View Full Version : When do you think we'll get the Season 10 DVD?

I really hope we don't have to wait another 1 year or more for the last DVD. Although I do get the feeling they might want to release it right before the Nick cartoon starts in next September, just so the DVD could ride of the possible success of the cartoon.
I hope we can get it sooner. I just really want to get that last season as quickly as possible so this series can finally be done besides the 3 skipped eps.
We got it years ago. Where've you been?

What do you mean? There were four episodes released on the first dvd. But I would have to assume that the complete final season will be released and some point. However, at this rate I would say probably some time around 2014.

I think for the final classic toon DVD release Lionsgate should just put out the episodes from season 10 that aren't on the season 1 release as well as "Once Upon a Time Machine" and "Planet of the Turtleoids"!

Why would they do that? Why would anyone WANT them to do that? (regarding season 10 eps)
They should put all of Season 10 in order. Why the hell would anyone want to switch off between a Season 1 DVD and a Season 10 DVD to see all the eps? That's bloody ridiculous.

What, are you too lazy to push the eject button on your DVD player? I think it's a good idea because they won't go wasting precious disc space on episodes that've already been released.
Spitfire

Adding 3 episodes to an 8 episode season will not make it too big for one disk. The other releases have had up to 13 episodes per disk so there's no need to not release the whole season in order just to accommodate the 3 missing episodes. It'd be very silly to do it that way and it would piss off more people then it would please. The 2K3 sets are mostly a mess because they're out of order they don't need to start doing that here as well.
Powder
08-18-2011, 11:47 PM
That'd be a weak release, the whole season should be on it. Who would want to switch out the DVD they're watching just to see the rest of the season they're halfway through? That's ridiculous. The whole season is a mere, what, 8 episodes? That needs to be on one disc. Bad idea.

Pilfered from Facebook (and edited for context.):
I agree with Cybercubed, Spitfire, and Powder. That and how do you market that? "The (in)complete season 10 (for the other half, track down TMNT season/volume 1) and some episodes we missed."
If they add the "lost' episodes to the "complete season 10," since it's only 8 episodes, that's cool.
Heck, I'd almost buy a release of the Planet of the Turtleoids "movie" with Once upon a Time Machine (maybe even put the other Hocum episode on for reference) as a bonus. If they threw in the Turtle Tips, Playmates ads, or maybe even the edited "movie" version of The Epic Begins, I'd be more than happy.

It wouldn't hurt anything to put all eight season ten episodes on one disk. There would still be plenty of room available on the disk.

It would be cool if by this time next year that the fan documentary would be finished/nearly finished, so that if possible a promo on the Season 10 DVD could be inserted covering some behind the scenes info on the series and other items in the universe; a good final send-off to that generation of the show. Or, a special "documentary edition" could be released.

I wonder if there is a way to find out how much season 9 sold?
I'd prefer the final set just be the four remaining season 10 episodes that haven't been on DVD before along with the three skipped episodes (Once Upon a Time Machine and Planet of the Turtleoids: Parts 1 & 2). They can call it "The Final Volume" or something. More Shredder episodes would help sales anyways. Volume 1 with the previously released season 10 episodes can be had on Amazon still for less than $6. There is no reason to put the previously released season 10 episodes on the final set.

No, why release an incomplete season? When I'm doing a rewatch of the show, I don't want to lug out my Season 1 DVD just to see 4 episodes from Season 10.
Seriously, this is the worst idea I've ever heard. People actually want a shoddy Season 10 release?

1. They were released as bonus episodes.
2. I don't care that I already have them, I am getting a Season 10 DVD anyway, I'd rather they be in proper order where they belong.
And lastly, there's no reason all of Season 10 AND the 3 skipped eps can't be all on the same disc. It'd only come out to 11 episodes.
11 episodes on one disc? Lionsgate wouldn't do that. That would give it a Mill Creek picture quality. I'd rather have the complete series on DVD than 4 episodes repeated. A majority of people like the earlier seasons episodes better anyways, so it would help sales. Call it "The Final Volume" and get this series done finally on DVD.

Season 2 had 13 episodes on that disc, and it looked just fine.
I forgot Volume 2 had that many. I guess it is possible they could do that then, but the picture quality would suffer some, because the bit rates would go down. I'd still rather the final release be the unreleased episodes only.

I am sure they'll release the complete Season 10.
This is a company that started off with volumes, then went to seasons. They also have had some crazy different packaging. Who knows what they will do?
I'd rather get the episodes we don't have over the ones we already have on DVD even if it means having to switch discs while watching S10, sadly I don't see it happening. And yeah Lionsgate never cared much for the quality, we got how many volumes with 13/12 episodes on them.

You're the one who started this thread, and you need to respect other peoples' opinions and ideas even if you don't agree with them. I'm sorry you don't like the idea of having half of season 10 on a seperate DVD, but to me the idea of re-releasing the same 4 episodes that are already on the season 1 DVD is a waste of disc space, which I'd rather see used for some special features, like an interview with Peter Renaday or some never before seen artwork.

My mind is absolutely boggled by the suggestions of not releasing all of the final season at once. How is there not enough disk space for extras even if they do the whole season? There was room for bonus features on the Season 7 disks that all contained 6 to 7 episodes. This season is 8. We used to get disks with 13 episodes per disk. It shouldn't be even the slightest problem to fit all 8 episodes on one disk and special features if they cared to. Not released the entire season is retarded and they'd be really retarded to only do 4 episodes. No one would buy that.
Sure they can produce one, but I assure you, not a one of us fans is that die-hard as to re-buy all the stuff over again for "eleventy million dollars!"
I'd buy a boxset in a heart beat special features or not. I'd personally prefer a condensed box set to an entire rack on my DVD self being taken up by OT disks. Not that they would but if they put time into it they could do some cool artwork for it as well. Though they have been getting better about the art to a degree. It could come in a coffee table comic book form, a cube, or even a box with disks inside either cases or little books with episode names and maybe descriptions. These are all sets I've seen or own. I've noticed even if initial releases are half ass'd they usually do nice stuff like this with sets.

Special packaging like that usually scratches the hell out of the discs.
If given only two options for the final set: between a complete season 10 set or a set with the 4 unreleased season 10 and the 3 missing episodes, I'm going to choose the latter because it will complete the series on DVD. I'd rather keep the bit rates down, so the quality is better, so that is my most preferred release, but if they released all the eight season 10 episodes with the three missing episodes, I'd be fine with that. What I don't want is only the eight season 10 episodes on it, because it likely means we'd never get the other three episodes ever on DVD.
The casual turtles fan isn't going to care about Lord Dregg, so the more episodes with Shredder on it, the better it will sell.

The casual turtles fan isn't going to care about Lord Dregg, so the more episodes with Shredder on it, the better it will sell.
How the hell is a casual TMNT fan going to know what episodes Shredder is in or he isn't? Are you kidding me?
"Casual fans" have no clue what went on in the show till they watch the DVD. These are people who haven't watched the show since their childhood, and likely don't know or remember any of the episodes, nor do they go online to see summaries.
Saying, "Oh this DVD will sell less because there's less Shredder episodes," as if any casual fan has any clue what happened to Shredder by the end of the show? Mention "Lord Dregg" to any casual fan and they'll have no clue who you're talking about.
Please.
People generally look at the back cover before buying a DVD at a store for something they aren't 100% sold on at sight. There is a summary paragraph on the back cover where they could easily throw in a sentence about three lost episodes featuring more classic battles with Shredder. Plus, anyone buying online from a place like Amazon might check their reviews to see content.

Generally people watch Turtle cartoons, for the Turtles.
The Turtles never fought Shredder in every single episode, and if someone doesn't realize that, it's their problem.
And what is the back cover supposed to say? Shredder is in 5 out of the 10 episodes on this disc? Really? None of the TMNT DVDs ever gave a breakdown of how often Shredder is in them.
I just watched the Season 6 DVD set recently and was surprised that Shredder/Krang were only in like 7 out of the 16 episodes of that season...LOL.
The only reason we shouldn't want more than the 8 S10 eps on a single disc or just the four not already on DVD plus Turtleoids: The Movie & Once Upon A Time Machine is so they don't compress the life outta them. Remember how many comments there were about the earlier eps looking crappy? Compare that to the S9 DVD. While part of the reason is technological advances in cartoon production and preservation, additional compression is still a big culprit.
Long story short, any more than four hours per dual-layer disc = handicap.

I wish I could think of another reason for wanting to see just the unreleased half of season 10 and those other 3 skipped episodes on the final DVD, but I've already made my argument. As for the description on the back cover I'm sure Lionsgate can come up with something clever. I'll say one thing about that company, they know how to market their DVDs!

To be fair the art from Season 5 onward on the cases is pretty good. And we did at least get interviews 0

The only thing that still kinda bugs me is for the season 5 boxset they could've interviewed Barry and Cam about playing Bebop and Rocksteady, but instead they interviewed Townsend about Usagi and Rat King.

I loved the artwork for the first season DVD because it looked like the old TMNT VHS tapes, but the ones after had crappy artwork, with Turtles that didn't even look like they were suppose to be from the 87 cartoon.
Some episodes you can see the tape tracking mess up.

Cyber goes overboard sometimes but how's he being a spoiled brat? Most show's get one giant release including the whole series (with every episode mind you), and that's that. TMNT never got that.
Never mind that the ENTIRE FU**ING DCAU (excluding Static Shock) was released in half the time it's taking this one TMNT show to finish it's release run.

It just annoys me how he keeps bringing up that he wants these episodes released all together when half of them are ALREADY on DVD! It's like watching a little kid screaming in a toy store over a varient version of the same Power Ranger action figure he got for his birthday because the new one has a removable helmet or something.

First of all, the post you quoted said nothing about that.
Secondly, your point is bull ****. Show's are released seasons at a time, bottom line. You'd almost have a point if the first four episodes of season 10, but no... we got episodes 1, 2, 6 and 7.
That means if someone wanted to watch season 10 they'd have to switch discs 3 times as opposed to... zero.
So if Cybercubed is a little kid throwing a tantrum, then you're just the annoying older sibling who keeps reminding mommy that you're being such a good boy.

Do I really come off a momma's boy? I've been trying so hard to avoid that stereotype. In all honesty though the only reason I'm accusing CyberCubed of acting like a brat is because of the way he reacted to my suggestion, which I feel is more practical.
If they only put the Turtleoid Special, "Once Upong a Time Machine" and the unreleased half of season 10 on a DVD, there'd be plenty of room for extras. Also I don't understand what the big deal is about removing a disc from your player to put another one in. I do it all the time when I'm having a TMNT or Simpsons marathon, and my player hasn't worn out yet!
If you don't like my idea, that's fine, but don't go bashing it like it's the worst idea ever! There are people who agree with me on this, and I'll be happy to let them back me up.

The people working at Lionsgate now probably don't even remember there were Season 10 eps on the first season DVD.
As said that DVD came out in 2004, countless people may have left the company and new people cam in since then. That was 7 years ago.
To be honest, I can't imagine anyone seriously considering CyberCubed as anything other than a brat. ;)

It's not the player to worry about. For me, I absolutely loathe double-sided discs because they're nearly impossible to get to the player w/o getting fingerprints all over the data portion or dropping several times, likely scratching it up. Single-sideds are a bit easier to deal with, but if I don't pay close attention to what I'm doing, I'll have to pick it up off the floor and wipe it down. So, fewer swaps, to me, means fewer opportunities to scar up the discs.

Okay, first of all you're make it sound like a grocery store that hires high school kids who quit after they go off to college. I'm pretty sure Lionsgate's clientel hasn't changed that drastically over the years, unless the economy caused them to lay some people off.
Secondly, I'm pretty sure even if the original staff was replaced by new people, they'd be well aware of the existance of the the first season DVD and its contents. I'm pretty sure the company has kept some copies of their releases around for marketing research and whatnot. It's not like they're going to pretend it was never made!

And is that DVD easy to come by?

Once Upon a Time Machine
Planet of the Turtleoids

As much as you want those special features and while some additional interviews would be nice, I've already added all of these BONUS special features on my custom DVDs:
-Every Playmates toy commercial on Youtube
-Other TMNT-type commercials, including:
*2 Coming out of Their Shells commercials
*2 Burger King TMNT commercials
*Toys 'R' Us commercial with brief mention of TMNT
*TMNT II: The Arcade Game NES commercial
*A local auto dealer commercial that spoofs the Turtles from the early '90s
*TMNT Cereal commercial
-Several Family Home Entertainment video promos
-Several syndication promos
-A 1990 news report about Eastman and Laird's desire to create TMNT at Mirage
-Voice actor interviews not found on DVDs:
*2 James Avery interviews: 1 audio from Ninja Turtles network, and one video that I recently posted
*Cam Clarke audio interview
*2 Townsend Coleman audio interviews from Youtube
*Barry Gordon video interview
*2 Rob Paulsen interviews: 1 audio and one video
*Renae Jacobs audio interview from late Ninja Turtles Network
-TMNT Voice actor recording promo from the mid-2000s as shown on Youtube
-15-minute David Wise video interview from Youtube
-All Turtle Tips segments from Youtube
-Fido Dido commercial bumpers from CBS' Seasons 4-6
-The Personal Greeting video shot by Ryan in 2009 showing the VA's in person
It just shows you how much more exciting my DVDs have come if you simply rip the originals (don't forget putting the copyrights on them), and then by inserting these features throughout my sets. It just reveals so much more as well as add nostalgia by showing the original promos/ads. And Season 10 will be the last chance to do more behind the show; otherwise let's hope Ryan & co. gets that Turtledoc finished.
