While it's a somewhat fair review, I think the author is way too hung up on comparing it to the original Raphael microseries rather than take it as its own unique entity. Other than the titles and having Raph and Casey together, there's nothing similar about them to warrant such blow by blow comparisons.

As for his thoughts on the coloring, I couldn't disagree more. Yes, it is effects-heavy, but I didn't think it made everything "blend together" at all. He laments about the black and white Mirage days, but this comic was never meant to be a "gritty indie book" from the get-go.

Again, the author needs to stop comparing the new with the old so much and accept this as a new take with a new look and methods. Criticize it for any faults it actually proceeds to make on its own merit; don't deride it simply by virtue that it "isn't like the one from the 80s".

Just as an aside, I've always disliked the use of "sai" in lieu of "sigh". :tgrumble:

I was going to post the link to this, but azrael beat me to it!

I thaught it was a decent review with some decent points, but I have to agree with DrSpengler and say that the author has to forget about the original books and just look at this for what it is.
