Is there no quality control at IDW? How many guest artists are going to draw OT based material? We have red bandanas in this series for a reason, to make the separation...

Also annoying that an October issue is getting a Christmas cover... save that **** for later!

Well these variants are very limited, its not like its going to confuse all those new buyers of the comic as they'll likely never see this cover.

Unlike me, who has and now WANTS this cover! :teek:
I like the nice touch by having the "real" Turtles peeping in on April from the statue outside her window. :)

So... why is this a Christmas cover?

Christmas comes earlier every year. Even Santa goes Trick'r'Treating these days.
At least April is drawn well.

The way all started out: wistfully wishing until we could splurge a little. :)
It'll happen sooner than you know - and y'know what? In a couple years most of the variants will be a buck a book (bockbock) and you'll be snidely remark how you waited and reaped the reward while we foolishly paid full price. :D

From the ebay sellers listing "....we cannot GUARANTEE absolute mint-condition copy".
Im only averaging $65 - $75 a month on IDW TMNT comics. It was $30-$50 a month on all comics before the relaunch. Still I like that cover.:ohwell:

They are selling them for $10 at the con and there are 1000 of them so don't pay crazy prices right off the bat. The eBay seller that also has an online store in which he sells previous VA con exclusives so id assume all extras would be sold on there

It is kinda cute though! But in general, I really hate it when covers have no artistic relation to the stories contained in the actual issues. It should have "bonus pin up" written all over it, not cover (even obscure variant) worthy.
EDIT: I just noticed the turtles posing on the statue outside the window. It is a really cool piece in my opinion.
EDITx2: But that compliment is coming from a fanboy who desperately wants to see something like the OT-verse reimagined for a (slightly) more mature audience. :-)

I hope the December issue has a Halloween variant. That'd make sense.

Hate to ask, but what is "OT based material"? Sounds like the '87 cartoon?

You'd be correct. OT = "Original 'Toon" or "Old 'Toon"

Something tells me my comic book store won't have this one for me, so I'm gonna have to buy it on eBay at some point, because I really like it!

It's a comicon exclusive...so yeah...not in stores.
Anyone find it ironic that April's on this special cover, but not in the actual issue...

Nah, because it's a variant; having a Christmas cover during Halloween, now that's puzzling. :tsmile:

Bobby Curnow says that the people who organize the VACC requested the Christmas theme because it sells well.
This actually makes sense, I'd buy a Christmas cover in October if I knew they weren't having the Con in November or December.

Yeah, I saw that post (I'm a mod on the TMNT board) and still thought it was an odd request: the con is Halloween weekend, why not have a cool fall/Halloween cover?
The Christmas cover is cute though, and I do want the damn thing! :D

Soooo, does that mean they expect the remaining 999 to sell for 125.99 each?

No. The first few may sell high, but after the early adopters pay the high prices, a lot of them will probably sit at a high point for awhile untouched, and then start trickling down.

Shill bidding?
Hardcore. That seller just offered me a second chance offer for $13 (My previous max bid) saying he was a able to get another. So your first sells for $125.99 and less then one day later you now you want to sell me one for $13? :tshifty: To top that seller (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-3-Virgin-AND-Sketch-VA-Comicon-Variant-HAND-/360405886669?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item53e9dd66cd) has 2 up for $99.
Don't pay flipper prices on this one folks. I have a hunch it didn't sell so well and before they are put on the market for close to con cost a few flippers are trying to cash in on the hardcore collectors and fans.
