Here me out, guys!

I don't want to sound like a fanboy here, but Grant Morrison has done some great work in the comic industry. Haven't heard of him? I recommend his run on Doom Patrol as well as his run on Batman and Robin. I feel that Morrison's ability to blend the exciting, touching, and just outright strange would be a great fit for some tmnt stories.

What are the chances of IDW offering the chance to Morisson, as well as the chances of him accepting? I'm sure they are slim to none, but I'm still curious to see if anyone has a more enlightened opinion.

More importantly, how would you feel if this did happen?

Why don't you ask IDW & the man himself? Email is a wild wild thing.

Well Grant Morrison is currently writing Action Comics #1 and is slated to write 16 issues for that, if all goes well he will probably write more. Not saying a writer cant write two comics at once, but if he did do some TMNT it would probably be after his Action Comics run. I would rather have Neil Gaiman do a TMNT run, that would be epic.

Like I said, I'm also really interested in seeing how the rest of the fan's feel about this. Maybe if the feedback is strong, I will shoot an email.

I agree. Neil Gaiman doing a tmnt issue would be spectacular.

Morrison might be the perfect person to write a turtles book. He'd probably treat it seriously, while realizing the ridiculousness of it.

I've never read his work so there's no demand on my part. I'd like to see Murphy return. His issues of tales rank really high on my chart.

Yes to this as well. I loved Murph's Tales issues.

Considering the stress caused by the minor changes in the new IDW series, I'm afraid to think about what would happen if Grant, the man who made all those radical changes in Batman and X-Men, came on board! Not that I personally have problems with those changes he made (okay, maybe some...). I do think he is a talented writer though. Neil Gaiman can pretty much do no wrong, but I wonder if he might be a little too wordy for the action-oriented turtles. Maybe Mark Millar or Jason Aaron would be better fits.

Neil Gaiman is probably my favorite writer ever, I have read every one of his works, but I do see your point about possibly being too wordy for TMNT. On the other hand, the original volume of TMNT was a lot wordier than some of the later volumes, so Gaiman could be the man to bring TMNT back to its roots. But that is in a fantasy world lol. What we have now is IDW, Eastman, Waltz, and Duncan weaving what looks to be an amazing reboot of the franchise, and I am putting my faith in their hands.

Agreed. Sandman is my favorite comic series ever, but I also recognize that what works for one title may not work for another. The original series was a bit wordier, but it didn't necessarily make it better (plus there's always the fine line between wordier and more literary). It gave it this kind of old school 80's charm which may not work as well today. I mean, do we really want to go back to the turtles and villains essentially narrating everything out loud when they walk around by themselves?

I'm also with you that Eastman, Waltz, and Duncan are doing a great job so far with great pacing and balance and I just want to see where this new direction takes us for now. Some say the pacing is too slow, but I think it's near perfect; it's just that we can't have more pages in an issue that's the problem! When we have the whole story collected in one trade, people will change their minds. If you think about what is happening in each plot thread, it's moving along nicely. Even if some may be complaining about an issue being too short, it's better than an issue being too long, right? Always keep 'em wanting more is the trick. Joss Whedon always knew had to mess with us in that regard!

Zero chance. His contract is DC exclusive.

But I'd be 1000% for it... Grant Morrison is awesome.

Man, if ever there were a story of leave us wanting more from a man like Joss Whedon, but Firefly's cancellation wasn't his fault lol, I hate you Fox.

I had no idea! That's hilarious! I love that Neil Gaiman can write both fantasy melodrama and comedy so seamlessly. Obviously if he DID do TMNT, hopefully it would be more serious. And my minor concern about his "wordiness" was hardly a concern at all. I mean, let's face it, he's the best!

Now that I think about it, let's just have Joss Whedon write TMNT! If anyone has doubts of his ability to handle epic sci-fi action, great characters, and ugly-laugh inducing situations, just read Astonishing X-Men. Especially when Wolverine tells you "he's the best at what he does"!

My favorite X-men series by far, Ive tried to read countless X-mens and nothing comes close to the Whedon Astonishing X-men.

To take nothing away from the current team, I think Grant Morrison would do some amazing stuff on TMNT. Did anyone read We3 from back in 2005? It was a mini he did for Vertigo about a dog, cat, and rabbit with robot armor and the ability to speak to one another. He's already nailed animals with human traits, so I'm sure he'd be great with the Turtles.

Grant Morrison is a fantastic writer, I have really enjoyed his Batman run from RIP to Incorporated. Grant really has a way with weaving the strange with realism, and incorporating the smallest details into his stories that if your not paying attention you could out right miss them.

So do I think he would be great for the TMNT? You betcha!

It's OK, though. I recently read some truly horrible Neal Adams Mr. T comics from the 90s.

We3 is a great comic.I wish it was longer tho. Abut 6 issues instead of 3. Also Grant Morrison + Frank Quitely is an excellent team. They know each other so well ofter some other projects.
