When do you think you will start to have nostalgia for this series?

Like any franchise, once something gets really old people begin to have nostalgia for it. The original cartoon, first 3 movies, the old Mirage and Archie comics all have the nostalgia feeling to them.

The 2k3 series debuted in 2003, which was actually 8 years ago now.

While I have rewatched all the episodes at least twice, I still don't have the nostalgia bug for it quite yet. I think once the Nick series starts is when the nostalgia for this series will kick in for most people.

It'll be awhile before it hits me. If the new series blows though I'll be shutting myself off from TMNT all together most likely. It's starting to become one of those things that's never as good as it used to be or could be.

I have to say i feel somewhat similar. The series as a whole does not really bring back a whole lot of nostalgia, but i can remember watching at least the first season on tv when it aired, and "rediscovering" those episodes earlier this year brought back some of those feelings. Ive always been a much bigger fan of the 87 toon and the mirage and image comics, but i was still young enough during the first season of 2k3 to find it somewhat nostalgic now.

And i also agree with the star trek comparison. I rewatched all the 2k3 episodes and really enjoyed a lot of them (mostly because of their comic book story arcs). but of course it will never meet excellence of the original toon in my eyes. :trazz:

The Shredder Wars worked best as an alternate universe kind of thing. Bringing Demon Shredder back to life, along with Ch'rell and Cyber Shredder who all essentially died would be pretty lame.

I liked how each Shredder was essentially killed off too.

I watched most of it a few years ago in more or less marathon fashion. I'm already getting semi-nostalgic for it, in that I keep getting the urge to go watch the rest of it, or start over and watch it all through. I really liked the show.

Not really for me as I was in college and starting a job when the 2K3 series started, feeling that I was "too old" to concentrate on TMNT (though would very ocassionally, like once a year watch an OT TMNT or a movie), so it will always be an "alternate universe", even though it's a good alternate considering it came from the comics that began before the Fred Wolf show. But having hand-drawn as opposed to CGI will be a piece of nostalgia when Nick kicks in, but I'm sure when that series starts, the style of the Nick show as proposed will likely send more fans nostalgic for the FW show, especially if its a hit. But I'm sure the nostalgia will be greatest among those born between around 1991 to 2000 or so; too late to catch the OT in its prime, but born soon enough to catch at least part of the show in any form, as well as being no further than high school when the series ended.

Sadly, due to work and the general chaos of my life, I've only seen most, not all, of the episodes and was completely out of it by the time they did the Fast Forward stuff, I've never seen that or anything after it. Which pisses me off, because that makes the less-than-perfect and incomplete DVDs my lifeline to the show.

Still, one of these weekends we're gonna watch all the DVDs I have in a marathon run like we did back when Season 3 had just come out. Since I've only seen most of the episodes once, and rarely more than 3 times, I'm still discovering things about it and am not as "burnt out" on it as others seem to be. It's up there with Masters of the Universe and Justice League as my picks for best cartoon of the 2000-2010 decade.

I guess I kinda gave nostalgia for it nowadays. I mean, i can obviously watch it any time still, but I kinda miss being 12-13 at the time this show came out and how exciting it was to look forward to a new episode and to new action figures of it. Probably the last cartoon that gave me that sort of feeling. Plus, it accompanied me through my teenage years. I was 18-19 when it was over. So it was interesting for the show to grow alongside me.

Same here. I will never have any nostalgia for it. I have the same love for it and complaints when it aired and it likely will remain that way. It will never come close to my love of the 1987 cartoon, but I do like it better than the current cartoon. I still watch at least an episode every quarter. It gave me three arcs I have vested interest in and Agent Bishop, a favorite character of mine within the franchise.

Hard to believe we're going through another TMNT generation as we speak. We've only waited about 2-3 years between the end of the 4Kids series and the beginning of the Nickelodeon one.

It kick started at a time that I wasn't paying any attention to tv, so I totally missed it. Then during its second year, I'd moved over here.
Of course, that meant when I saw the toys in the local Carrefour store, I thought they were Chinese knock offs as they looked nothing like 'real' Turtles.. :-)
Then it wasn't till I found that season 7 DVD set that I even knew about it. So from my perspective it's a fairly new show.
That said, it's 12 years since it showed up, and a 5 year old kid then, would be 17 now. Give these, then 5 year olds another 5 years and there will be a resurgence in interest. So I'd say 2021 will be a big nostalgia year for 2K3 Turtles.

I think its already becoming nostalgic for me. I recently went back and watched some of the first season and was surprised at how excellent the series looks. It holds up really well so far.

Once the generation that grew up with the 2003 turtles hits their 30's we will see some TLC for the series. Money always guides these things for the studios. It wont happen if there isn't money to be made.

I still get nostalgia for the show. I watched it as a kid, and then stopped in the middle of Fast Forward. I only watched one more episode called "Web Wranglers", and nearly forgot about the show.

Then one day, I was going through my video game library for a game to play, and found TMNT 2: Battle Nexus. After playing it, my nostalgia came and made me go on YouTube and binge watch on the entire series. And just in time for the 2012 cartoon to come out, I believe.

Basically, I think my nostalgia came because it was one of the series I loved as a child (along with Kirby: Right Back At Ya and Sonic X). Rewatching the series was like revisiting my childhood.

I think that's true for everything we get nostalgic for.

As for me, I get nostalgic in general for TMNT. Even if I'm watching the Nick toon I'm somewhat nostalgic, because the Turtles were a (very important) part of my childhood. And that's intriguing: a big part of the franchise is new for me (Mirage, 4Kids, IDW, Nick), so I'm both curious and nostalgic at the same time - and thats a very ambivalent, but delightful feeling: exploring something completely new, and being remembered on my own childhood memories.

IDK, I finished bingeing (that doesn't look right, but auto-correct is well, saying that's the correct spelling) it last year, a good two months or so before I joined here. Man, stuff has changed over the last year. Like, I'd bundle up with my sis and we'd always watch the Good genes arc on my tablet. No other show encompassed all of that time period in my life like this one. So to me it's forever gonna be the cartoon series of my teenage years.

You really need to flip flop that. I grew up with the original cartoon as well, so I agree that it is nice to periodically rewatch. But the 4Kids series is the one that you should be rewatching more. I Just finished my 4Kids rewatch. I'm thinking about maybe doing an original cartoon rewatch. But I'm thinking that I'll more likely watch another one of the more modern cartoons, like maybe the 2011 Thundercats. I don't think I've rewatched that one yet.

I’m rewatching the show in full at the moment for the first time and currently near the end of season 4. Hadn’t watched it much since it went off air until recently (only watched a few eps here and there before that). I didn’t realize how good this cartoon was, as I missed some episodes back in the day.

Could never watch both cartoons (or any show for that matter) that amount of times, though I did watch the OT a lot over and over again on tv when I was younger. I’d prefer to watch something new instead such as Batman: TAS which I remember little about. I only try to rewatch a show every 4 years or so.

If you need help with your Italian, I'm Italian myself, and I also have all the episodes of the serie (except the 5th Season, Fast Forward and Back to The Sewer, as they never got dubbed in Italian).

My situation will probably be most unique in this thread, but when the show was on the air I had just graduated high school (in 2004) and had long been out of turtle fandom/superhero fandom/comics fandom, only to rediscover superhero comics, movies and TMNT in college. So, I remember seeing a couple episodes back when and remember thinking: this looks so much better and more serious than the show that aired when I was a kid.

In about 2007, after re-watching the 1990 movie for the first time since childhood, I was hooked back into turtle fandom. Started watching current episodes/reruns of this show regularly (I only like the first 5 seasons plus the Forever movie) and went back to the Savage Dragon crossover and the 1990 movie comic adaptation and started FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, reading MIRAGE and falling in love with the property. By 2011 when the IDW book started, my TMNT romance had fully flowered and in 2014 I joined this forum.

All in all, I guess THIS SHOW rekindled the childhood flame that became my current TMNT love.

Now, am I nostalgic for it? YES! YES! YES! Only if by nostalgia you mean do I want EVERYTHING TMNT related to be a close mirror of this show. I love this show. It's the 3rd best TMNT thing ever, if you ask me, behind the 1990 movie and IDW comics.

I downloaded all the episodes (STILL STREAMING ON YOUTUBE) to a hard drive years ago and watch it on my Smart TV.

It's the closest TMNT has ever gotten to a show I would like. There's some dumb humor, and some bad episodes, but overall, I loved it. Haven't watched it in years... should probably give it another watch sometime.

Seasons 1-4, didn't like the Ninja Tribunal stuff with all the magic and dragons. Too condensed... maybe if it had been more spread out.

The FF/BTTS sewers stuff was interesting, but falls flat. The lightening of the tone played a part in the show's downfall imo
