I'm fairly new to the comic scene but have always loved TMNT since I was a kid, I've recently started trying to collect all of the comic books, along with the new comics by IDW. I've come across TMNT Volume 1 with issues 1-62 (Mirage) but can't seem to be able to find a place to buy it. Does anyone out there know where I can find it and what to look for to make sure it's the one I'm looking for? Turtle Power

IDW is currently in the process of releasing trades for the Mirage run, but if you don't want to wait, you can still probably find most issues online.

Try mycomicshop.com or milehighcomics.com to see if you can find back issues. Miragelicensing.com also has a catalog page where you can order the books directly from Mirage.

In addition to what's listed, you can also find issues fairly cheap from atomicavenue.com and sometimes eBay and the Buying/Selling/Trading section of this board.

Not sure exactly what you mean by this, though. If you're implying you found a collection of all Vol. 1 issues, there's no such thing. Maybe you're thinking of this (http://www.miragelicensing.com/comics/books/volone2009.html)? Save for the IDW books coming out soon, this was the most recently released trade paperback of Vol. 1 material, featuring issues 1–11 plus the microseries.

I suggest checking out the IDW collected books coming out.

I second this, on Amazon and other sites you can pre-order Vol.1 and 2 now for a pretty good price reduction.

I buy my back issue comics from http://www.comiccollectorlive.com/Default.aspx

They have insanely good deals on comics, with varying conditions but most turtle comics are in VF to NM.

Because, dear Stephan, history clearly shows that folks have an innate desire to avoid the simplest solution. :trolleye:

Seriously, though, I've mentioned ordering from Mirage for years in spite of the fact they could have gotten practically every issue of TMNT across all series.

Thanks for the link and I've favorited this, and I like how that site is easy to use and how each series is sorted out. It's like your one-stop shop for comics; why go to "official sites" when it only focuses on a few items? My dream of course is to get a complete set of first printings of every issue of this volume, as this will always have the best potential to appreciate in value over the years to come. Even those that are worth just $1 may be $5 items in the future. Why waste time on eBay through the patience, unless if it's a rare #1 1st printing?

Ive recently collected all of these myself and have a few tips for you when trying to track some of them down. first of trying to find a first printing of #1 is easy if you want to spend something like 11k otherwise you will need to settle for a reprint. There are four reprints in comic form for #1 and then a few other versions and special editions. #2 is in the range from about $150-$75 from what I have seen for a first print. There is two reprints for this one and they are easier to find. #3 and #4 will cost you about $50-$15 depending on where you buy it from and how patient you are. I snagged both on ebay for about $30 bucks total. The only other ones that have reprints are #5,6,7,18,32 so make sure you know the difference. They all have different covers and you can tell them apart easily. Other then that you can find the rest cheap online at any of the sites mentioned or people here sell almost completed sets sometimes. I used the miragelicensing.com and mycomicshop.com to fill in the gaps for my set. You may run into trouble trying to complete books #50-#62 at once. Some of them are a little hard to find or are a little expensive for one book. Anyway hope this helps and good luck.

if you do decide to use mycomicshop you can get people 15% credit if you use there link when you buy your comics. here is mine

You don't have to be THAT intimidated by a #1 first print if you really want to spring for one. Sure, you COULD spend 11-15k on a copy if youre looking for a CGC graded 9.4+ copy. However, copies of that book regularly sell in the neighborhood of $500 - $1000 for ungraded or graded books in the ballpark of 7.0. Just gotta not jump on the first book you see. And sweet jesus, don't buy it at a convention!

Yea that's what I'm waiting for, the right price and opportunity to buy one. I am not in any rush at the moment. I figured when the time is right this would be the best place to track down a lead.

Is there any premium for having a "complete set" as opposed to individual issues? Sure, literally 98% of the value will come from #1 first printing, and I assume a "standard complete set" is simply every 1st printing of #1-#62. Any value for that (assuming that each issue is a 9.0 for instance?) It does get complicated not only when talking a complete set, but also if you include every reprinting to make it more "complete", and that's when it gets complicated! Let's not get started with "signed editions" and the like! Simply share how much you have seen various "complete sets" go for (as there can only be 3,000 true sets at the most!)

Yesterday, a signed CGC 8.5 #1 1st print went for $1575 on eBay. I'd say that's a typical price for that grade.
