Hey everyone, so I was looking at my TMNT Vol 1 issues 3,4, and the Raphael 1 shot, and I noticed that issue #3 was slightly shorter than issues 4 and the Raphael comic. Issue 4 and the Raphael measure in at 11 inches tall, whereas the TMNT #3 measures 10.7 inches tall. They are all first prints, does anyone know why my issue is measured smaller? It maintains that length across the entire comic, so it is not as if just the cover is shorter. Any help would be appreciated.

The printer wasn't acclimated to printing comics, so they had inconsistent sizing. That's all. :)

Oh ok good, I was worried for a second that I had a fake on my hands, but I inspected it pretty hard and everything looks just the same as the other "magazine" sized TMNT I have

Yeah, the early issues are pretty inconsistently sized. I think the Fugitoid one-shot is actually bigger than the Turtles issues.

It was interesting listening to Kevin Eastman talk about this at the Detroit FanFare. I had wondered this myself why the first few issues were different sizes. From what I remember him saying it basically came down to the printing company. They had used that size for most of their work and it was cheaper for them to print the comic book at this size. Similar thing with the colors, it was cheaper to pick two colors so that's why the first few issues are only two colors. After everything blew up for them they switched to normal size prints and multiple colors.
