OK... Just putting this out there, but I'm one of those people who like to aquire spare "buddy" or sidekick figure's from figures that have them and then paint them up so that they arent boring pieces of plastic.

I'm in the process of considering doing a jailbird figure from Scratch... but there is no way I'm destroying an original... i couldn't afford it anyway.

However the idea came to me of producing a resin casting of the figure.. not as expensive... but cheaper if I were to make multiple copies.

So just putting it out there to see if anyone would also be intersted in a jailbird figure tro paint up if I were to make 10 or so?

And these will NOT be cast in yellow. The last thing I want to do is have fake Jailbird's out there screwing people over on ebay.

This is just an idea and I'm seeing if many others would be interested to make this project worthwhile...

And these may end up being as much as $10 each if i were only to make a small handful.... just a forewarning. I don't have much experince in casting and costs would be based on what it'd cost to produce so I'm hoping if i did 10 i'd make it cheaper. Also resin isn't as durable as plastic... these will just be for display.

And before people get their hopes up this is just an idea... it may not eventuate or things could go horribly wrong my end attempting this... I'm more or less looking at motivation into getting this going. From inspection I'll need a two part mold, it's not overly difficult for most peiople... but it is somthing i've only tried once years ago and it ended horribly, but after some research into doing it the right way I'm now confident to give it another crack.

honestly, it would all depend on how the paint app looks. then again i don't have a scratch either....still it depends on the paint app

Paint apps would be up to whoever paints them... i was considering this as a service to other customisers on board here who may be interested for their own purpouses...

I've just decided I'm going to go ahead and buy the materials anyway... have a few other things i want casts of but i need to brush up on my skills... this will be a good test subject :)

haven't done anything like this since high school. Lol

lol, good luck. and have fun. Its something i definitely wouldn't be interested in, as my paint skills are horrible. if you cast it well, you should put up tutorial. I have been thinking about doing some casting myself, just don't really know where to start.

I think it would be beneficial to know what the finished product would look like, and provide a price as to what you would want for your effort of making it. If it were reasonable, I would be interested.

I think someone should sculpt/tool a 4.5" Jailbird from scratch, not from Scratch (yes, I went there) and I don't know why articulation wouldn't be a possibility.

You do realize that the unauthorized reproduction, and sale, of copyrighted toys is illegal? Not only could you get yourself in legal trouble, but also Krang/Shredder for using their web site to solicit sales.

But it's not for profit and made to order... but fair enough if it's such a big deal I'll forget about it. Plenty of fans do it for other fans on Transformer sites to help for a custom project or two. Just felt people here may ahve liked the oppurtunity.

There are plenty of sites selling casted parts for customs, but like Patraw said, you could end up in legal troubles for it. I personally would love to have all those mini sidekicks from old line to paint them.
