There is the link to the story and it looks like we will at least be getting two issues of the new TMNT from Tristian! Should be fun, I enjoyed their last cross over so hope this one is as much fun.

I was hoping Tristan to write in a mini series of his own if not for the main series, not for an event related title. I am not a big fan of events.
Still will be getting Infestation main issues and TMNT related issues ofc.

Just so you know, I started writing this before I knew what the core event was. You won't HAVE to read the Infestation books if you only want the Turtles one, but there are some amazing writers attached there, so they could be great!

Well at least the main topic of Infestation 2 is something i would like.
All those Lovecraftian stuff.
As i said i will be buying the main Infestation books and I guess i will be buying Ghostbusters-related books too.
It will be great to read your work again Tristan, btw.

Not huge on the idea of the story, but Tristan's great so I'm sure that will make up for anything I'm not hip to.

I'm trying to channel as much Hellboy and BPRD as possible with a twist of Alien. What I've written is pretty standalone, but the people who've stuck with me will see some things here and there that others won't ;)

As the script stands right now, the known character I have written the least of in the past makes an appearance, as does a new version of someone I created.

It'll actually stand on its own pretty well I think. Tom and Bobby are two of the best dudes anyone could ask to work with and for and have shared a little bit of what is coming up with me, and it's safe to say that this story is going to be something more along the lines of a two part "Tales of the TMNT" story. It fits in, just not quite where it's scheduled to come out, so people who haven't read the ongoing so far can certainly read this without feeling lost. I've also been given a pretty tremendous amount of freedom in terms of creativity, but Bobby's been great at keeping me in check when things go a little wonky.
Mark is an amazingly nice dude, too, and his samples for this story are nothing short of incredible. If you dig Hellboy, you're going to like this.
ToTheNines: This character was involved in a dialogue. And their appearance in this story is about as big as it was in that one, but it's a very different moral standing for them.

I think I've voiced this before: I like Lovecraft and Lovecraft references/influences, but when it gets heavy-handed like it's beating you over the head with the references to make sure everyone understands, that it becomes a total turnoff. Yes, this has actually happened in Turtles before and it left a foul taste.
I have trust in Tristan, though (Trustin Tristan?). Always do.

I hate this sort of thing too. I deliberately don't reference anything. I've picked things I like, and Lovecraft purist may hate certain aspects of it, but it's a Turtles story first and foremost. Actually, no, it's a horror story first, then a Turtles story, with Lovecraftian overtones. Strong ones.

The group drawing with the red bandanas seems like a promotional drawing or such.
But at page with the other IDW-verse characters fighting the threat, Turtles have colored bandanas. I dunno if this is a promotional page or an actual page from Infestation 2 main book.

Toby -- It's just because it's hard to get an idea of how people are saying things online. It's the same with everyone's posts, but the timing and way some things get written can read as being abrasive without ever actually being so. The response to CyberCubed did read a little bit that way and, from one point of view, reads as though you're taking a shot at IDW perhaps a little more snidely than it was intended (if it was a shot at them at all), but that comes largely down to what Ninjinister said and a little of what I just mentioned then. See, everything I've read of IDW's catalog since they started has been pretty consistent, editorially speaking. I never really read Transformers beyond the first few arcs, so I can't comment on their longest running continuity, but everything else has been fine. You can argue back and forth over artistic choices, but I always put that down to artistic interpretation. Continuity wise, things've always been consistent with the IDW stuff I read -- and I've read A LOT (not everything, but a LOT) -- so hearing that there's a "tremendous list of inconsistencies" didn't quite sit right with me, especially when there are plenty of other examples out there. Just look at the new DCU... ;)
You don't need to "just shut it" at all, either! Just be more open with it! :) The less you explain your position on something, the more it's likely to be misread unfortunately. And I don't mean to single you out here, because it happens all over the internet!
Regardless, I just handed in the second draft of the first issue. Bobby dug it, I think Mark dug it, and now we just gotta wait and see if Nick digs it too. I dropped a cameo in there that I really hope flies (there's a pun in there, so think on that one for a bit). I also pulled back the characters I mentioned before to give it a little more focus and progress things a little faster. I'm hoping most of it flies. We'll see. I gotta go back and check out how far Nick's pushed things in the past...!
I saw this on facebook and flipped. So glad to have you back on board, man. How's this artist you're working with?

Let's see, a pun on "flies." Could be:
a) Meaning an insect fly....otherwise mutated fly Baxter. Although since we've only JUST met Baxter in this series, I don't think they would mutate him this early in the series.
b) Other flying characters, like Wingnut, perhaps?
c) Flies as in a spaceship? If that's the case, any character or alien could fly by in a ship.
Interesting...

Again colored bandanas. I really wonder if they will have some final touch before going into print.
Sam Kieth's issue 1 cover was an out of series colored bandanas cover, so maybe a superb example of a variant cover, with different taste and take, but this Turtles Interconnected cover seems like a main cover and i do not want colored bandanas to be honest at a main cover.
They have bandages at their elbows, knees and wrists, as in the IDW main series ( which i really like ) but colored bandanas...weird.

I thought we were actually going to have a series that stayed true to its roots rather than compromise to attract the attention of TMNT "fans" who haven't given a sh*t in ages anyway that will buy one issue to feel old-school, complain about the lack of cowabunga and then forget the series again. I understand that it is implied that they will alternate between the two bandana styles, but still, for me it the decision to go red was to make a very important distinction between adult TMNT and kid TMNT. Those lines are slowly getting blurred, though, and it ticks me off. It's not to say the book won't continue to be of quality but that definitely takes some points off from my view of it.

I don't think Tristan's ability to write the TMNT is really relevant to the matter. Yes, he can write some kick-ass TMNT, even within some pre-set parameters.

From the sound of things it's seeming pretty sure that we're looking at Phase II of the IDW TMNT: the Turtles put on the rainbow bandannas at some point down the line after they reunite with Raphael... and it won't just be a one-off thing for Infestation 2.

I'm now seriously contemplating recoloring the issues IDW has already released, just to prove a point. Do the multicolored bandanas really affect the story? I like the colored bandanas for other series'. But I feel that the "darker" comics belong in red. Pretty sure I made that clear several times.
If the tone is light, go with colors. If it's a little more action oriented and gritty, go solid red.

It does seem odd that this horror crossover is the time they decide colored bandanas. :P
I know that no one has said that Tristan's story will suffer because of the multicolored bandanas, but a rather large deal is being made about it. Heck, maybe it's a temporary thing because the other members of the IDW universe fighting the "infestation" can't tell the turtles apart...I dunna...

It does seem odd that this horror crossover is the time they decide colored bandanas. :P
We haven't read the next couple of issues of the core series yet... the "Hey guys, now that Raph is back, wouldn't it be great if we all wore color-coded bandannas now?" scene may yet be coming just in time for Infestation 2.
Good job not reading any of my other posts. I did read your other posts.

If this happens, its possible enough backlash from fans would get them to revert back to red bandanas. Remember Kevin is still on board.
We're speaking too soon anyway. Let's see how this plays out.

I have not read Infestation 1, sooo is it a crossover event or just "the same horrible thing happens in all comics we make"
if it is a crossover, I wouldn't mind the turtles using colored masks so the other mooks can tell them apart, making the colors they choose a "homage" to the toon. And later at the end of the event the turtles ditches the colors thinking "that was silly" or something like that

I do not think they would do such a silly ( sorry have to say that ) thing to change the color bandanas without any reason after they find Raph.
Even any logical reason ( if there is any ) is not inside my acceptance limit but if they will do it that way, i am really wondering how they shall do it.
I am reading the book now. And enjoying it. I am 100% sure that i do not like the new origin one bit. Maybe i am forcing myself to enjoy the book cause that there is a new TMNT on racks. And cause that the origin and some other things are different, you do not know what shall happen and this increases the enjoyment.
For me, so far the book was not bad, but it is not anywhere near to showing the fans what real TMNT is/was.
I am still believing that, this colored bandana stuff was born in the first place cause of lack of coordination between the teams at IDW ( which pains me ).
We all know Tristan's writing will be very good but i am one of the guys who really really hate colored bandanas. The point is. I do not hate the old toon,( ok sometimes i hate, but not that much ), i do not hate the 2000s toon.
I do not like what they do. Trying to merge two different things.
After all colored bandanas are not just visual stuff. They are symbols of the old toon. It is not important how mature the story is written. For me that color bandana stuff is as important as a comic being black & white or colored.
I am sure that there are lots of guys who are not thinking the same way, but that's me.
If that colored bandana thing will be only in Infestatation books i can live with that. But if spreads to main series , i am pretty sure that, this will change my look upon the book in a pretty large way. Negatively.
And people always complain about "event books" or such stuff twhich are made to increase the sales at Marvel & DC are generally ruining the quality of that book...
I am not saying this colored bandana thing shall decrease the quality of the book storywise or artwise but it is a bit of ironic that again an event book will be responsible of that color change, even at a smaller company.

Myself, I couldn't care less about the turtles' origins, or the color of their bandanas. Origin stories bore me, and red or rainbow, they're still turtles who are ninja to me. That's all insignificant.
I'm a really bad stickler about consistancy, whether or not they're going to stick with one thing or the other, and lately I've been working very hard on letting that go the best I can. This is just a comic book after all.
There's no reason we should be getting as upset about this as we are.

An origin is part of who a character is and so is their look. If Batman's parents were kidnapped by aliens instead of shot dead in an alley I think his purpose, life views, and choices would be a lot different. Also if he had a hot pink mask and cape instead of black I think that might play against him more then anything.
Those things do matter. In the interest of making things "new" and "edgey" people think they need to change **** that was perfectly fine before. Look at the new Moon Knight book for example. The writer just threw the established character and setting out the window and completely revamped his personality despite it taking place in the same continuity. Now he acts like Spider-man making constant wise cracks. They abandoned the split personality thing and his constant inner struggle with his urge to kill in favor of having Captain America, Wolverine, and Spider-man manifest as personalities instead. This not only makes no sense, goes completely against the established psychology, but it's clearly a half-assed way to draw sales to the book by having top tier characters in every issue.
Did these changes need to be made? No. The way he was before during the '06 run was perfect and the books sales were fine. Everytime since then when they've tried to revamp Moon Knight they've failed. Vengeance of the Moon Knight was another example of a chuckle head writer handling the character poorly except he made Moon Knight's costume and personality similar to Batman.
I've read a lot of turtles books, dare I say virtually all of them, and for the most part the turtles always feel like the turtles. Unless the book was a crossover being written by another writer or a parody. This new book hasn't felt like the turtles at all to me and slapping different colored masks on them isn't going to help with that. When I think of the comic turtles I think of red. That's just who they are. When I think of colored bandannas I think of silliness and despite the 2K3 series being a little more serious it never brushed the level the comics had.

Yeah, but there must be a reason for them to change them (e.g. Batman can't wear a yellow cape for one issue without an explanation)...
I was just afraid that they could wear them for the crossover and would suddenly go back to red in the main series without even talking about it.
But well, I read some of the earlier posts and found the link to the IDW forum. Now I know that there will be an explanation (even though most of us probably won't like it)...

Rather than getting unnecessarily wound up or jumping to ridiculous conclusions over the whole thing why not just wait and see how it plays out. People are getting rabidly possessive over this whole issue and are going to look a little silly when it all falls together. I'm pretty blase on the colour issue. It doesn't bother me. The only time I've EVER heard of ninja clans having any sort of uniform code was the Koga and Iga clans, and that was only because they were militarized. These Turtles AREN'T a clan. They're a family. The original ones could MAYBE have been considered a clan up until they killed the Shredder, beyond that there's not an ounce of evidence of them acting as a clan. Real ninjas were mercenaries, who -- generally -- killed people on someone's dollar/order or acted as spies. They dressed like civilians most of the time so as not to be caught out as what they were, so if anything, the most realistic presentation of the Turtles being ninjas has been 1) When they killed the Shredder under Splinter's orders, and 2) when they dress up like bums and hit the streets. And to be honest, they haven't done that as many times in the comics when fighting the Foot Clan as they have in the old cartoon show.
The Foot Clan -- as a uniformed clan -- works. They're a traditionalist militarized group, and have been across EVERY iteration of the Turtles since Mirage. The Turtles themselves are very far from this. The turtles, as far as I have ever been able to see, are a family unit that have grown up training and fighting a particular way, making them skilled in those arts, but far from a clan. As I said, even in the Mirage days, once the Shredder was killed, so was any notion of them being a clan. They're a family more than anything else, and in my mind, this is more prevalent in the IDW stories than in any other.
Whew! That's my two cents. Take it or leave it, but that was also my thought process when writing at Mirage and nobody ever had any problem with it. Without giving away any details of what I'm doing, there's an extremely good reason for the Turtles changing their colours, one I'm VERY happy with, and one that, in my mind at least, makes total sense in terms of story and character development (and I'm pretty sure Bobby will agree with me). I think/hope a lot of the die hard Mirage fans will be pleased with the brutality that accompanies the change, too.
At the end of the day, I think it's best you all just stop freaking out about something that hasn't happened yet and just see how it happens before you decide to get all up in arms. If you're not happy after that, that's your deal, but there's zero point in getting stabby about it all until it hits. Speculate away, just don't get so wound up about it.
Also, this is the Infestation thread, so let's try and keep it that way. If you want to debate colours vs no, maybe start another thread...?

Rather than getting unnecessarily wound up or jumping to ridiculous conclusions over the whole thing why not just wait and see how it plays out.
Because this is a message board and that's kinda what goes on when only a few clues and threads to go on are to be had. In fact, that's true of pretty much any comic book message board... the topics devoted to things like "OMG, wtf is going on, what do you guyz think is gonna happen in issue #123" probably far outweigh the topics actually devoted to actual issues that are already in the rearview.
People are getting rabidly possessive over this whole issue and are going to look a little silly when it all falls together.
"Rabidly possessive" is a very strange and derogatory way to describe advocates of the source material's bandannas.
I'm pretty blase on the colour issue. It doesn't bother me.
But then you're the guy getting paid to write comics with Turtles wearing the rainbow bandannas... and I don't recall you jumping in on any bandanna color debates before the IDW TMNT thing came about.
Just sayin'.
The only time I've EVER heard of ninja clans having any sort of uniform code was the Koga and Iga clans, and that was only because they were militarized. These Turtles AREN'T a clan. They're a family.
"Clan Hamato" has been mentioned many times. They're a clan. It's canon. You know this.
The original ones could MAYBE have been considered a clan up until they killed the Shredder, beyond that there's not an ounce of evidence of them acting as a clan.
Except for actual in-story references to them being "Clan Hamato" as recently as in issues of Tales of the TMNT V2.
Would they still actively be a Clan in, say, Volume 4? Eh, probably not. Now does that mean by default that Mikey puts on an orange bandanna and Donatello goes for the purple? No, probably not. If anything, there'd be a good case for people to ask, "Eh, why are they wearing bandannas at all at this point?"
There is little need to blend into human society on the day-to-day... when the Turtles are not a part of human society. They live in the sewers, remote farms, stuff like that, remember?
The Foot Clan -- as a uniformed clan -- works. They're a traditionalist militarized group, and have been across EVERY iteration of the Turtles since Mirage.
Yup.
The Turtles themselves are very far from this. The turtles, as far as I have ever been able to see, are a family unit that have grown up training and fighting a particular way, making them skilled in those arts, but far from a clan.
I don't think that's right at all. The source material TMNT, from the time they were able to stand upright, were trained and conditioned by Splinter for the sole purpose of killing Oroku Saki. That this goal was not made evident to them until it was time to do the killin' is beside the point -- they were raised and trained as a unit, as a clan for this unified goal.
They weren't able to slay fully trained Foot ninjas by the truckload at the tender age of 15 by spending all their time doing each others' makeup or standing in front of the mirror, wondering which color best brings out their eyes/personality -- they were huddled in the sewers away from our world, training, sweating, and busting their asses to better their Clan.
No matter what happened when the Shredder was killed, all of that lifetime, all of that upbringing and conditioning Splinter subjected them to doesn't just go away... it's still there, still a defining part of them.
As I said, even in the Mirage days, once the Shredder was killed, so was any notion of them being a clan.
Functionally, maybe, though you might have a better case for that with "City at War," which is when they actually hit the pause button, said "hold up," looked back in retrospect, and made their peace with Splinter's mission for them. "I would die for Splinter but I don't know if I can give my life to him," and all that, etc..
And by that point, we're so far into the Mirage TMNT that it would be pretty weird if they just suddenly went, "Oh hey, guys, post-ninja clan celebration time... who wants the rainbow bandannas???" Cue the kazoo, y'know?
They're a family more than anything else, and in my mind, this is more prevalent in the IDW stories than in any other.
Well of course, the IDW universe can make the Turtles however they want. In fact, unlike the in source material, the Turtles may not even be a ninja clan at all in the IDW universe... in which case, hey, rainbow bandannas may be less of a big deal.
But no less asinine.
there's an extremely good reason for the Turtles changing their colours, one I'm VERY happy with, and one that, in my mind at least, makes total sense in terms of story and character development (and I'm pretty sure Bobby will agree with me).
:waves to Bobby:
At the end of the day, I think it's best you all just stop freaking out about something that hasn't happened yet and just see how it happens before you decide to get all up in arms.
And for you as the writer with an obvious invested interest in this thread's namesake, telling your readership to "stop freaking out" before they buy your book... might not be the best policy.

As a concept, I give the TMNTA guest writers credit for at least referencing the Mirage tradition in a medium based on the Fred Wolf series. For most turtles fans like myself, that was probably only the 2nd clue we ever received that the original TMNT wore red (the first being the box art to the first NES game). In terms of execution, however, it just comes across as one of the most bizarre examples of "filler." It's like it was originally planned to be a story in one of the seasonal Specials, but just got forced into the main series to buy Steve Murphy and Chris Allan another month to prepare the "Blind Sight" arc.

As someone HATING the colored bandanas, i can never accept or be happy about them with rainbow bandanas. There might be some logical reasons and the reasons that causing them to change towards that childish look might be satisfying.
But at the end of the day the important thing is them starting to wear the colored ones and staying that way ( if it happens ).
the event thay causing them do that will be forgotten in the long run and all we have will be 4 unnecessary colors.
I would not be feeling that way if they would change their bandana colors , but not in the old toon way.
give them white, grey, turquoise or any other color unrelated, silly or comes to the mind least.
But whatever the logical reason might be to change the colors, it is bright as day that , changing them to "old toon colors" is for being able to milk the old toon and trying to attract the attention of the ppl who do not know or do not care about the main comic series of Mirage.
If the origin is different...
If the IDW-verse seems like a Ultimate Marvel universe of Mirage, or something like that ( cause it seemd that way so far to me ) ,
I do not understand why they are still putting on those old toon bandanas instead of brand new colored ones. ( other than the reason i wrote at the upper paragraph )
If the colored bandanas shall only be at Infestation, and will not be present at main series, i am ready to eat up my words btw.
Cause i still believe that this colored bandana thing was born cause of lack of cooperation between the IDW main series team and IDW Infestation team. ( i mean the main infestation book, not Tristan's )
For me it is not the colored bandanas, it is using the bandana colors of the old tv show.

The whole idea, I thought, was to make the IDW TMNT series into an Ultimate universe... of all universes TMNT. Meaning -- I thought -- taking the "good" and "best" of each universe and making like a jumbalaya out of it from which something new and fresh arises. In theory.
This is why the rainbow bandannas are so puzzling to me (or at least, it's one reason) in the IDW TMNT... if it's an Ultimates-esque universe, you guys are supposed to be cherry-picking and using the good things from the various TMNT universes, not the bad.

I believe what we discuss is morely about the "change" of bandanas. Not them being multicolored and rainbow patterned.
It may seem like we who oppose them might not be liking them colors (at least for myself and i can proudly say that i hate colored bandanas )
But as i said, this is more about that radical change itself, not the color of bandanas.
If the bandanas were colored since issue 1 at IDW main series, some ppl would not care; some ppl would be happy, and some ppl would not like this.
But at the end, everybody would be accepting it.
The thing is...making them Mirage friendly first, then embracing the old toon bandanas seems weird to me.
If that bandana change is indeed crucial or cause of a life changing thing in turtles' life, I really really am curious about what this is. ( Tho my opinion about using the old toon colors being for the purpose of getting advantage of the old toon crowd will not change as i said )
Tho i do not like them, funny bandanas are not related with the level of violence or the matrity level of the book of course.
Does not Simon Bisley draw some TMNT characters with color bandanas but in his most grotesque style?
The turtles would be ripping Old Hob's gang members' throats with their trade mark IDW teeth and they would still be wearing the rainbow bandanas.
So for me , more important than the color of bandanas, it is that change all of a sudden that seems weird at this point. And quickly embracing the good, sweet and friendly old toon colors instead of creating new ones.
I am sure that , ppl would not be arguing this much if the colors used were not the old toon colors as i said. Make them some colors never used. Build the logic around those brand new, fresh colors.
and i believe since IDW-verse is the new TMNT universe and most ppl are open to surprises at the moment, people would be more curious, not angry or sad about that color change.
At least i know that i would feel that way.

If the bandanas were colored since issue 1 at IDW main series, some ppl would not care;
Or at least care a little bit less. The way it's shaping up to happen feels an awful lot like a bait-and-switch move on the Mirage fans... and that kind of feels like a dick move.
If all the Turtles wanted to put on all black bandannas or all white ones or any other kind of unified color for their clan, great. The mood ring bandannas put too much emphasis on the "Teenage" at the expense of the "Ninja," which really ought not to be made into a sham if they can help it.
I don't know if it's true, but I'd tend to like to believe there was some kind of battle behind closed doors with IDW and Viacom/Nick.
You know...
IDW: Here's our pitch for the IDW TMNT comic book, and we're playing pretty close to their roots... all red bandannas and all.
Nick/Viacom: Yeaaaah... about that... we've got the latest toddler cartoon coming out in a year and we really need to be about brand unity right now -- rainbow bandannas for the comic, or bust!
IDW: Yikes. Well can we talk about this a little bit? We want to make the comic for a more mature audience, so maybe the all red bandannas would help get this idea across. You know, show right off the bat that we're staying true to the spirit of what Kevin Eastman and Pe --
Nick/Viacom: No can do, Eye-Dee-Dub! You better send us a pitch with the ****in' purple on Donatello or we're goin' right back to the table with Boom!
IDW: Whoa, whoa, whoa, now just hold on and wait. Maybe we can work something out... what if... OK, what if the Turtles start out wearing the red bandannas but then move onto the rainbow colored ones later on... would that work?
Nick/Viacom: Hm, I'm not happy about it but I'm listening!
Etc., etc..
If something like that went on this would all be a little bit easier of a pill to swallow. Or at least we'd know which party to project our resentment toward.

You know its quite possible that Nick wanted them to have colored bandanas.
I also think they believe it will help sales. How many casual fans picked up the first two issues, saw the Turtles had all red, and were confused?
The colored bandanas will probably drive up sales, also with kids too.

I don't think it'll make one iota of difference and I would bet the farm you won't even see the slightest sales increase in the core IDW TMNT book month over month from the "Let's put on rainbow bandannas" issue before it. Your average comic book readers aren't going to care about that, period.

Agreed. It might spike sales for one issue, but that's all. Casuals will buy one for the laughs/nostalgia/whatever and nothing more will come of it.

Yeah. It was certainly creative at adapting TV episodes in new lights. But not exactly effective at telling exciting stories, outside of issue 5 at least (which was my favorite of the series).

Andrew, I know what you mean, but there's no way I'd rather have the colored bandana's go into effect, due to Nickelodeon controlling the franchise, rather than have them because a writer believed he found a creative way to do the color's justice.
Either way, I'm all for keeping the bandana's red. The colors are silly, in a bad way.
Request to the colorist: If you do go color for the turtles, give Mikey a lighter-orange, near yellow. It look's way cooler than just orange, in my strange, deranged opinion.

I always thought Mikey looked best with a duller orange, too. Not yellowish, but definitely duller than the vibrant orange.
I really hope if they do make colors happen, if for some issues, Don has a royal purple, Leo a darkish blue, and Raphael an actual red. Don's bandana was way too bright for me in the 2k3.

i dont know...i dont think nick is behind it. honestly, i dont think they want to conect the new toon to the comic with the comic being pretty violent and all. my guess is they probably like it as is, the comic for the mature fans and the toon for the younger ones. you can catch more fish using two nets.
i read on tristin jone's blog that he is going to be the writer for infestation. i enjoy his stuff so im interested. though im still not sold on mark torres' art. its OKAY, but the heads look a little funny to me...overall their physique looks too "humanly"...needs to be more "turtley" IMO.

dont get me wrong i love the "toon" styled turtles, i just prefer the comic be the comic and keep its original format and the toon remain the toon. i enjoy the differences between the two branches.

I like the original all red look too, but does it really make that big a difference? A little minor aesthetic thing isn't going to ruin the book for me.

Though in perspective even with the Mirage material, when did they go off-world for their alien odyssey? Wasn't that like #5?
We still haven't quite gotten a solid urban/"ninja action" story yet, however, with all the focus on fleshing out the origin story piece by piece. I would hope one is delivered before things go too far into those directions (though they're directions I welcome when the time comes, as long as the pendulum swings back to the down-to-earth stuff afterward in appropriate balance).

I don't remember saying that... It definitely stands on its own legs... or tentacles (or both in some cases)... but it's not set in the future or past or anything like that. I think we've worked it in just after the second story arc (roughly). Things might become clearer as it goes along, but I've kind of removed any telltale signs of it fitting in specifically anywhere or referencing other events in the main continuity so far.

I'm only getting the TMNT Infestation issues for the hell of it.. I assume any story elements I might miss by not buying the other issues in which they might cameo might be explained somehow. But I still find it stupid to make a crossover with them so quickly when they are still basically in their first/second story arc. It's like making Superman meet Batman and help him fight Giganta on Wonder Woman's island right after Batman # 5. They weren't exactly metting Archie right off the bat ya know...

The first Infestation just had the zombie's in everyones world but the main characters never meet. It was all handled in a separate title and basically the zombies went to the other worlds to find things to "enhance" their leader. I don't know about this new Infestation but I have a feeling it will be simular.

Yeah, it's the same type of deal that Matches describes. Infestation TMNT is totally separate from everything else. If you read the other Infestation titles, you'll have a better idea why these monsters are everywhere, but if you don't care about that and are fine with the Turtles fighting monsters, then you can just dive right in.
No need for other stuff unless you want to check it out. Oh, TMNT appear in two panels of Infestation 2 #1, just glimpses into their world.

I do want to say this...
I know I'm very guilty of perpetrating this myself (however unwittingly, but the issue in question is one I do have strong opinions about), but I feel that Tristan Jones and his Infestation 2 mini have become victims, perhaps even scapegoat of the "rainbow bandanna or not" debate. It is unfortunate and no fault of Tristan's that the first revelations to this end stemmed from this material... it's just the way things shook out, be it those promo pics or the artist saying too much on DeviantArt. Whatever comes of the rainbow bandannas when the dust settles, none of these things should be held against what Tristan has been writing, which I know -- even if I hate it (disclaimer: I don't think I will hate it) -- is nothing less than a labor of love by him.
I can't say I agree with him on all things TMNT, but dude has held an amazing passion for TMNT since day one and his Tales of the TMNT V2 issues -- easily among the highlights of the whole volume -- certainly show it on every page. I've interviewed him when I still ran a TMNT site. I've bought the man a drink before and cheersed. He's a Mirage alumni, and I don't think it sounds too lame to say I feel damn proud to see him move onto work on the boys in green at IDW.
So yes, I'm eagerly awaiting to see what he's got in store for us at IDW in this and anything else. And so should you.

I'm kind of confused about the whole Infestation thing, are all of the cross-overs being collected into one book, and when will that become available?
Metropoliskid41
01-06-2012, 09:07 AM
I think they'll be collected in a number of books, I believe Infestation 1 was collected in 3 or 4 Trades. One book will collect the main Infestation 2 story and probably a few of the tie-ins like the Team-Up, and then the other trades will collect some of the other tie-ins. For example Book One of Infestation collected the main story and a few tie in issues, Book Two had both Ghostbusters and Star Trek issues, maybe a few more.
So if they continue that trend, they won't really be collected in chronological or reading order, they'll be all the issues of one mini (TF, TMNT, JOE, etc) will all be in a book. So if you're just looking for the TMNT mini collected you won't have to buy 2 of the trades, they should both be in the same book.
Hope I didn't word that too confusing.

While perusing the new comics on the shelf this Wednesday, I browsed through the Infestation 2 finale, curious to see if they'd include some original TMNT art. I was expecting the traditional one-panel cameo for each major franchise, but even after flipping through the whole book a couple of times I failed to spot a single reference.
While I commend IDW for not forcing fans of one franchise to buy ALL the books of every other franchise to get a complete and coherent story, I wouldn't mind seeing some characters from each franchise interacting with each other in the finale to the "event." I really am bewildered that Infestation 2 #2 wouldn't contain a single reference to the other titles.
If nothing else, the issue had an awesome cover (http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=preview&id=12019) that "almost" tempted me to buy the issue anyway.

i am very angry now! The turtles didnt appear at all at this issue! Not at all! Then why the hell in the Release dates topic it says TMNT apperance? IDW should have told us that the turtles will not be in this issue. :x:x:x
Because Raph is on the cover of the non-variant?

So you're going to demand your money back...because you didn't open a book before you bought it?

I bought it from Amazon because IDW dont release them in my country.
if it was released in my country too then i could had the chance to openit in the comic shop before buying , but since i am forced to buy them online i can not open them before buying!

While I commend IDW for not forcing fans of one franchise to buy ALL the books of every other franchise to get a complete and coherent story, I wouldn't mind seeing some characters from each franchise interacting with each other in the finale to the "event."
I'm fairly sure the nature of IDW's licensing deals with at least some of the properties they publish prevents them from having any actual in-panel crossovers. Or something.

If I recall, I was pretty clear both here and IDW forums that Infestation 2 #2 didn't have any Turtles. Definitely not trying to trick people into buying things they don't want.
Is it sort of a misdirection that all of the licenses are on the cover of Infestation 2 #1 and Infestation 2 #2? Yes, that's fair, but that's to show people the licenses that were going to be involved in the event. I can see that argument not holding much weight for #2, which is at the end of everything, but those covers were done at roughly the same time.
Apologies if you bought something under false understanding. Wasn't the intention, and hopefully there was less of that with Infestation than with your standard event/cross-over.

I gotta say that is a pretty quick turn around for Amazon to ship something to Greece that was released on Wednesday here in the states...
For some reason, actually a very good reason I would say you are full of **** and probably downloaded a scanned copy and never even bought the issue...

Thanks for the clarification, Bobby. I remember that statement now that you mention it.
But still...
Bumblebee, Snake Eyes, and Raphael having some random, non-canon adventure against the twisted forces of the Netherworld. The visual image of that in my imagination is just tantalizing. As a separate adventure that doesn't impact the story arc of any of the franchise-specific mini-series, I can't help but think it would be the 2nd Coolest Thing Ever.
Did Andrew's post (http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showpost.php?p=935871&postcount=212) hit the nail on the head?

It's theoretically possible, but would need approval from all licensors involved, making it a logistical nightmare. Completely apart from that, I think it's a bit early for our Turtles to start having cross-over adventures with other licenses. Maybe one day.

I really hope not, I hate crossovers...

TMNT meets Ghostbusters. Let Tristan write it, while you're at it.
No other IDW crossovers would really interest me. I guess Transformers could be interesting but the idea of a crossover with them doesn't really get me excited.

Oh, so they aren't featured at all? Wow. Good thing I didn't head out to Pasadena yesterday.. Would of wasted gas for nothing lol
Unfortunate for those that were confused, I don't check every website as well, only the comic release dates thread. I also must have missed the post where it stated they weren't featured. Kind of hard to follow every single post, unless it was stickied as it's own thread, that would be my fault for not looking lol
Appreciate the heads up! I'm just going to buy it for the cover :)
