So, I was watching a video today where Peter Laird said Kevin and himself drew themselves as muggers in one of the early books. He said he thinks it was the Raphael one-shot. Would anyone happen to have a scan of that particular page?

Noooope, I don't, but the two muggers definitely do look like Eastman and Laird.

I know TMNT 34 has them in the company of a hooker, but that wasn't drawn by either of the lads.

Kevin and Pete also show up in one of the Turtle Soup issues, where they are attacked by zombies...though it's not drawn by them either...

The funniest part of that is that "Eastman" and "Laird" are guests at Splinter's funeral in Volume 4.
From an in-universe perspective, the Turtles invited some random muggers/rapists to their sensei's funeral. Wacky.

Heh, I never thought of it that way before. I guess Muggers E & L "reformed" sometime between Raphael #1 and Volume 4.

An in the box explanation could be that the muggers met Splinter at some point and he helped them turn their life around (Like with Danny in the first movie) So they came to pay their respects.

Interesting theory. And we all know how much Splinter loved confronting random hoods in public places to inspire them to greater virtue in life (http://tmntentity.blogspot.com/2010/03/bottoming-out.html).

My favorite part about the panel has always been the big-ass nipples on that woman. So gratuitous, ha ha.

Anyone can be a mugger. There really isn't a specific look to them, dude.

it was, what , over 15 years later or something like that? plenty of time to change their lives around
Anyone can be a mugger. There really isn't a specific look to them, dude. Right but they don't really look like the same people.

The two sets of characters are modeled after Eastman and Laird, so the connection's there. Either way, it's all a joke of them being the same two dudes. :p

They've aged 15-20 years, of course they would look differennt. :)
Really though, it's just a cameo of the creators. :)

I think they also appeared as villains in the issue of Archie where Chameleon makes his second appearance, the issue where he is disguised as an Egyptian Sarcophagus on the cover. I know that one of the villains looked a lot like Eastman, anyway. More scans? :tgrin:
