Hey guys! I'm new here. I've been tracking various dicussions on this site for some time now but I thought that this would be as good a time/reason as any.
I just recently put this guy up on ebay. I guess I'll post the auction link in the other forum area.
He's Super Shredder (well.... obviously I guess) I made out of a Marvel Legends Iron Man figure, Super Shredder parts and some apoxy as well as a mask off of the new toon shredder.
He's been a pride of my figure collection for a couple of years but it was just time to put him up and work on a new one now that my skills have enhanced some since I made him.

I have many more shredheads to share with you all including a fully articulated 4kids shredder, my version of the original 4kids Oroku Saki Shredder, a 3/5 inch shredder, and a revamped next mutation shredder among others.
If you guys have any comments, questions or rude remarks please don't hesitate to let me know thanks!

Thanks guys! @ Powder, I'll have at least the next mutation shredder up shortly, the other stuff are mostly works in progress but if you all are interested I'll post up some WIP pics.
@ La Faucheuse, I just set up a thread for it at your request in the fan creations section of the forum, btw, thanks for the friend request!

That's the one I have the most interest in seeing, so that's good to hear!
TNM Shredder sounds cool, I always liked his design, though IIRC he kinda looks like Super Shredder only less spikes/beefed up.
BTW do you have a larger version of your sig? I really like it and didn't find it on your deviantart page.

The blood on the hands/face is too heavy/unrealistic and I don't care for the unmasked head, but other than those two things, that's one excellent looking Super Shredder.

@ rufus, lol thanks man. I gotta admit when I finally got my grubby mitts on super shredder, I was so dissapointed that he was a short squaty guy and just a recast of the slice and dice shredder with different add-ons. I was hoping Neca was going to do great things with the TMNT license considering all their movie toy work but.....
@ sdp, I think that's why I like it so much lol. Also for the sig request, I set up a new thread last night in the fan works part of the forums to showcase some larger pics of the costume, you can check it out there.
@ Patraw... I kinda agree. The idea I had when making this guy was that he was going to have a bit of an undead demon possessed look to him which is why I gave him the red eyes. I meant to make it look a bit heavy with exposed bits of bone and deep wounds... but yeah, gore on a figure is hard to do with paint alone, I think I should have made the wounds with sculptural detail first then painted them.. though bloods always rather hard to do on toys, never quite looks right.
@ agliarept, lol I'll try to get on it, just don't have my hard drive on me atm that has more pics of my other stuff.

Is that really necessary?
Lulz yeah. I wouldn't exactly call that constructive by any means.... though I have to admit the competitor in me feels the need to perhaps meet that as a challange.
I feel it's probably good to note that this was the 3rd or 4th custom I completed when I started seriously making them.

@ Pina and Venom - Thanks guys! I'm glad you like him. :)
@ Raven-Thank you... like I said I think I could have done better on that part of the figure but I didn't do enough research on it before I started. I should've checked out some McFarlane toys or something lol.
Anywho... Here's some pics of the Next mutation Shredder redux I made. He's a simple custom. I just altered his stance and straighented him out from that goofy squatting position he was originally in. Gave him a sash, and decked him out with armor from 2004 tmnt Shredder plus some spikes I made myself. The only real sculpting work I did this time was giving him beefier traps, and some touch up work on the legs and feet to hide the cut and past job. He's a simple custom and he needs a better silver paint app but overall I like him.

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet!
Really like that Super Shredder, jinzin! I'm not sure about the scale -- the IM body is great for the beefy look, but I think I'd want a 6" Super Shredder to be an inch or two taller -- but there's no denying that it looks bloody awesome. What did you use for the unmasked head?
The TNM Shredder is pretty nifty for what it is, too. :)
And don't listen to my cheerleaders (though I do appreciate their... appreciation ;) ). Your SS went for over $300 -- :teek: -- so I'd say you're winning the Shredder competition thus far! Even Jin's *coughprettydarnedsimilartominecough* Shredder didn't bring in that much, and I've seen that guy sell customs for thousands of dollars.
Looking forward to seeing your upcoming Shredders! I still have a few on the way as well, though knowing me it could be years before I ever get around to finishing them.
jinzin
07-20-2011, 01:35 AM
lol.. Yeah. Like I said, that shredder was one of the first real customs I ever made. I wasn't sure WHAT scale I wanted him at and at the time (this is 2 or 3 years ago) I was still VERY staunchly against converting to the 6inch scale of figures (Which is ironic since all my customs got me into the 6inch scale). He looks great compared to 5 inch lines. He's not entirely out of place alongside a lot of 6 inchers but yeah he could stand to be taller there.
Thank you though for the compliment. I did see Jin's custom... honestly his looked like it was an afterthought or rush job or something. I think he can do better than that.... but either way I'll take it! lol.
And yeah I totally get where you're comin from on the time issue. It takes me FOREVER to finish customs too. lol

I agree. Looks to be a Movie inspired Shredder, which in itself is awesome.
EDIT: Wait, Deadshot? Isn't that Firestorm?
^Er -- yeah, you're right. It's Firestorm. Been a while since I saw Firestorm, so the red and yellow made me think of the more recent Deadshot figure.

Good eye, don't know if you noticed though but two of the 5 inch shred's have extremely enhanced articulation from what they used to have. Added double elbow joints, thigh swivel, knee, and ankle articulation as well.
He wants spikes give 'em spikes!

Annnnnd..... Obviously still a lot of work to do on the helmet especially the trident.
http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu345/jinzin2008/DSCN9919.jpg
Yeah, I noticed the articulation! I will say that having done a more articulated Shredder using some of the same fodder you're doing with the 2K3 Shredder, I wouldn't worry too much about the leg articulation -- that skirt's going to be fairly restrictive, especially after you've painted it. (Using the cloth in the center might give you some added flexibility, though. Not sure; let me know how it pans out.)
Really like the sculpted spikes, too. Are they sturdy? What are you using to sculpt them?

@ Wes hey man, I used some Sculpey Flex to make the spikes. I still need to basically anchor them to the figure with some Apoxy because the super glue won't hold it. But yeah they're flexible enough to survive a drop test.
Anywho, here's some newish stuff. First a bunch of pics of my repainted 2012 turtles in vintage colors with a couple of custom chain link weapons. All these guys are on ebay for the rest of the week right now.

Newly completed Shredder figure with a couple of Foot soldiers to accompany him. This figure was made with a 2003 Utrom Shredder and a whole bunch of added articulation, Aves Apoxie sculpt, and acrylic paint. He now has ball jointed elbows, thigh swivels, hinged ankles and hinged knees. This was obviously inspired by the original design from the comic and as such has been painted with a lot of hatch marks, dark shadows, and "metalic" highlights. The two foot soldiers are almost straight repaints. With some greys and reds thrown in the mix as I felt the sheer black costumes were just kind of boring as far as the figures were concerned. I also beefed up the legs and calves so they don't look so ridiculously skinny. The gritty-toon turtles making a cameo in the photos will be the next showcase but are not quite completed yet. Expect them to be finished sometime this week.
The Shredder and his cronies are on ebay for the next 7 days.

FINALLY going to post these damned guys. lol. These are my take on "gritty" turtles. Someone on here (I can't quite remember who) posted a "gritty" Leo he had done using a reverse dry brushing technique. So I used it and I've got to say I like the way they turned out a SH*T TON! I included belt buckles and modded a couple of the weapons. Good times. :)
