If/When they get to that would you like to see Tales of the TMNT #70 included?
I would personally.
I feel it ties down the turtle vs Dino and now we are on the same side questions.

Nah, I wouldn't. 2 reasons. One being a style clash, the other being that it would be way too Raph-centric.

No.

Hm... probably not stuck in the meat of it, but as some kind of backup, add-on? Sure, why not?

People don't like retcons.
I also say all the new Tales stuff should be collected together, not forced to fit in with the old Volume 1 stuff.

Yeah, what he said. :tsmile:

Andrew's got the right idea.
It'd be a cool back up piece, but the story would break up the flow of the arc both narratively and visually (duotones or not, Lawson's contemporary style looks NOTHING like his RTNY style).
Definately an important extra, like a vignette or something, but let parts 1-3 flow the way they were intended to be read.

What was retconned?

I think it's considered a retcon because when you originally read Return to New York, you see Raphael run into Zog at the end of #19 and next thing you know in #20, you see him cooperating acting totally delusional, implying no struggle took place, that he simply "recognized" Raph as a commanding officer.
In Tales #70, we see a fun little story where we see that Raph actually had to convince the delusional Zog why he was his commanding officer. Though there's nothing being explicitly contradicted, it does change how Return to New York was originally read.
That being said, I also wouldn't mind it being an add-on at the end, but I definitely wouldn't want it to be put in between #19 and #20 since I don't think it was seriously intended to be Book "1.5" but more of an entertaining diversion from the main story (what a good amount of Tales issues were).

Like a few other folks here I think it should be a bonus story at the end. The three issue arc is beautiful in its pure original form and doesn't need to be altered or almost interrupted with this extra information added years later. I would like anyone reading it for the first time to get the story as it was published.

when I first read it I stopped reading towards the begining of part 2 because I thought there was a 1 shot somewhere. It just struck me as odd when I first read it.
Anyone got any news on vol 3 hc?

Also, in Tales 70, why was the script slightly changed (in the part where Leo and Raph fight)? Seemed weird to me.

Because it was Raph's memories. And maybe this scene was different at all, but Raph remembered it on his own way.
Yeah I too think Tales #70 should be in new RTNY collection, but as an extra. It was a moment where we could just fill in the blank how it happened and now it was told to the reader years later. But yeah the art styles don't match as others have said and I think it should just fit in as an extra. Besides it'd make the collected story arc a little more bigger. :tsmile:

Throw the 2-part "Worms of Madness" sequel in there along with Tales #70 as a bonus and you've got 6 issues; enough to fill a satisfyingly-sized trade, I'd say.

Good call. You could even throw in "The Bait" and make it 7.
