:D I'm having a pint of Guiness at the moment. Just picked up some Blue Moon yesterday, had 2 and decided I didn't like it. So, what is everyone else drinking? What's you favorite?

Did you slice up an orange and put it in the Blue Moon bottle? That's the only way to drink em.
I like all kinds of beers except really cheap stuff like Milwaukee's Beast.

I'd sooner drink beer than coffee, but I pretty much hate 'em both. My local friends love Abita Amber. All I can say is that Abita has the only beers that I don't think smell like sewage.

Same here. Although, I'm not big on citrus tasting beer, IPA or light beer. I much prefer darker beers like stouts, porters, black & tans, etc. My favorite "cheap" beer though is undoubtedly Yuengling, which never lets me down. Sam Adams is good too.
I'm also a sucker for the holiday brews - Pumpkin ale, Winter ales, Sam Adams Cranberry Lambic, etc. I don't like Summer ales though. Too citrus tasting for me.

I'm not much of a beer drinker. When I was about 10, at some family party I accidentally drank a small bit of beer. At the time I felt "Ewww! It tastes like oil!" Then I was embarassed that it was beer. But due to my negative reception, I easily held off until legal age. I then tried a sip of beer, but still didn't like the taste. The only time I ever drank a full glass of beer was during a trip to New Orleans, and it was on Bourbon Street. It was lite since I didn't want to get real drunk, but even then I needed a little assistance from my brother to finish it.
I do like red wine somewhat, though I like to drink to moderation.

I like the Great Lakes beers in the Cleveland area. At the moment, Christmas Ale is great, especially with cinammon and sugar around the edge of the glass. Other than that, I like to drink Sam Adams or Yuengling, or go to brew houses for craft beers. I can definitely understand people who don't like beer. It's an acquired taste.

Actually I usually go with Molson Canadian or Molson Export or Pilsner. Occasionally Corona as well, no lime

Yeah, American beer sucks, Australian and most Asian beer is also terrible. There are some decent French and British ales. Belgian beer is also interesting, mainly because it's so gimmicky.

I actually work in a brewery now and am going to school in a year to become a master brewer. So yes, I love beer.
@Barkworm: I'd like to know what your experience with American beer is, because there are plenty of small breweries here that certainly do not suck. I would assume that American beer in Germany has a similar problem to German beer in the U.S, which is poor storage and freshness issues. But when I do find good German beer I love Weihenstephaner Hefeweizen and Vitus, and just about anything from Ayinger.

The problem is probably that a lot of the smaller breweries also don't get a lot of distribution, or so little that it may as well be none. Just like most products, the thing you're always going to be able to find is the big name stuff and where American beer is concerned you may as well drink piss water. Also, in Canada the entire industry is under government control, so it's not like I can run to some place that specializes in small-run local brew. I've gotta go to the LCBO or The Beer Store and buy whatever it is they may be carrying.
Of course, this is where family members that constantly go to and from the US are extremely helpful. That and getting me my guilty pleasure (Malibu Mango) for $10 instead of f*cking $36.

Funny that this thread caught my eye.
I've never had a drink. The closest was rubbing alcohol a couple of years back. I hate the smell of beer, don't like the idea of getting drunk, and I have a lot of alchies in my family. Also, my various medicines I've taken through the years haven't allowed for it.
But I suddenly got interested in the idea of giving it a try. I started chatting up a girl at work and we got to talking about it. In other words... she's hot, she likes beer, so I'm willing to sell out.
Any recommendations for a light-weight?

I second this. All the beer I have had that I liked was German. I tend to like darker beers in general though I don't drink beer often at all. Oddly while I was in Germany their beer selection was pretty limited and in one part I was in they only had one kind. This was probably due to us being out in the country and near a local brewery. I had a good bit of Distelhäuser on that trip.

I had some watermelon beer last year and I thought it tasted kind of nasty. I'm not much for beer to begin with but the fruity taste was a bit much for me. And normally I like fruity alcholic beverages.

I love beer. My favorite by far is Yuengling Traditional Lager. I'm really excited that it's finally coming to Massachusetts!!
I also like Sam's Summer Ale, Sam's Octoberfest, Boston Lager, Stella Artois, PBR, Bass Ale, Killian's, Magic Hat #9, and Miller High Life.
Miller High Life is the most common beer I drink. It's cheap, crisp, easy to drink, and satisfying.

Grew up in Missouri so I try to support their brewers/distillers.
Boulevard, Mother's, Schlafly…Never liked Budweiser, though. Gives me a headache. Love just about any wheat beer, stouts every now and then aren't bad. I just can't get into the double imperials and crazy Trappist stuff.

Corona is my go-to drink of choice, whether I'm watching the UFC fights, playoffs, or just feel like drinking. If I'm feeling ghetto, I'll go for a couple of 40's of King Cobra to start with. Gets you buzzin' real quick. This past Halloween season, I got real big into trying the many different pumpkin ales that are out there. Some terrific, tasty, and some not so good.
Boy do I enjoy drinking! I think I was even enjoying a 40 of Cobra when I registered here...

There's a huge annual beer festival near me, now they brew some fine ales! Some of it is like treacle it's so strong. Me, my hubby and our friends go each year, they have live music too so it's a fun night, ends up a little messy though.... ;)

I just never got the taste for it. I've seriously tried it when I was younger, but if it ain't sweet, I don't like it. My fiance just laughs and says that it's an acquired taste. She prefers the fruity stuff on the extremely rare occasion when she does have something. I do too. I'm a super taster, so I hate the taste of alcohol. I had a strawberry daiquiri last week on Valentine's Day though. Ok, half of one. We split it because neither of us likes that whole buzzed thing. I like all my senses at their peak, and not feeling as if I've taken a dose of benadryl. Never been drunk before because think about it, I'm twice as likely to make a fool of myself! We both have alcoholics in our families, so we're chicken most of the time. Oh, I did have apple cider at one point. That isn't too bad. It sure smells like beer. It's a wonder I sort of liked it. I've been told I haven't found a beer I've liked yet, but don't they all sort of taste the same? Are there some sweeter than others? I'd probably have to put a tun of sugar in there in order to like it.

Right now I'm polishing off a Miller Light but that's because it was free. I'll drink pretty much whatever's there, but there's only a few I actually buy. I'm one of the few people I know who genuinely likes the taste of (most) beer, but I don't actually drink that often. That said, I did start drinking very young, stealing sips of Mom's beer at parties and whatnot. It was never encouraged, obviously, but so many people around me at that age were heavy drinkers, and open about it, so really, what were any of them going to say to a 6-year old stealing a few sips of beer? I usually just came back with "Well, drink it faster so I won't have a chance next time," or something like that.
And I think that's why I never had that "craving" for it as I got older; it was never some forbidden temptation thing like a lot of my friends who tried it and ended up with problems. It wasn't at all like "Here, go drink," but like, when I was 14 if I came home from school and was tired and wanted to grab a beer from the fridge and relax, I didn't have to ask and I didn't have to sneak it. I never had more than a couple at a time (except for a few times with close family members in a "safe" situation), never got a habit, and never got in any kind of trouble, so my parents never worried about it. I knew drinking too much was stupid, so I just didn't do it. And it's amazing how that kind of freedom makes excess easy to avoid. From 18-25 a lot of my friends got into binge-drinking like a lot of college-age people do, and I just never saw the point. I'd already been drunk enough times to realize it wasn't something I wanted to be a routine, and by the time I was legally able to drink, I was half-bored with it. I never wanted to get together with friends on the weekends when their parents were away and drink until I threw up. I could have a beer or two every day if I felt like it, why get stupid? It's lucky I turned out that way, because my family is full of hard-core alcoholics. I do like to drink, but it's rare I have more than two at a time anymore unless it's a holiday.
In high school, I went through a heavy Red Dog phase, mostly because that's what my brother-in-law drank, and I did most of my drinking with him. I used to save the bottle caps with the little slogans on them. I don't remember much about how it tastes, because I don't think I've had one in over ten years.
I generally like Heineken or Lauenbrau as my "anytime" beers. Guinness or Guinness Black Label are my favorites, though. Anyone who doesn't like the taste of beer needs an ice-cold Guinness, fresh from the freezer.
Other than an occasional shot of Jameson or Jack Daniels, I'm strictly into beer and not other alcohol. I especially can't stand flavored drinks. I think they defeat the purpose and they're dangerous. I have a theory that alcohol's semi-crummy taste is a built-in safety mechanism, warning you not to drink too much. Meanwhile, a person who inhales a bottle of Peppermint Schnapps is likely going to start several small fires and break a bunch of windows within about an hour, because they had nothing to tell them "Stop" before they were entirely wrecked. After a few brews, when it starts to taste too much like acid, I just stop. Forcing down more after that is only going to make a person sick. That's why I prefer beer over the other stuff.

I drink beer pretty often. More often than I should, in fact.
My favorites:

On the occasion I drink beer I drink only the good, regional stuff (never the light, crappy domestic kind). I prefer spirits over beer tho, and when I drink that I usually do like rum and coke or something easy. On the occasion I "go out" to drink, I typically get a Long Island Iced Tea - BEST DRINK EVER!
