This is what I have gathered so far...as for Raphael, Bobby Curnow is going to look into the possible delay (hopefully know more tomorrow)...Diamond omits Raphael from their New Releases for Nov. 30 but still shows the Retailer Incentives for it (RI A, RI B) unchanged as a 30-Nov delivery.

You beat me to the punch, blast you! That kind of stinks it's so late in December - didn't Tom or Bobby state that it was Christmas themed? Not like three days is really a big deal, but I would think you'd want to release a Christmas themed issue before Christmas.

It takes place during New Year's Eve, so I'm cool with it. Issue #5 is the Christmas one.

My LCS sends out emails of new comics coming out, and they don't list the Raphael micro. So either it's not coming out tomorrow, or they didn't order any. :<

I've been doing my best by keeping up with the dates, and often got the wrong dates because they would constantly change sometimes!

Update the Ult. Collection Vol. 2 to January and add a Vol.1 reprint to the TBD list.

Good news, the Ultimate Collection is sold out at distributor level, and we'll most likely be doing another printing.

This bodes well for the future of these books. Signs point to us doing Ultimate Collections for all the Eastman and Laird Mirage Vol. 1 issues, including- notably- City at War, most likely broken up into two volumes.

More news as it is solidified.

(and FYI, Kevin's been held up by his recent gallery opening, so we're not quite finished with his new contributions to Ultimate Volume 2. Hopefully we're a couple weeks away from that, and from there it will be about 6 weeks to in store date. So we're probably a couple months away from that hitting stores)

I really hope IDW start publishing the microseries and other related issues the same week the regular ongoing issue is out. My LCS is a bit of a drive, so making two trips in two weeks for just two comics is a major hassle for me. I suppose I could just keep one on hold till I come in the next week, but then I get anxious over not being able to read the new issue. :(

Not me, I'd rather them spread it out. Like for Green Lantern, nowadays it's pretty neat to have Red Lanterns come out one week, Green Lantern the next week, Green Lantern Corps the week after that, and Green Lantern: New Guardians the week after that.

I have a question, I am new to really reading the TMNT comics, I grew up on the movies and TV show. Whith so many cover variations that come out with each release, how does one know what ones will be more valuable, and what ones to try and get?

Also, what are all the collection releases that are coming out?

The more "valuable" comics are going to be the retailer incentive variants, such as the RI-A,B,C,D covers for #1, and retailer exclusive variants, like the Jetpack Comics variants and VA Comic Con variants.

Comics in general have been stuck in a buyers market for about 10 years now. There were rarer comics and variant covers that I got a great deal on 5 years ago buying them for $20 a pop that are now only worth $8. I wouldn't really get into it for the money, unless you can really shell out and pay for the really rare variants up front, such as the TMNT #1 RI D Eastman hand sketches (1:50 incentive) that are sure to go up in the future.

A break down of the cover ratios might give you a better idea of what issues are harder to come by and thus have a better chance of being worth more in the future.

Cover A is the standard cover (except for #5 which is a cover error, where cover B is the standard cover)
Cover B come in a 1:4 ratio (for every 5 copies of the book, 1 is cover B, 4 are cover A)
Retailer Incentive A (RI-A) is the 1:10 variant (the retailer orders 10 copies, they get one of these for free. So 100 copies ordered get 10 RI variants)
Retailer Incentive B (RI-B) is the 1:25 variant (order 25 copies get one of these for free. 100 copies = 4 variants of this.)

For the first issue there are way more covers, I recommend checking out Rich's site to help you track them all down. For issue #1 I believe covers A,B,C,D that feature the turtles all had an equal pack in rate.

Thanks for the feedback. My girlfriend bought me number 3 with the black and white turtles cover for christmas, it then inspired me to pick up the rest of the releases. I am not overly picky on the cover as long as I like it. I care more about having it than how much money I will make off it.

The black and white cover for #3 is the 1:10 retailer incentive variant, so a nice cover you got there! Hope you enjoy the series and picking up the covers. Its been tough for me to track them all down but I've enjoyed it and the wide range the covers have. Now most of the issues will only have 3 covers to pick up, the A,B and 1:10 Retailer Incentive cover, so it should be easier from here on out! Glad I could help!

Come Wednesday we'll have received seven TMNT comics in the past 11 weeks! :tpizza:

We also had a run of four new TMNT issues in 5 weeks, starting with TMNT #4 and concluding with TMNT #5.

Anybody else getting flashbacks of the days of Archie Adventures when it seemed like they'd publish a TMNT-related comic every other week?

I didn't buy the Infestation issues (were they any good??) so I'm down to 5 issues in 3 months. I actually don't mind it. I'm really enjoying both series, so the more the better. I think I'll be on withdrawals soon enough!! With only the main series for the next few months!! :teek:

In terms of the Archie series - the specials and alot of the mini series were really just a waste of paper (IMO) - exclusions include the Mutanimals and the first April mini of course!! :twink:

• Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Micro-Series, Vol. 1 TPB

How acturate is this? I started adding #2 to the list with next weeks date but to me that seems a little soon since #1 was just released. Can anyone confirm?

I get the same newsletter and it's usually spot on. However, if they're right about those dates then Diamond and pretty much everyone else don't know about it (which is not likely). Both of those were solicited as June releases and remain on the June lists for all upcoming releases...June 6 for Color Classics #2 and June 20 for the Micro-Series TPB.

Only one way to know for sure...I'll find out from IDW...stand by. ;)

EDIT: OK, here's the verdict, direct from Bobby at IDW:

...there's a possibility CC #2 could be next week, though a week or so after seems more likely. No chance on Micro TPB, we just approved that to print last week.

I'm fine with that...I constantly have to change the dates on my site to match the day so if you want to just list the month planned that's definitely easiest.

I actually miss the exact dates, gave me a good day to visit my comic shop, and they were usually accurate. If the book was late, oh well, I'm still in a comic shop! Maybe just put a disclaimer that dates are subject to change? That's my 2 cents. :)

I took a look at the Color Classics #2 today, but didn't feel like picking it up. I like what they did with the colors on the Mousers, they do look pretty memorable. April's jumpsuit looked purple to me though; I don't know if it was intentional, but it seemed like an odd change considering it was clearly dark blue on the 3rd print cover, the First Comics TPB colorization, and the NECA action figure.

Got it. Liked it. Wished for the hell of it they made April's suit yellow. But oh well. I did notice there was hardly any actual action in the issue, but the story was still cool. Plus, they didn't censor or change the line about Baxter threatening to bring the Twin Towers down.

This probably won't be the first time someone will get confused. It might be a good idea to mention at the very top "release dates are subject to change." I'd rather have a tentative date than no date at all. Anyhow, I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say thanks for taking this on!

IDW SDCC exclusive Ultimate Collection v.1-3 is up for pre-order today on IDW website. Only available for pick up at the convention, and limited to 40 books. Got mine today. Black and white variant edition.

Hey Scanderson...thanks for the notice on this. This was the first I'd heard about it.

For you TMNT collectors or completists (or just for general clarification): At $200 this is quite an investment so I was curious as to what this "slipcase" edition was all about. I contacted IDW regarding this to get the details regarding the actual books inside.
The 3 books as part of this set are not SDCC or Comic-Con editions as that is not denoted anywhere on the books or the slipcase. The 3 volumes of the TMNT Ultimate Collection HC B&W cover editions are combined as a "Deluxe Slipcase Set" which can only be pickup up at the 2012 Comic-Con (i.e., no shipping available). Volumes 1-3 included in this set are the exact same B&W "convention variants" of the TMNT Ultimate Collection HC available for purchase separately. The slipcase itself that these 3 books are housed in will only be available with this "Deluxe Slipcase Set."
What I don't see anywhere (and didn't hear from IDW about) is the "limited to 40" sets. While this may be true, I can't find anything that supports this.

EDIT: ...and, as is typical, someone already has 2 up for sale on eBay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300730787132&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:US:1123) at double the IDW price...

the TMNT Classics Vol. 1 TPB hasn't yet been released...it was originally planned for June but now is August (exact day TBD). The content was also changed significantly from the original solicitation. I'll create a thread for it now as well.

I know the next week list thing said it earlier, but having checked to the releases for Next Week now, the third HC volume isn't on the list anymore (well, at least the previews world one). Honestly, my only real complaint about IDW right now is knowing release dates in advance. These $50 hardcovers aren't cheap, so not being able to be sure so close to release is killer to me. Still, looking forward to my copy of the second IDW volume coming in next week (too bad my LCS didn't have issues 9-11 or the fifth Micro though).

Well, don't hold your breath. It's because of sales dropping on the color classics series that has Idw questioning to even continue them after a certain point.

Well I don't really mind, since I own these issues in like a dozen different ways already.

I do think a collection of the color issues would likely sell more than these individual issues, especially to casual fans who never read a TMNT comic before.

I have to believe a 'casual' fan would be more inclined to pay $3-$4 for a single issue to check it out versus shelling out close to $20 for a tpb containg only four issue. Besides, the original Mirage issues are almost double what a modern comic is, So a tpb could cost more.

As someone who just got into the TMNT comic bandwagon, I hope they continue the Color Classic series so that I could have a complete set. I know that the Trade paperbacks are available, but I really would like to collect the comics.

Like Samhain mentioned, I'm pretty casual to this series, so I bought Colored Classics #1, Raphael, and # 12 of the 2011 IDW series, to see if I want to invest in the books.

As may have been reported, we had to go with a different (more expensive) printer for this issue, and as a result it's coming out ahead of schedule. Was INTENDED to come out after TMNT #14.

There's a mild spoiler for #14 in Fugitoid. If you're purest, hold off on reading it, avoid forum spoilers... but it's not a big deal. It won't inhibit understanding the story at all.

Wow, I totally forgot about this! I was looking on comiclist.com and was shocked to see Fuguitoid listed for this week! I guess I'll have to go pick up it up and then wait around until TMNT 14 comes out to read it. Oh... patience is a virtue indeed.

Nines, please don't start mean rumors. They did have issues with a new printer recently which caused the Fugitoid issue to be released before issue 14. Kuhn just happens to be the new artist when these problems started and could just be a coincidence.

It's being released tomorrow. However, since it's designed to be a Halloween issue for "Halloween ComicFest" (HCF) and it's "free," your comic shop may be holding this and planning to distribute this via in-store promotion and/or closer to Halloween unless you've pre-arranged something with them. I know some are giving it (and other HCF issues) away in Oct. with any purchase (while supplies last), some are holding it until Halloweeen as an in-store HCF promotion they are planning (kind of like Free Comic Book Day - FCBD), and some may put it up for sale either tomorrow or near Halloween. Every shop will be different and some shops may not even be participating in HCF and won't have pre-ordered it unless you asked them to do so.

Also, keep in mind that free comics (even FCBD comics) are not free to the comic shops. They still have to eat the cost for them (although the cost is much lower).

Exactly. I wasn't picking on him because I don't like his turtles. It's just that Bobby said that switching artists meant that we'd be getting the book on the second to last week of the month... and now that's two months in a row where it got pushed back.

I think Kuhn is a fantastic artist, and I'm rooting for him to improve his turtles every issue.

Unfortunately not. Looks like the don't consider that issue part of the Ninja Turtles series as they didn't put it into the Ultimate collection too.

I wonder if Mirage still holds the rights to the Fugitoid #1 story. As part of the TMNT universe, the character itself is fair game to be used. But since the comic was intended to be stand alone (albeit set up the character for TMNT tie in) and was not officially TMNT, IDW may not have the rights to reproduce that book.

Not likely. Last info. I received was that #16 will likely be the 28th. However, beginning with issue #17, they'll likely be hitting middle of each month.

There have been plenty of delays before Kuhn came on board, and they are often not artist deadline related. Some were shipping and/or printing related, so we don't know for sure whether Kuhn actually failed to meet any deadlines, let alone all of them... Unless you have some inside info?

Has there been any news on the Ultimate Collection Vol. 4? At the top of this thread it's listed as 10/31, and I've seen some November dates for it, and now Amazon has it listed as 1/1/13.

Did I miss something?

I've said this before but... the last week of the month is when our TMNT books come out. 90% of the ongoing has hit the last week of the month. If it comes out earlier than that, it's a bonus- we're ahead of schedule.

The "in-store" date is generated about six months in advance, and is almost never correct. It's pretty much randomly assigned by the marketing folks as much as I can tell.

Ult. Vol. 4 is still being worked on... should hopefully come out early in the new year.

Michaelangelo Color Classics and Tales of TMNT vol. 1 both came out yesterday. Did Someone pick up Tales? Is the coloring done by the same team who is doing the Color Classics series? Can't say it from the preview credits page.

Those foot clan variants are very nice...I've already preordered the dynamic force cover, the ri a and ri b cover. It's actually pretty hard to get those foot clan variants in Germany, because the stores don't order enough of the regular covers to get hold of the variants.

But I still try to get my hands on the nice variants..collecting IDW stuff can be a rather expensive hobby for a German:tlol:
Maybe you already know it: some weeks ago Panini announced that they will release the german version of the IDW ongoing series in 2013. They will do the same in Italy and other European countries.

The reason for skipping over #8 just as Mirage did when downloading issues on its former site and only having an aardvark on screen for three seconds in Return of Savanti Romero is the reason of copyright.Royalities would have to be paid to Cerebus's creator for reprints of the issue as well as further crossovers.That issue should only cost you $3 in original form so its no big loss.The reason Usagi had so often crossed over to the point we thought he was a TMNT character was his best friend was Peter Laird who understood Usagi's character and had free reign over the character whenever Usagi could be worked in.Since TMNT is now under the cooperate thumb instead of his best buddy Usagi will likely be ending his longtime association with the Ninja Turtles so Viacom would not have to pay royalities to him while royalities probably would not be an issue when putting out previous work with TMNT that Usagi was involved in.

Haha.Not a problem! Not often I can help a poster on the TMNT comic front.

I suspect at that point Peter and Kevin were just having fun with colleagues but Peter's friendship with Usagi made Usagi's interaction with TMNT unique and no royalities had or have to be maxe. Too bad Pete was not tight with the Cerebus creator. If Cerebus would have appeared in Return of Savanti instead of the nod I bet we would have gotten a Black Vulcan-esque reworking of the character.Avioding reprinting the issue is the only way not to involve copyrights unlike a cartoon that could tweak.DC got around copyrights by changing the character's name and slightly changing the costume. It would have been too much for 4Kids I bet and it turned out fine. TMNT could crossover with other IDW licensed properties or fellow Viacom properties.Fellow IDW licenses might run into a snag if reprinted after licenses change or viacom's intellectual properties change hands TMNT could interact with.

No, but for the most part they are accurate. Idw releases are usually suppose to be released the last week of the month, but unfortunately last week got pushed back due to a shipping strike.

If #18 got pushed back a week, that needs to be reflected in the first post. It would be nice to have comprehensive pictures of all the variant covers for books coming out where applicable...I don't collect 'em, but I have buyers who do.

Ninjapizza.net has pictures of the variants that go up each wednesday release date.
