okay. This has come to my mind recently.

Does anyone have any footage of Don and Leo respecting each of their intelligence? I'm just interested to see since it's my favorite duo.:tsmile:

Plus, would you say they're smart enough to defeat Bebop and Rocksteady?:tlol: I believe it since those two animals are nothing but morons.
