Not bad. Still wondering if Mikey's chucks become that new weapon. Not a "deal breaker by any means, but I'd miss the nunchucks.

For the most part, from what I have seen, he uses the Chucks for the majority of the time and then pulls them apart occasionally to use them as the Kusarigama.

The Facebook crowd are ripping these apart, from what I've read. But I like them. Leo and Mikey look great. But Raph? And Donatello?

These look absolutely phenomenal. Seriously. I am so pumped for this series. And I could care less about Don's missing tooth, believe it or not - they gave him brown eyes and the over-shoulder belt buckle, so they totally made up for it. The plastrons look great. Raphael looks extremely lethal in all black.

I think everyone should calm down until the first episode airs. Once we see the first episode and see the designs in motion, then people can complain if its not that good.

I just wanted to say that I really love the images!...raphael and donatello's poses remind me of already published images so they are not THAT mindblowing for me now...but I like leo's jump very much and my favourite from these is michelangelo...I always LOVED his nunchukus but the kusarigama is a very great weapn in my mind, too(well, sounds awkward saying that about a weapon..)..so I am happy to see them kept alive and to add a fantastic new weapon to his arsenal..
I don't apreciate the surface of leo's blade if I had to find something to critizise here....but both thumbs up in general!!!I very much hope the show's producers don't take the facebook casual turtles knowers who might be giving critique here intuitively because these turtles don't resemble their favourite versions too seriously...because the show is looking to be great in my oppinion and I can understand now more and more what kevin eastman and the others involved are praising about the new show...

Totally agree with you, on all counts! I'm SO looking forward to the new series now!

As for the three toes thing, it's growing on me more and more. So much so, that I don't think it'll bother me that much when the new series begins airing next year.

I just hop that they don't put it in a time-slot opposite my newest Toon obsession, "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic". THAT would truly suck...even if I do have a DVR.

(As to the MLP: FiM thing, I'm a horse-nut from WAAAAYYYYYY back. So sue me.:twink::trazz::tlol: Gotta have my Turtles and my Ponies.)

Great images, cool weapons, I like the tweaks (gap in teeth, three toes, freckles, height, etc.). I like the change in pace!

Yeah, I'm not as bothered about the three toes thing, since the toes are kind of small anyway and not that noticeable unless you really look. I like this stuff so far. Bring on Shredder, Splinter, and April next.

His chucks and dons Bo have blades now. But there not always out they fold up and away when not needed. And I think for the most part you wont see the blades from what I can gather.

As for the art work not really diggin it yet. Maybe it will grow on me. My favorite style for the shows as of yet was the 2k3 show.

I like the way the turtles look, except for the shells they look really cheesy and I dont know why they look so cheesy to me. The three toe thing isnt bother me at all. But I gotta say The shells jst look bad IMO except for Leo I like the way the back of the shell looks

I don't think it's a missing tooth on Don... it came across to me as simply a gap-tooth smile. :) I like the pictures more and more that I see them. But I'm getting Antsy to see Splinter!

Quick observation, then question: when I was looking at Donnie's pic, he seems to have something on the palm of his right hand. Am I the ONLY one who's noticed this, and what the shell IS it?

Can't say I'm all that impressed with the designs, although Leo looks a tad better than the rest. It's not Donatello's teeth or the fact that the dudes have three toes. Couldn't care less about those things. Here's hoping the storytelling is fantastic!

Yep. Although I thought it kinda looked a kinda yellowish-tan, really. I was curious as to what it is. Dirt, or something similar, maybe?

I do, too. The gap in Donnie's teeth is, indeed, a bit odd, but he IS a teenager, after all. Maybe some sort of accident in practice (or whatever), perhaps?

When I first saw the turtles' new designs, I'll admitt I was disappointed and wasn't very fond of them. But as I continue to look at them, they've grown on me! :twink:

They aren't bad at all! And I actual think the bandage wraps are pretty cool! Donnie's gap in his teeth I am still getting use to but I am far from hating it. Bring on Splinter! I can't wait to see what the old ninja master looks like!:D

Unfortunately, the reaction at Facebook leaves me a bit worried; though so many of these people aren't used to 3D turtles unlike us forumers. It's exactly what I expected, and it's good seeing Mikey will be using his chucks again. It's also a sign the project is coming on, and there is light at the end of the tunnel. But I'll have to say, there are some good fans commenting, including the joke "did Shredder draw those to make the fans upset?"

It seems like fewer general fans are enthusiastic about Nick's show than they were prior to the start of the 4Kids show, and I take that as a warning sign. Since these are still images and not animated scenes, we still don't have the complete picture yet (more than just a half-second of animation). It is so important not to "spoil" projects in today's just a few inches/buttons and you know-it-all society; just provide the appropriate promo. No scripts, no storyboards, no clips until a few months before airing. Hopefully Nick will call the animators that some improvement is needed; this is not a show where the younger kids will suddenly watch it; their parents won't support them as much if they don't like it!

I like the new designs I can understand if Nick took the turtles and totally make them unrecognizable then TMNT fans should complain. There are always gonna be fans that hate change or those TMNT fans that still hold onto the 1987 universe and refuse to like any other version or universe.

I remember commenting on "The Amazing Spider-Man" trailer and all I said is why we gotta sit through another origin story? And when people responded all they were complaining about was the new suit and the person who's now playing Spider-Man. Some fans don't like change.

The design work is great, nicely done stuff, but that's never been my complaint, there are obviously skilled artists, compositors, and animators at Nickelodeon. I'm just not feeling the designs as Ninja Turtles. The three toe thing has been addressed for months, and was one of my original concerns but that's very miniscule in the spectrum of things. I realize the Turtles have taken on many forms, from being a brooding and violent parody, to being total bubbly goofballs in the original animated series, returning to a combination of both in the movies, and having many different looks within the various comics released over the years. I'm just not feeling this one and haven't for a while. The only thing I've seen so far as a redeeming characteristic were the designs for Shredder. When I attended the fan event at Nickelodeon Studios back in March, Shredder really caught my eye. I just wish that our four heroes portrayed the "ninjaness" of their evil arch nemesis. Now this is only my opinion, I'm sure millions will still watch and enjoy once it arrives on tv, I'm still just a little bummed. The only thing I can compare my emotions towards it would be something like, re-uniting with your first true love only to find that she's got a deadly STD. Maybe that analogy sounds harsh and a bit inappropriate and I apologize for that but ultimately that's the best analogy I can use to describe my feelings. I'm not comparing Nickelodeon's TMNT to an STD.

I am up for all interpretations of the turtles. but the only thing that concerns me is the animation style. As good as it looks. It reminds me of flash game styling. Have you ever watched wonderpets or other kiddy flair with flash animation? UGH!!!. That is my only worry.

They should start airing previews and hype the series up by summer though.

Coulda changed since then. I mean look at that picture in the first post, the chain in nunchucks just don't come that long.

I really don't care though. Mike has always been the one turtle to use a ton of different weapons anyways (manriki gusari, grappling hook, tonfa) so I'm not crying foul over the loss of the nunchucks.

I beleive someone working on the show said that mike would use both the Kusari-gama and chucks depending on which situation, and that they weren't one weapon.

Could be wrong, but I'd thought I'd heard that.

Well I think I heard from a Sneefee livestream that the gap was created because someone I think an artist liked the idea of a missing tooth do to Donnie in the second or first movie (I forget) spitting out water at a villain through his teeth.

I'm not digging Mikey's freckles. I can live with the blue eyes but everytime I see him revamped he gets more and more kiddified. :sweatdro: Oh well I notice Leo has some spots on him too even on his face, but mikey's seems so much more prominent on his face.

I not sure I care for Don's gap tooth either...

Everything else looks decent though. I'm just not a fan of CGI.

Spongebob is not my cup of tea. But overall, I just hate this series a lot. It's not funny at all. I just find it full of pure idiocy. Plus, Squidwird is downright mean.:tmad: Because of this, there aren't many episodes of beter shows, like The Penguins of Madagascar. There's a new Last Airbender series coming. Nick should play re-runs of the first series. Also, I miss Drake and Josh. They should play that more often.:tcry:

Plus, it wouldn't hurt to play the first two movies of the TMNT to create hype.

BUT this Nintendo 64 style Ninja Turtle looks terrible.. I don't think a good story line will save this series. What's the deal with three toes, missing tooth, and the block look? I'm not a fan of this low budget look at all.. I'm so disappointed with these photo releases. :(

I'll do my best to tune my TV in every morning when they eventually air to support the franchise, but I probably wont watch it unless something drastic with the design takes place.

It was only in that very old first trailer they looked N64-esque, the look they have now is fine.

Besides we have not seen a single clip of animation yet, so we don't know how they'll move in episodes or what the fight scenes will be like.

The art it's self isn't bad to me (you guys know what a big tmnt fan I am so I don't want to hear any of that casual crap) but the cg is poor and the designs do not translate well.
The 2d animatic storyboard that was shown to those of us who got the chance to visit nick this past summer blew me away.
The cg didn't nor does it do anything for me still.
I thought the stuff they showed us was just roughs and it would look better.
The claymation rubber moves they make just doesn't sit well with me.
I have hopes for the show but I've yet to see tmnt translate well from 2d art to cg form.

Pretty crazy that finally after two years since the announcement this coming year we'll start seeing a lot more stuff from the new show. I mean we'll probably see toys at Toyfair and we'll probably be getting some new pictures or something before SDCC and in SDCC likely a trailer with toys showing up in the early fall depending when exactly in the fall the show will premier. I'm guessing not too late.

I think everyone should calm down until the first episode airs. Once we see the first episode and see the designs in motion, then people can complain if its not that good.

Fanboy and Chum Chum have some very well made CGI models, and with it's style very reminiscent of the simplistic drawn cartoons like Fairly odd, Dexter, Power Puff.

It shows that in the hands of talented people any art style can be translated into CG.

Y'know, it's not the best designs, but the cg looks fine to me, not crappy at all, pretty good for a tv show if you ask me, you can't really expect the cg to be up to movie standards.

Sure it would of been better if it was 2D, but what ya gonna do, it's not what they went with.

Overall I like the designs well enough, bit of weirdness here and there, bit to childish looking, but otherwise fine.

And I gotta say, saying the animation style means it'll be a **** show is pretty short sighted, the writing is what matters, for all you know it could be the best TMNT show yet.

Since we've only seen pictures and not full blown animation itself, there's no clear way to tell how this will turn out. Like The Collector said, it's the writing itself that makes or breaks a show. Yes, animation is part of it, but it's also the story and plot that make a show either good or bad. We just have to wait and see.

Plus, all of the ideas presented at the fan event were just basic ideas. Fans told the people what they liked and didn't like. It'll just be a matter of where they go with the show itself. We can have our opinions on certain ideas, but until we see the finished product, we can't really judge whether a show is going to be good or bad until we've actually seen it.

This happens ever time someone makes a show based on something. The same happen when the Green Lantern: TAS was coming out and everone was complaining about the CGI and saying it was going to fail. As soon as it came out some of the people who hated it now liked it. If the first episode of this series is a success, then this will quickly pass too.

I know this isn't really an issue for many people, but the different colored eyes bugs the sh*t out of me. Will Mikey always be stereotyped with blue eyes because of the lame 2007 film? It looks like it. Giving Raph green eyes is no better, and why should Leo have blue eyes too? Donnie lucked out. It worked so much better with all 4 Turtles having brown eyes. The colored bandanas are enough, now they all need different colored eyes, too? Geez.

Actually it's kind of funny - my first thread I ever made on the 'Drome was me ranting about my hatred of making Mikey's eyes blue in the 2007 film. Almost everyone shat all over me saying it wasn't a big deal and if that was the only thing to point out about the 2k7 then I didn't realize the bigger flaws with it, it's not a big deal as long as the character is intact, etc. Which is all nonsense really - aside from the whole "clan" aspect, having a problem with eye color change for the sake of it (blue eyes are more innocent my butt, I know plenty of cold-hearted, not innocent at all blue eyed people) is no different than having a problem with a bandana change. And darnit, I don't like the eye color change! So yeah, I feel your pain.

Everyone just needs to stop fighting and wait for the show to air or at the very least until we get to see some teaser footage or something. Sure I have my own concerns with the show (Donnie's gap and the toe thing) but those are minor issues and wont hurt the show as a whole. I'm hoping they take don't make it "overly kid-friendly" by turning our beloved turtles into an action version of Sponge Bob.

But all we can do is wait it out and see what we end up with, and just be glad that TV hasn't forgotten Turtle fans. All the arguing is pointless!

i really dont think it is fair say to that kids will buy into anything (everything), because lots of children's entertainment does fail... and we can hope that TMNT does not... it is always possible that the reverse of what Powder said could happen... they won't care if we LOVE it... if a young audience shows no interest then in the long run it isnt profitable...and unfortunately that would be the decision maker.

TMNT being in the hands of a big company like viacom/nick means one thing to me:

it is destined to go the way every other franchise has with a big company before it.

When it was peter/kevins baby, it thrived. even after the craze, peter took care of it, yeah it dissapeared off the mainstream for years and years, but it was always still around, SOMETHING was still going on.

with major companies, they create a product, milk it for all its worth, and once the kids loose interest it gets put into history and never get's touched again. How many cartoon's do you remember watching on nick/cartoon network as a kid? How many are still around today? the former outweighs the later so much i cant help but be worried.

The TMNT was treated in an interestingly unique way, that which not many have accomplished (To mind, gi joe and transformers are the only ones to compare)

Maybe I'm wrong, maybe it'll become one of the "cult classics" series like avatar managed to do, but I cant help but feel we're going to watch it vanish within the next 5 years and NEVER come back =/

well, I think that may be a little quick to say...also a tad bit negative outlook...okay, I may be optimistic about the tmnt boom comming, but it is rather unrealistic for any company in my oppinion to pay a huge amount of money like viacom did and then waste it in a matter of a few years;)...
look at what they are setting up here:a new(expensive) television series, a live action film, a new comic book on the shelves with extensive(hopefully;)...) reprinting program and a brand new toy line in production with secretly invited customer preview shows here and there...not to forget the WORLDWIDE distribution plan they officially set up....
so, in the worst case everything fails, the show isn't successfull, the toys don't sell and nobody goes to see the movies....even then they'd have the turtles exposed to the world at large and people will have had a chance to see the turtles in their strongest form, the comics!!;)

How many cartoon's do you remember watching on nick/cartoon network as a kid? How many are still around today? the former outweighs the later so much i cant help but be worried.

Most of Nick and CN's past shows all ended because the creators felt they had told all they could with them, not because the companies abandoned them. I also ought to point out also that most of the shows you're likely thinking about were CULT hits, not mainstream hits.

Cartoon Network tried making a brand out of The Powerpuff Girls, but the movie bombed. Nick took a gambit with Hey Arnold! in theatres, but the movie bombed

Danny Phantom, Dexter's Lab, Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends, all great shows...but they arent shows that translate into mainstream interest. That's why, other than a few tv movies and the nostalgic DVD set release, you never see them again. There not succesful brands, there niche shows

CN and Nick, you'll find, are VERY good at handling their globally succesful brands with care and precision. Look at the Last Airbender brand with the new spin-off "Legend of Korra" , not a bad haul for a show that lasted only three seasons. Look also at The Clone Wars, Power Rangers, Batman (be it Brave and the Bold or otherwise), and The Fairly Oddparents, all very succesful shows that get the right amount of promotion. All brands that certaingly won't be fading from the public's minds anytime soon, and shows that will rematerialize in some new form or another.

TMNT has proven, in mutliple formats, to be a very recognizible brand, so I doubt Nick will do just five years and pack it in like they do with their other niche shows. The 4Kids show lasted seven years despite the franchise not exactly lighting the world on fire in comics or theatres, the brand has an audience and it will command one again. It will be fine.

This "Girly" doesn't like the new comics either and that is aimed at adults.
It's a messy cluster f*ck of a comic and for a comic about mutated turtles the story about their creation even has me going seriously? It's a bit ridiculous.

Btw I do enjoy much of what I saw at nickelodeon, so far I've not seen much of that.

I haven't followed this thread but this whole site is about a children's TV show. Most of us grew up with it and have a fondness for it, so we like to talk about the positive and negative aspects of different parts of the property.

I mean when you really get down to it, we're all wasting time we could spend learning how to, I dunno, fix cars or re-roof a house.

I hope the new show does well and I'll probably check it out. But people complaining? That's part of fandom. "Quit complaining and enjoy it" means you might as well just look at the teevee show and then email your buddies to talk about how awesome it was.

(Personally the new stuff holds little appeal for me because it doesn't look like the 1980s cartoon. The licensing art isn't the vintage Ryan Brown - Steve Lavigne licensing art so I'm not into it. And I agree that the new comic is a mess. But I don't think Turtles ever had a good comic outside the first Mirage volume.)

This "Girly" doesn't like the new comics either and that is aimed at adults.
It's a messy cluster f*ck of a comic and for a comic about mutated turtles the story about their creation even has me going seriously? It's a bit ridiculous.

The IDW series is getting really good. Try re-reading the first 5 issues now, the story flows much better.

I haven't posted on this forum since the 4Kids cartoon ended. But, I come back and there is still no new info on this cartoon?

For something that is supposed to start this year, they sure don't seem to be marketing it as such.

Oh, and Zarius? Just because you feel others are doing something to you on the net, doesn't mean you have to retort. It's not macho to talk crap from behind a keyboard, let alone defend yourself against harmless words for behind a keyboard.

You didn't HAVE to defend yourself. I remember when people here used to jump my case about stupid stuff. I acted emo of course, and retorted, as if I had to defend myself. In the end, I just ended up looking as foolish as those who were acting foolish. I remember some of those remarks coming from you, now that I think about it.

Two wrongs don't make a right, is what I'm trying to say, I guess.

So... any trailers to this show yet?

You are entitled to an opinion of your own just as everyone is with the information given.
You have as much information as myself, Rose, and others have given out amongst other things.
No one is trolling you, you've not even been posting until recently.
Most of what you're posting is straight up harassment to other long time and new members of this site.
You can post your opinion till death comes to your door step without acting like a 5 year old stomping your feet and calling people names and or making fun of personal information which really is none of your business.

If you haven't been here since 4Kids series ended, and you haven't found ant new info about the up-coming show. I don't think you've looked well enough.

There's the old teaser, updated final character models, an unfinished Shredder model and first licensed nick toon merchandise
