Hi all,

I was browsing the IGN website and found this review they did for the Season 9 Boxset of the classic cartoon that is finally released:

http://uk.dvd.ign.com/articles/118/1188220p1.html

And they are right, its a bit of a disappointing release. No Extra's at all.
I already ordered it of course, I'm a fan and a completist :D.

And thats why they half-ass this kind of stuff...they know people gonna buy it regardless, so why put anything else into it...just the bare minimum

LOL @ the reviewer complaining about the "campy" Seasons 7 and 8. I think this guy got his seasons a little mixed up.

What exactly did the reviewer mean by "And the new spin gave fans a whole new slew of toys to play with in-between episodes. " What new toys? I don't remember there ever being Dregg or Carter toys. Nor do I remember there being toys based on their monster mutations.

Said reviewer obviously has no idea what he was talking about.

The review said we waited 3 years for the DVD but it was actually 2 years. Season 8 was released 2 years ago.

Yeah I'd second this. They also said episodes are out of order. Aside from the 3 missing ones they followed the production order.

Dregg does restore a sense of seriousness the show was sorely lacking.

Sorry, that happened over the course of Seasons 7-8. Quite honestly, I wasn't watching TMNT by the time we hit season 9 and was all into Power Rangers/VR Troopers and transitioning into more pre-teen friendly shows. What hurt was my city's CBS affiliate switched to morning news in 1994 for four hours at the time, therefore the show aired at like 5 AM or something. I've heard other CBS affiliates moved or dropped the show around this time, and it clearly was showing the backlash at the time. 1995 was a terrible year for TMNT; the Christmas special was the ultimate lump of coal; there were no more videogames, and the future seemed bleak, and even to this day, I find season 9 the weakest. The only season without Shredder; trying to mock Power Rangers with the "morphing", and less comedic action showed it was definately the bad egg; Carter is sort of like a Cousin Oliver for the OT in a way as well; why not promote Casey Jones and build a relationship with April now that she wasn't a full-time reporter (of course 2K3 fixed this). Let's hope that fan documentary soon makes up for the lack of extras.

No, no, no... Carter wasn't Cousin Oliver. Jet McCabe was...

*sits back and waits for people to get the "joke"*

hasn't IGN complained about every OT DVD?

who cares, no one takes IGN seriously anyways.

The old toon was the most silly in Season 4 and 5, but even that is exaggerated.

Season 6 brought it back to a nice balance, and then Season 7 onward had plenty of action.

I wonder if well ever get a complete series released as one set like the how Ghostbusters and other 80's properties were handled.
